Angry Very Sad I did not place.......(Long)

Ok ladies, so yesterday was showgirl of the year for my club and I decided to go for it. I was 1 out of 5 ladies going for it. The competition was great $ this year with 1500 going to 1st, 750 to 2nd, and 500 to 3rd. Now, I knew I probably wasn't going to win, and I did not want to b/c I am getting my boobies done on the 29th so I would not be able to go to regionals on 4/11, and one of the other girls is uber amazing on the pole, so chances were I was not gonna beat her.

Anyway, my set was an angry break-up set. I decorated my set with pics of Eva Mendez, 3 pics in frames, the others just taped up on the back of the stage. I also had flowers, candy, a teddy bear, and old cell phone to break after she calls and dumps me. (pretends) So when I went up I was happy, smiley, looking at the pics in adornful way, wearing a robe. The phone rings, she calls, and dumps me, then my music comes on and I throw off the robe, start tearing shit up, breaking the picture frames, yada yada. Then I do my dancing after that. I thought it was pretty original and I did it GOOD.

Everyone elses themes were good too, one was a hot for teacher set, dancing to the song of course, the other was an "american set" dancing to Lenny Kravitz american woman and came out dressed as a seargent. These girls set were really good and they deserved to win, I aint mad at that at all. The other 2 girls sets were very boring. They did not do much of anything. The girl that placed 3rd (grrrrr, were I should have been) Danced to 50 cents candy shop and came out and gave out candy, all while not doing anything. Then of course, poured hershey syrup all over herself at the end. It was lame honestly. Also the competition was divided into 3 parts,

Evening Gown w/one question you have to answer
2 min pole trick only segment
    Your theme set

I know I nailed the evening gown. I came out smiling answered it great walked around stage. I can do 2 min of pole tricks easy. I only know about 6, but I can hold them for a long time. 4 out 6 are hands free tricks, and 2 were done with one leg, so it was not a bunch of super easy tricks. I climbed up one pole did some tricks, came down then went to the other pole climbed up and did the rest, making sure to smile and hold each for a while. I know I did that well. The girl that placed that I am angry about, did ONE fucking pole trick where she just flipped herself on the pole and held on with BOTH hands and one leg. She did not do anything else, did not climb it, no sweet spins around it, and was on the floor shaking her butt the rest of the time, when you are suppossed to do pole tricks. She also had a dumb answer for the question and answer.

I'm really not a sore loser, but I'm upset about losing to someone who did jack and shit and displayed no real talent. I was shocked as hell I did not place. I still can't believe it. I'm not saying that by any means I deserved to win, but I deserved to place. And yes I am a black gal and don't wanna pull a race card. The girl that won first place was black, so now I worry that the club did not want 2 black girls to place. This is Deja Vu after all. Sorry for the rant, but it was bullshit!!!!!!!!!! The other girls that did not place with me was so terrible anyone with a pulse woulda beat her, so no need to even go there.

    Whew, thanks for reading ladies

    Contests... they're so damn fun.

If it makes you feel any better I just did the Miss Nude Winnipeg... I had a simple show, but came out on stage with a huge ass smile, danced my ass off for two songs, did a fire show then a slip and slide(just like it sounds).

I didnt even make the finals, the girls who placed ahead of me(not all but a few) came out on stage and walked around all bored like yet had big ass stage set ups so of course they placed ahead of me.

Like you I wasnt expecting to win, but I was expecting to place.

Dont let it get to you. Contests are usually rigged some how. Agents/Club Owners pick favorites... its a known fact.

    There is always next time

Maybe even try putting together a bigger theme show and doing an actual contest like Nudes A Poppin or something? Rookies are always welcome in those types of contests/pageants(by Rookies I mean girls who do not feature).

Wow. That really sucks, very cool and original idea. I loved yr post--you sound balanced and even-headed, and also said "I don't wanna pull the race card but...." and I would have guessed the same thing. Yea candy shop and throwing out candy is lame. The idea would have occured to anyone, and anyone with a brain would ditch it bc it's lame!!!!

If yr telling it how it is, yr totally right. Booo.

I agree with Cally that contests are rigged.

I'm proud of you just for competing because I wouldn't entertain the thought to compete at anything in my club.

