Post Law and Order: The Presidential Unit

Okay, who watches Law and Order? You know District Attorney Arthur Branch from the show? You know; This guy?

    Well, guess what?

Not only has Fred Dalton Thompson acted in films such as "The Hunt for Red October," "Cape Fear," and "In the Line of Fire:"

He now has plans to run for your future Presidency in 2008.

A little background on the dude:

    Fred Dalton Thompson
    Former Republican Senator-Tennessee (1994 - 1996)
    Lawyer, Assistant U.S. Attorney (1969-1972)
    Actor

According to Delaware Sen. Joe Biden (who is pursuing the Democratic nomination for president), Thompson is "as qualified as anyone" " 'to credibly throw his hat in the ring.' "

Senator Lindsey Graham, (R-S.C.) added: "I think he makes a great president in the movies and he might make a great one in real life."

In the man's defensse, although he may have hurt his credibility for presidency by being so recognizeable in the entertainment industry, he has a strong background in law and politics (so why is he getting paid to "act" as an attorney, when he already is? That's not much of a stretch now, is it? LoL ).

Maybe if this wasn't fixin to become one of the most controversial elections in history...I mean, you've got two minority candidates and a lot of those who "pack punch" (Enter Guliani, etc.).

Can't wait to see how it plays out . Then again, I made a bar party for the 2004 election (Perfect setting, may I add; LoL - Seriously).

Well, apparently (BIG) IF he does join the race, and is elected, the addresses stand to be more promisingly entertaining than they have been-

hopefully MINUS the re-runs we've been enjoying courtesy our current administration -

    Wocka wocka wocka .

Curious? Check him out - http://www.fred08.com/

    So, what do you think?

    Well, I guess we'll see.

This is going to be an election for the history books! I bet we make a bigger laughingstock out of ourselves this time around then in 2000.

I think I'm gonna have to move!

Wasn't Ronald Reagan an actor? So it isn't as far fetched as it seems to have him as a president.

    ANYONE other than GW please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was and is and forever will be the "idiot" president.

I lost respect for him the first time he was ever elected as president and he thought Sydney was where the main Parliament House in Australia is located. It so is not... it is Canberra in the ACT... and it is right smack bang in the middle of (probably) the world's largest round-a-bout! lol!

Eh... Worked for Ronnie.... and hell, if AH-NOLD can be a governor, why not? I guess it all depends on what he's gonna do AS president.

I think Thompson was in politics before he became an actor. He is very charismatic though. But he is a Republican and I usually can't vote for them unless they are socially liberal.

Seems that Jack McCoy is doing some political work too for the Unity party:

It's not like we've never had an actor for a president before. Having been represented by Thompson, however, I wasn't thrilled with him. I met him when I was 16 and asked him several questions about his policies and got no response other than a patronizing smile and something like, "Smart kid, stay in school."

I realize I was a kid, but I WAS asking honest questions that should've been answered. I don't have a high opinion of someone who can be so condescending to a future voter, especially when said future voter is obviously keenly interested in the process.

I think Thompson is WAY too right-wing fundamentalist to get the Republican nomination. He would never win the election.
He's more concerned about overturning Roe vs. Wade than the War in Iraq. I don't think the majority of constituents are going to be swayed by his campaign. Who knows.

    He's a good actor though.
