Yay!!! My club did away with the stupid 2 for 1 dances all the girls used to be required to do at the end of our shifts!!!

awesome, I hate those stupid things.. Some girls actually told me that's how they make their money.. heh.. I would rather get a real dance than have to give a two for one or go on stage and do the "dance of shame" because no one would allow me to rub against them for half price..
grrr
yay for you!
Please don't lick me, it tickles..
Look at from the customer's side. Yes, it would be nice if all the guys that came into the clubs were loaded, but in reality, a lot of them are minimum wage earning guys (or. It took them 4 to 5 HOURS to make what you ladies usually make in 3 minutes (assuming $20 to $30 per dance). So when a 2-4-1 dance comes along, these guys are more likely to get a dance with you. Think of a dance special as a way of helping enticing a customer into getting the first dance with you, its up the you at that point to turn on the charm to get him to blow his paycheck on you.![]()
A decent DJ, like myself, should cut the songs short on a 2-4-1 to around 2 minutes. So really, you're only dancing 1 minute longer than usual. Is making 20 bucks in 4 minutes such a bad thing. How many guys do you know make $300 an hour?
One of my biggest gripes is the dancer who refuses to do 2-4-1's, and then at the end of night tells me, "Sorry, I didn't make any money and can't tip you out."
Well Rich, as much as I'd like to feel bad for the minimum wage guy, I just don't have time. I am there to maximize my earnings, and therefore I'll look for the dude who has the most $$ to spend. If I have no other options, yes I'll do the special deal dance but it is really not all that time effective (usually clubs here call more than one in a row). I guess that it depends on the club. If a dancer of lesser caliber can ONLY get 2-4-1s then I guess that it benefits her and the financially challenged guys.
I will never refuse to do them, however. If my club offers them, then I will participate. I can choose to leave the club and go elsewhere if I don't like the structure. What bothers me is guys who do have money but are simply cheap and make us wait until the specials are called so we can all trip over each other trying to get a freakin' 2-4-1. I know everyone likes a bargain, but come ON.

Gasp, I have started to kind like the 2-4-1. ::hangs head in shame::
We do one every friggin hour, so it has grown on me over the past couple of months.
Rich-
the club I worked at would do one EVERY hour. It ruined it for me if I was on my back there and had already agreed to a normal dance ($20 each).. And some guys just don't get another dance after getting two with one free. Plus the wait for the "song" to start wastes time and paying out wastes even more time.
With the 2-4-1 dances we had to give 5 to the house.. That just isn't right. I pay to work there, get fined if I don't offer to do the dances and then have to pay part of the lowered price to the house.
So, you can see why the 2-4-1s are a joke to me.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..
We have 2-4-1's on Sundays. It actually brings in quite a few customers on a would be DEAD night.
What really gets me is when I ask if they would like, and they say "No, but are you working on sunday?"
like im not worth a full price dance - DOUCHEBAG!

The problem with the 241 is it devalues the dance, just like the free entry does. When you don't put a value on something by giving it away for free or for a lesser value than other people (customers) won't value it either and will wait around until they get in free or get the 241 dance. Thank God my club does them 1 time per night and then the hat dance, which the customer pays for 2 but gets a hat and the dancer has to pay the house for the hat. I don't think I could work in a club that did them every hour!
Its why I dont work sun-tues because they have the stupid 2-4-1's and other games those nights.

I try to create that fun, party atmosphere where guys want to spend money. Calling drink and dance specials will sometimes boost guys into spending money. It's a basic sales and marketing technique. Impulse buying.
Wikepedia's definition of an impulse purchase is "an unplanned or otherwise spontaneous purchase... Marketers and retailers tend to exploit these impulses which are tied to the basic need for instant gratification...Impulse buying disrupts the normal decision making models in consumers' brains. The logical sequence of the consumers actions is replaced with an irrational moment of self gratification. Impulse items appeal to the emotional side of consumers. Some items bought on impulse are not considered functional or necessary in the consumers life."
Getting a lap-dance in general is not a necessity for most men. (I have met some where it is though) So after they come into the club and spend some money on cover, drinks, & dances, their rational thought may start to manifest, and they may not want to get another dance. But then a special is called!!! Impulse kicks in. Well, they weren't going to get a dance a second ago, however, now that there is a "special", they spend the $20 bucks. Well, that's the idea.
It's not as if I wouldn't want the ladies to make money. Quite the contrary, I'm all about maximizing your money. The more money you make, the more my tip-out is. That's why I try not to run 2-4-1's at a set time (like every hour). I agree with you ladies, if guys know they are coming, they'll wait which means you ladies lose out on possibly making an extra $20.
I try to run dance specials when I see we have a crowd, but there aren't a lot of dances going on. Again, my hope in running the 2-4-1, is that those guys who may be weary of getting a dance will fold and spend the money on the special. At that point, I leave it up to you ladies to turn that $20 dollar special into $100 by convincing him to spend more.
As a DJ, the same philosophy holds true for when I call drink specials. If the bar is packed but people are not ordering drinks, I call a special.

Alexxa - Like I in my previous post, I want all the girls to maximize their profits. And you should always spend time with the big spenders first, given a choice. But the bulk of guys who come in don't spend $500 to $1000 on every girl, let alone $100 per girl. Like I said before, those customers are far and few in between (at least in the clubs I have worked at). Your bread & butter are the guys who only get 1 or 2 dances from you. So you have to make time for them as well. Also, think of at as seeding the customer. He may only get 1 dance from you today, but if you still showed him an entertaining time, he may come back later and blow his paycheck on you.

Maybe sometimes you shouldnt call a special. LOL

I understand that it is like this in other clubs, but not so much in ones where I have worked. A lot of the time I get the $200 - $1000 in one shot guys. It takes me a while to find him sometimes though, unless a reg comes in. You have to remember that some girls rely completely on regulars and VIP dances and don't want to be forced into offering specials. Other girls may rely on the 1 or 2 dance guys for their bread and butter but I usually don't. I suppose it's a geographical or club thing, or a difference in hustle style.
We do appreciate when you try to inspire the guys to spend. Really, I reflect my gratitute to good DJs in tips. That will not make the ridiculousness of 2-4-1s in some clubs disappear though. If they work for the majority of dancers then I guess I am in the minority here.