Yes Cally please do!!! Thanks for the support also. The two songs I used were from the band, From Autumn to Ashes, ( I dont know if you are familiar with them)on the album Too Bad You're Beautiful, numbers 6 and 10. They were about heartache and breakup and are pretty heavy so it went well with my theme. The first line in my first song was, "You break my heart into a thousand pieces, and you say its because I deserve better" Then the music kicks on. Not saying you gotta use that, there are a million other break up songs, but if you want a harder rock song then thats a good one. I used the begginning of 2nd song as a "reflection" song ( it starts out slow) where I picked up the broken pic frame and kinda stroked it while looking sad and regretful. After the music picks up a bit I whip the frame angrily again and keep dancing. Just giving you some ideas, but totally go for it!!!

Awesome!! It sounds like a great show. Fuck the club owners for not placing you in top 3!! You know you did well and gave it your all and as long as you feel you had a personal best there is nothing to be upset over

I use contests and pageants as a stepping stone for myself and for personal improvement. I like to make sure I have a personal best each time. Im doing my 4th contest in April, Miss Nude Quebec. Fingers crossed I make the podium this time

to you for putting in what sounds like a solid effort and performance. Don't let this bother you because like others said, most of these contests are predetermined anyway.

Rigged, for sure. I knew a dancer who would do a candy set like you described. Sure, it was fun to use on a regular shift, but I couldn't see it as a contest worthy show.

Only 5 girls competing with that kind of prize money is surprising. The Miss Nude Oregon pageant brings 20-25 girls usually. There are three rounds with a total of $5000 in prize money.

^^^Girls at my club really don't do contests, and this is only for girls that work at the club, and the winner moves on to the regionals in Lansing, Mich. The prize money has never been to good, so they upped it to try to get more girls to do it. Last year only 4 competed. We did have more signed up, but a few backed out since they added the pole trick competition segment, as there are only a handful of girls who even do them. And you're right, how is putting on a damn candy song and going out and handing out candy effin prize worthy??????

I use contests as a way to gain exposure (hand out posters as I know plenty of girls who do this!) and as a way to try out shows and ideas to see if they work. I try to not to take them seriously UNLESS I am in one of the venue finals and/or the grand final (aka national final) then I start to make sure I have a good show.

Otherwise, enter them for fun not for profit. If you enter for fun and not to even place just to get out there and perform for the love of it (as such) then you won't have to be so concerned over the results.

I agree that there have been contests where the girl who has placed or won really wasn't "up to par" IMO and other peoples' opinions yet that is the way it goes.........

Were the other contestants white? I hate to say this, but the club probably wasn't looking for a black girl to be in the final competition. That's the shit we face everyday working in the white dominated strip club world.

Sucks about the comp, but that break up show sounds really cool. What do you mean by 'Eva Mendes' though... I don't know much about her so not sure what you mean by that reference. What songs did you dance to?

Haha Cally and I are both gonna end up stealing this.

Contests are not always fair. They're often rigged and many times it's not the prettiest girl or the girl who puts on the best show who wins. It takes courage to even enter and I admire you for that.

She said another girl who placed was black so she supposed they might not want two black women placing. I don't doubt this at all. They didn't want it to be a "black" contest.

I have encountered this--but from the other side, able to hear the racist fucks speak their mind because I'm white so they think we're on the same team. I recently produced a burlesque show at a club with a large black clientele. I honestly didn't factor in race at all when doing my casting for the show, but I ended up with about half white and half non-white (black, hispanic, asian, mixed). Some time before the show while going over the cast with a one of the club owners (white), he said, "Now, be careful about your racial balance...this isn't a black show. The city is only 10% black at most so keep that in mind."

Why is it that if there is more than one "token" black person it's all of a sudden a "black thang." ???? Ignorance, man.

    You're right it's not a black show - it's a SHOW SHOW. Douchebag.
LOL What part of Indy has he been living under a rock?! You should have also told him 25% of Indy is Black or African American, not 10%. 69% are white. So, that leaves almost half of our city being minorities. You did right choosing a diverse group even if that was not the perogative in the first place - you just looked for talent, and you got it. He just perpetuates that Indiana is a hick ass state - when Indianapolis is EXTREMELY racially diverse. My high school would have had the biggest minority population in the state had it not been for Gary (which isn't really fair considering Gary is mostly African American (84%) so of course they're going to have the largest minority population at a high school in the state.

PS: Could you possibly PM me with what club this was so I make sure to steer clear from it? I rather not work under a racist moron's management in the future.

It's always been my impression that all of those contests are rigged. Just check the history of the Nudes-a-Poppin' winners and you'll see that. It's pretty much uggos all around.

Contests are rigged, plain and simple. The no-talent girl who placed was probably "friends" with the right people

Doesn't make it suck any less when you KNOW you deserve it more than someone else. Sorry girl.
