    Default Shaving Vs Waxing

(( Warning: Im new to the site and this is my first post. If its newbish or in the wrong place or a repete thread please be gentle ))

So up untill now ive been sticking to shaving my underarms and pubic regions, problem is i always get HORRIBLE razorburn even when useing new razors and lotion. Ive thought about waxing for a while and just wanted to get some feedback on the whole process. Does it look noticably better? Painful much? How long do you stay smooth?

I like waxing a lot better, but the problem is that you have to wait for all the hair to grow back before you can get it done again. so its inconvenient if you are dancing

Waxing is painful but it only hurts for a second and then its over. Its worth it in my opinion! And your hair will grow back slower and more sparse the more that you get it done

Have you ever tried tendskin? its suppossed to prevent/get rid of razor bumps or burn. Some people say it works really good for them

Skin-so-soft oil from Avon gets rid of my razor burn. I put it on right after I get done shaving.

waxing wasn't really designed for strippers.

I'd go shaving, or save up for the laser. Shave with the direction of the hair and then once against it at the end, and use an after shave gel like Bikini Zone. Some girls like deodorant.

I use Coochy Shave Cream, available online. Works great for me, no razor-rash. I even talked my fiance into using it when he shaves and he doesn't hack away at his face anymore.

This is hard for me since I shave and I use skintimate, BUT my problem is that my hair keeps growing back too fast, so I have to constantly keep shaving it and changing razors.

I shave my legs and arms no problem but when it comes to my armpits and pubic regions I have the same problems. I shaved my vagina 3 times and that was only for my laser hair removal treatments other then that I ALWAYS wax! I never had any problems with pain when I wax and I do it by myself. I also use Kalo Ingrown Hair Treatment which helps with bumps. But I would definitely save for laser hair removal it is so worth it and think about it, you never have to shave or wax again!

To a certain extent, I tend to agree. It is best to start young with waxing and do it continuously (sp?) from that age. I have been waxing since I was 12 years of age (approx) ... with stints here and there shaving yet I always go back to waxing. Why? Because I have been doing it for soooooo long my hair is weak and in alot of places not that notice-able now.

For instance, I can go one month without having to wax my upper leg now as my hair is so fine and smooth when it is fully grown you can't see it even in daylight unless you are really looking, my lower leg is down fortnightly approx, my underarms are done fortnightly or monthly (as fully grown it just looks like a shaving shadow now hehehe), my eye brows are fortnightly, my upper bikini zone is weekly or fortnightly (depending on whether I am plucking or not), my lower bikini zone is fortnightly or monthly (as it doesn't grow thick anymore as well).

I totally recommend waxing if you have been doing it for many many years prior to dancing otherwise save up for laser and shave instead of starting now as it will take you near on a decade or longer of constant waxing to really have it work.

Anyone know how much lasor costs? I know it can be a little pricey but it sounds totally worth it.

It is pricey and you best consult your yellow pages for costs as what it costs for me here on the Gold Coast in Australia would be different and I would safely guess this is the same for the US and other countries as well.

Here is what I found on google for FL

I have always shaved. Since I was 13 or so.
It is just part of my routine now.
My key is to make sure the blade is sharp and and to take my time so I don't nip anything important. It stings like hell.

I'm getting laser on my Brazilian bikini area and underarms and it's $1170 for all 6 sessions required. I think it's $900 for bikini area and $600 for armpits a la carte where I go (they give you discounts for putting it together.)

I am getting a full brazilian and 6 treatments only cost me $600 and they were having a special the month I paid so it was only $400. I have my 3rd treatment this weekend and already I have like no hair.

If you're poor like me, the cheapest way to get rid of pubic hair is plucking. I pluck all the way down to my labia -- the whole front part -- where i'm prone to get ingrowns. Then I shave the rest. Plucking is just like waxing, except it doesn't traumatize your skin so much. it takes a little longer, but it doesn't hurt as much as waxing, and is cheaper than waxing and cheaper than using a new razor every time to shave. Also, I get way less ingrowns than shaving because it buys you more time in between the time they grow in.

Also, I just ordered this from amazon.com:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...733018-6627819

Couldn't find any reviews of it, but for $20, it's worth a shot. Hopefully it'll cut down on the tweezing time. I'll let you know when it gets here.. Lol.. it's kind of sad how excited I get about a new tweezing device..

I only care if it's effective, i don't care if it hurts. i've been plucking my nether regions for quite a while -- it hurt at first, but now it sort of feels good, like plucking my eyebrows. I can wax or pluck anywhere on my body and it doesn't hurt. I'm just gonna cross my fingers that it's effective..

I used to pluck. I'd spend about an hour a week doing it. That's definitely an option, but I could never get over the labia and taint area. OW.

Well...as I'm preparing myself for audition, my latest attempt is to pluck with a tweezer, took me forever and off course the pain that comes with it...I'm not too sure about it thou, I did have a long bath before hand, pluck then pat dry...right now, I've got soooo much ingrown hair and it's not pretty...

Apart from Laser (which is definitely the option when I made some ££&#163, what else would you ladies recommend? All the UK clubs are nude, so waxing might not be an option if I work regularly...so shaving probably is best. I doubt I can get hold of those ingrown hair lotion from the US here in the UK..any ideas??

    Thanks,
