Default Odd question on pole grip....

I just got a stainless steel pole for my home and it wont grip to my boots....all the poles at all the clubs I have worked at always stuck like crazy to the plastic of my shoes and boots but this one at my house wont...not even a little. Anybody have an explanation/solution?

It's the stainless steel. Try wearing different boots, or none--you are practicing, it's at home, who cares what you wear? Your skin will grip it to some extent.

I have one trick I can do where I need to grip the pole with my calves, wearing jeans it can be very hard on a stainless steel pole because they won't grip well. I just learned to squeeze harder, and you can get used to it--but it's been awhile since I tried a SS pole, I'd probably have a hard time with that trick.

Im going through the same problem using Alena Downs poles in her studio.

I've been told I need to start learning to use my legs for grip and not my boots Soooo... you need to ditch the boots and practice barefoot and learn to grip properly... no more cheating

You should learn to grip without boots - agreed.

But that sounds odd that the boots wont grip. i have a stainless steel pole at home and any plastic (im presuming the boots are pvc) sticks to it very well.

Oh ok. I dont have any pvc boots. I got my stainless steel pole from pole divas (where i train) they are pretty grippy. I think they are polished to get more grip.

It depends on the type of boots. They generally say patent leather or PVC on the box. I've purchased several boots from top notch suppliers like Jante, Pleasers, and Ellie, to name a few, and my favorite boots from Ellie for some reason don't stick to the pole either.

It's not you or the pole, it's the boot. I bought them online. Purchasing online for me is totally a crapshoot, but when I'm in a store I grab the shoe or boot and find something metal in the store to slide it against just to make sure it grips.

When I started pole dancing I wore knee high boots because I was a weakling and needed to build up my arm strength. I'm glad to say now that I no longer have that handicap and can climb in pantyhose if need be because I don't even need to use my legs to grip the pole to climb. It's all arm strength, but it didn't happen overnight. Good Luck!

So pvc grips stainless poles the best? Can anyone recommend a maker or boot style?

    Thanks!

You can try to make the pole a bit grippier by lightly spraying some hairspray over it. When you're done using the pole, you can remove it by wiping it down with some diluted methylated spirits. It's better to clean it after each use rather than leaving it til later because built up residue will be harder to remove in the long run.
