Default Seeking mentor - Dallas TX

So I worked my first night shift recently, and to my surprise it went kinda badly... I made OK money but that was just luck really, it's just SO different from daytime- tons more girls and custies, deafening music, side stages, drunks... I was totally clueless how to operate and the night girls/staff couldn't be bothered

I need game dangit, n hustle hut is nice but nothing beats firsthand... anyone that digs teaming want an apprentice for a night or two? I fly free

M'k I'll try to explain better... when I started not so long ago the staff recommended I start with days because it's easier, so I did. And it is easy to a fault, it made me feel like I was working and doing well enough to hack it at night. WRONG! My recent experience revealed I wasn't working well at all, it's just luck and not having much competition in the daytime. E.g every dayshift so far I've just done my set and immediately had custies come up to get VIP dibs on me- I've never had to hustle, just worked when asked and made good money off one or two long VIPs. I presumed the same thing would happen at night, obviously it didn't go as I expected...

At the start of my shift, I had to wait longer than usual to get onstage b/c of all the other girls ahead. During that time I knew I should adapt and work the floor first, but I was clueless how to do it and intimidated by the vast change in the environment from what I was used to. I tried though, but either didn't pick good targets or didn't do it right, or both, because I didn't sell a single dance in the hour or so before my set. Then finally, my turn came and I was so glad, figured it was all about to turn around... and I boffed it. I hadn't noticed they now had so many girls we were only getting one song mainstage apiece, and didn't figure it out until too late so I wasted my song fully clothed, needless to say no tips. Then I got to do side stages for the first time, thankfully I did that OK and got a few tips. On my last side stage I noticed a couple guys were having a hard time getting a waitress so I got one for them when I was done, and for that they rescued me to VIP for awhile, made OK money there. As soon as we were done though I was dead in the water again, trying to work the floor but just not doing it effectively.

So, long story short if it's not too late- I know I don't know something(s) essential here, but I don't know what. I'm motivated and attractive, but I really need some guidance in the hustle department... Anyone willing to help me out by example will have my eternal gratitude and is welcome to a cut of my profits when school's in. TIA! :]

Night shift/dayshift Weekdays/weekends, the hustle is completly different. Dayshifts or weekdays the hustle is slower. You sit longer with one customer, take more time with them because there isnt that many to choose from, so you need to invest your time wisely to make money and get them to spend. However, although dayshifts have less customers, the ones that they do get spend more, because they are usually there specifically for company, and not just to hang out and have a beer. On days, there may be only one very hot dancer, and the rest are medicore. The hottest girl may get the majority of guys that come in

Night shift is completly different. Your nto the hottest one anymore. Now your competing with however many other dancers who are just as hot as you are. Your not special anymore.
Tons of people to choose from. You dont need to waste time sitting with one guy for to long. If he dont spend, move on and find another. Although there are more guys to choose from on nights, quality can vary. Now you have guys who are there to sit and watch and havea beer and not spend cash. But...when you find thoes guys, just move on. Nightshift may be a tougher crowd to sell, but you have more people to choose from, so if you get a no, you can find a new guy quickly.

So what you need to do is change your hustle from the slow dayshift pace your used to, to a faster nightshift hustle. Spend 2 songs TOPS talking to someone, then ask for a dance. If he says no, move on to the next and start over. You also need to be in more of a party mode on nights. Full of energy, bubbly, outgoing personality. Pretend like the club is your personal party, and your the hostess. Its your job to make sure everyone at your party meets the hostess and is having a good time.

You should do a search in the hustle hut, I am sure there are a lot of threads about day/night hustle. It is completely different, maybe you just need to get used to the change.

One really big thing is, you can't wait for them to come to you - you have to go to them when it's busy. Get your ass out on the floor and moving! Flirt with any and everyone you see. Don't spend too much time talking; ask for dances quicker and move to the next guys faster.

Wear bolder outfits to stand out more. Anything to get some attention is good - making them look at you instead of the 40 other girls within spitting distance is about half the battle. Keep moving - if you stand still too long you will become invisible in the crowd. SMILE. Flirt. Wisecrack. Walk around like you are the hottest bitch to hit the city in 20 years!

