    Default Calculus nerd needed!

I'm taking the second part of first year calculus, and it's ridiculously difficult for me. Problem is, I have to get at least an A- in this class in order to maintain my scholarship eligibility. Soooo....with 60% of the grade being calculated on 6 assignments, I need 100% in each of these assignments to make up for the fact that the exam will eat me alive.

What I need is a homework checker. I will pay. I need someone to look over my assignments, and make sure they're right. It will all be over the course of the next month.

Does my Calc saviour exist?? Please pm me! All you'd have to do is look over the work, (10 questions per assignment, I will write everything out neatly and make it exceedingly easy for you), and tell me what is right and what is wrong. My head is in a vice, you name the price!

    Thank you!

Why don't you just post your hw here? In math if you have enough time you can usually double check your answer. By plugging in real numbers or doing the reverse on the answer.

There are also math programs now which can do most calculus problems, mathemetica, matlab. I assume they are available on a trial basis. I have Mathemetica installed on my computer, but haven't used it in many years. they can solve problems with variables in the answer and many other problems.

I had to take Calc III a while back. Did very well. Almost failed Calc I,II in high school but got 5/5 on AP test.

It's been a few years since I've been in college and taken Calculus, but I was a math major. Completed Calculus I during high school through AP credits(got a 4 on the AP exam), and A's in Calculus II and III. I tutored math from 2001 to 2005, ranging from elementary school students to college undergraduates and continuing ed students. If you still need help, let me know.

And yes, I know I am a math nerd. (lol but I like math) :p

I could post my work here, but that just seems...mean!

If any current students are interested, I can also exchange copy and style editing services for math looky-over services. I have worked as a professional copy editor, and have an English BA.

My suggestion would be to head over to facebook and make friends with the ivy league-ers. Seems you'd get more bites there, since the whole site is geared towards college students and if you get buddy-buddy with the ivy kids, that would be the icing on the cake.

Would moving the thread to the test board or another message board make it mean-less? (edit that)
Not the exact purpose of a message board, but message boardy.

Hey, we're offering. Don't overestimate Ivy-leaguer's math abilities. Dare I say I've done better in math than all the future Ivy leaguer's in high school and work I've met. Heard good things about MIT students though.

Don't take it the wrong way ....I KNOW there are people here that are fully capable of helping, but I suggested facebook since it's geared towards college students. I think she'd get more activity, that's all. I get what you're saying about some of the ivies, and that might be the case with some trust-fund babies who get in b/c their parents went there, etc. BUT I am quite partial to the ivies for reasons I won't get in to.

There seem to be a lot of math nerds lurking here on SW...thank goodness.

I'll try facebook if necessary, but looks like I'll be getting some help here. Yay!

Oops, I guess member boards would have been more appropriate...but it's scary there, I don't like to look.

If you haven't already (and can't find a h/w checker), I suggest buying the solutions manual. The ISBN number should be in the front of your textbook. They only print solutions to the odd problems though. Unless you happen to get lucky and find the instructor's version on ebay or something. I knew somebody that purchased the instructor's text off of ebay a couple of years ago...it was a chem book tho.

oh sucky. well at least it sounds like you have some people here willing to help. I'd love to help but I suck at math. Luckily for me I have a good friend with an engineering degree who takes great pleasure in providing personal tutoring sessions.

I'm not sure if I could help, but what kind of calculus problems are these? I did really bad in my pre-cal class, but pretty well in my business calculus class.

I'm doing part 2 (of 2) of first year Calc, so it's all integration techniques so far. I'm apparently supposed to remember all the limit and differentiation stuff from part one, as well as a whole lot of trig crap. Hahaha.

Cinn, I'd love to, are you doing the same stuff?

Yea, I'll be doing part 2 of Calc as well in about 2.5 weeks (we're on spring break right now)
