    Default Not stripper friendly!!

Okay so for the longest time Aradia fitness decided they were not stripper friendly and did not want to teach dancers to pole dance.

Then they decided to become stripper friendly.. or so they said.

I recently bumped into a girl who was kicked out of their school(very recently) for being a stripper

LoL sorry Bridgett I forgot Aradia isnt in the US yet.

Aradia fitness is a pole dancing studio(franchised) in Canada. They were 'anti-stripper' for the longest time but then recently decided to become 'stripper friendly'.

Well I recently(within the last two months) bumped into a girl who was taking their pole dancing classes and they kicked her out when they found out she was a stripper.

That's fucked up, why on earth not? Like 95% of women who use the pole are strippers, for chrissakes.

I have seen some really brilliant performances, literally, in stripclubs, on the pole. The hell if it's not an art form.

^^Thats ok Djoser the chick KTCoates from Verticle Dance isnt stripper friendly either. Shes set on taking the 'sex' out of pole dancing and usually bans strippers off her forums.

Pole dancing became what it is because of strip clubs... the reason it caught on the way it did is because house wives wanted a stripper body... but yea its not sex at all

I understand the desire of those schools to want to mainstream pole dancing and take the sleaze out of it so that they get more ordinary women to join their schools - as is there target market. However banning strippers is a really pathetic attitude considering that pole dancing started at tabletop clubs and they should respect that.

The Misspoledance competitions have rules such as no "stripping" during the routine to keep it strictly pole dancing which I see as fair enough coz there are enough competitions out there for stripping.

Pole dancing for fitness is what led me into the stripping industry. The teachers at my pole dancing school are mostly ex-strippers themselves, as is the owner of this particular school.

I think banning strippers from pole dancing schools and having so many instructors who were never strippers themselves teaching women will only lead to a poorer standard of pole dancing.

I hate seeing women pole dancing and take all the sex out of it - why do something that's meant to be very sexual and take all the sexiness out of it?

An anti-stripper pole dancing studio? That's hilarious!
Hrmmm...So what came first the stripper or the pole?

I agree with you to some extent.

My view is.. yea pole dancing is not JUST a stripper thing, and yea it can be intimidating to regular women to be doing a class with girls who do dance.

At the same point though why not break up the classes some?

Pole Junkies offers classes for industry girls AND non industry girls so that Alena can target exactly what you need out of the class.

Pole dancing is always going to be sexy, thats where it came from. There is no taking the sex out of it. I had a lot of respect for KT Coates until I found out how negative and nasty she is towards industry girls(hell look at the post she made on here a few months ago).

My pole school does industry and non-industry classes, which is a good idea.

The industry classes also gives the girls tips on money making (hustle) skills, presentation etc - so it's targeted to newbies.

Did K Coates ever dance? I have watched her on the net and I don't find her dance style at all sexy to be honest. She is good at tricks but not dance.

Wow - thanks for the info, Cally. Pole dancing without strippers? That's just nuts. Reminds me of how Paypal built itself up on adult businesses and then decided to ban us from using their service after the fact, essentially holding thousands of dollars in funds from some businesses. Why is there such disrespect for the adult industry on the whole yet so many people are fascinated by it and will use it to profit off of?? It really pisses me off.
I think that pole dancing should be sexy - sometimes I'll see the more "non stripper" dancers and kind of feel that it could be a little more sensual. But that's just my taste. I think the non-stripper pole dancers have a lot to offer and we can all learn a thing or two from them...but I'd only give my money to someone who respected me and my stripper sisters!

Also, isn't it just plain stupid in re: a business sense? The woman paid money for the class and thus she should be entitled to do the whole term (or whatever amount of classes she pre-paid for) regardless of what she does to earn that money to pay for that class!

The ONLY time someone who has pre-paid for the entire term/class should be kicked out is when a copyright has been breached and/or she has done something so bad IN CLASS TIME that she wouldn't be allowed back.........

Whichever businesses stop strippers (people actually doing it for profit not just for fun) from doing the classes are digging their own graves as it is the professionals (the strippers and such) who do it for money who will be wanting to instruction.

The "everyday" woman might hop onto the next "cool" thing to do in re exercise yet strippers will always need some instruction in this area since we rely on it alot for work (even if it is basic beginner moves) plus strip clubs and stripping will be around for quite awhile yet............. (even if they do get a little 'dirty')

This is ridiculous. How did people even know about poledancing anyway if not from strippers?
    IAnd anyway, that's discrimination.

I can see why they'd want to avoid having strippers in their classes. We'd intimidate the housewives and they'd stop coming. They are obviously targeting housewives and such, and feel that is their best market, and they are probably right.

When the mainstream takes over something that originated in a subculture, it usually becomes watered down and extremely lame.

    Haha..."separate but equal"...what about strippers-only classes?

Yeah, but i believe most of those "housewives" who come in are actually in the industry or retired from it anyways. They just keep it a verrry good secret.

I see this but if that is there attuidie they also have to ban any attartive student who happens to be talented and pick up on the moves quiker then others becuse they might also imtimadate even if they are not strippers.

i HATE this about many pole dancers....strippers = trashy whores...pole dancers = most beautiful artform ever! GRRR

i'm not, nor have ever been a stripper, and this pisses me off!

we teach the tricks, but we do a lot of the dance...why take the dance out and make it gymnastics???? the dance is what makes it pretty.

you can't bite the hand that fed you!

one thing i do in my classes is talk about how hard it is for dancers and how hard you work etc... fortunately so far every one that has come through, even ones who don't necessarily agree with what you guys do, have said that have a new respect for what you do even after just taking one class.

many of them even want to do a "field trip" after this session is done! i think we may do that...but first we'll give a "strip club etiquette" talk, lol

While I undertand the base reason why some schools try to remove the "stripper" stigma from their classes, I do not understand removing the fact that the "Stripper" Industry is where pole dancing has derived from!

Yes, I do teach two very different classes. Industry (In The Element) and Non Industry (PoleJunkie Levels). I have had to create both in order to to facilitate ALL students who come to me to learn! I have NEVER refused a student, under any circumstances.

"ITE" is a basic Stripper 101 for rookies, as well as current industry girls, who wish to better their stage & VIP performances, and increase their earning potential. It touches on EVERYTHING regarding the industry. "PJL" is for anyone who is interested in persuing the pole...at any level.

Some of my mainstream students request to not be enrolled in a class with entertainers, as they are intimidated by them! Although I have mixed the classes and no one was the wiser...which leaves me to believe that this is a mental stigma only!!

Some schools feel the need to prove themselves to the general public that they are a legitimate, recognized form of art and fitness. They try to accomplish this by proclaiming that their instructors are "NOT STRIPPERS", so that the everyday woman will take more interest.

Pole Dancing has gained popularity over the last few years, and I do not see the need to seperate them anymore. I never saw the need to begin with!

Pole Dancers are Pole Dancers..whether they do it for love, fitness, personal empowerment or money!

Providing instructions should not be based on your choice of employment.