And one thing I do in a crowd is just look at each dude like his head is a giant dollar sign. Makes it easier to be happy about the crowd and approach more people

You really dont need a mentor. I suggest you read the posts here on this site and enroll in the dancerwealth program.

For what its worth Dallas isnt easy to make money in unless you have a base of regulars to depend on.

Oh believe me, I'm readin here and appreciate all the tips, but it's one thing in print, and entirely another to effectively practice. I do try, and sure I'll get better on my own eventually (got a lil better tonight actually, successfully hunted a couple custies yay!), but time is money and a seasoned dancer could point out my mistakes and suggest alternate tactics immediately. As for dancerwealth, well... I'd just prefer to pay a fellow dancer for live guidance 'in the trenches' instead of doing the impersonal seminar thing. Figure it'd be more fun too, offer still standing.

I think I know what you mean. You may be looking at each interaction on an individual basis, like wanting someone to tell you what you didn't say or said wrong at that table that didn't close the sale. The whole thing is about technique, and a lot of girls pick up one (slow or fast hustle) first and then work on the other.

I used to get overwhelmed by the fast hustle, now I much prefer it. But an experienced dancer will run circles around you, that shouldn't be discouraging. You just have to learn to read the crowd and how to hustle. And that takes time.

The dancerwealth seminar helped me tremendously and it paid for itself almost immediately. I took it about two months ago. I had some experience beforehand (about 6 months) and within a few weeks it totally changed the way I worked. Not only that, but I came back home (I flew out to LV for it) feeling totally encouraged and refreshed (in spite of spending half my weekend in the airport). It also helped to go to the clubs in Vegas and watch dancers working in a totally different type of environment.

    Good luck!

One other thing, a lot of girls start dancing at my old club...and after watching so many girls go through a kind of sad routine--they never learn how to hustle and as the girls that have been there longer are largely extras girls--the naive girls turn to extras and the clean girls (yours truly included) leave. The newbies are kind of afraid to ask for dances, never learn how to pace the conversation and sell a dance (as opposed to "asking" for a dance). G-d, that place was such a bummer.

Anyway, the point of that was just to say that the more experienced girls are not necessarily the best to follow, even if they make a killing, cause sometimes they implicate you in situations that you would rather not be involved with because they think you are naive and easily persuaded...they also go for the shock factor that you won't know how to deal with situations. It sucks. Pick your cohorts wisely.

Don't you work at the Lodge? I work there and Saturdays suck!!! The clientele is a whole different crowd on Sat. night and require a different hustle. They are major assholes looking for as much as their money will get them. If you are comparing day and night shift I would work nightshift a few weeks and on different days. Don't use a Sat. night to compare though, because those are all on their own, imo. I, on the other hand, have never worked day shift. What are the busy times and days at the Lodge, for dayshift? I have some classes in April and they end to late to make it in to work before 10. I was thinking of going in on the days but, I am nervouse b/c I have never been in anywhere before 7 or 8 pm before. I get nervous when there are very little customers in the club, for some reason. I guess i need to just get over it.

I disagree that Dallas isn't easy to make money without regulars. I have very few regulars, and while they certainly make it easier for me, if I come in on a regular schedule and treat dancing like a real job I always average very high.

Pretty much on point sunny. At my other sales job we were trained generally first, but nobody really got the hang of it until the subsequent mentor stage when we worked one-on-one with a pro. So that's what I want- someone who can help me identify the diff breeds of custies and what cues are good/bad, and the most effective convo/dance techniques.

Yeah buffy I work at the Lodge- Alice there wearing a red beaded cocktail dress lately so say hi if you see me. I've only worked Sunday daytime so far, except my bad experience which was last Weds night, and a half night when I hired also a Weds. I like Sundays a LOT- I'd call it relaxed as opposed to slow; less custies sure, but also less dancers to compete with- the custy/dancer ratio may be better than nights actually. Also, prize poker at 4:30 brings in 50-100 people (my first successful hustle was a pre-game 'goodluck dance'), drinks are on special all day, plus if you work 12 to 7 you get free lunch and $40. FYI they are looking for new poker dealers, I may try it and you might be interested to get a feel for daytime with money guaranteed- pays 30/hr plus tips.
