    Default Rocky Horror Picture Show

Talk about overrated. I can't believe there's this huge cult following. Some people watch it every Halloween. In some theatres it's been playing every weekend since 1975. People dress up in lingerie. They have auditions for casts who perform live without looking at the screen while the movie plays. They go into DEBT to make the customes and get props. People ritualistically yell stuff at the screen. So why does this movie suck? There are only two good songs: Time Warp and Sweet Transvestite. It's sooo boring too. I saw both the American and British versions and I couldn't even tell what the difference was. I had the 25th anniversary DVD so I activated the audience participation feature. Talk about annoying. I can't believe people sit through all that noise. The Multitheatre experience feature was decent, that's where you see the live performances. The audience props are so lame. Oh wow, I have a newspaper on my head, oh boy. Weeak.

o my god!!! i LOOOVE it!!!
i love the sarcasm of the audience participation, but also of the movie itself. it was written as a play spoof of scifi movies.
and something about tim curry in drag... just does something for me.

I don't think you realize how many of us strippers were into Rocky Horror in high school, back in the olden times when it was one of the few places you coud go dress all crazy and be a freak with no repercussions!

haha, you must be young huh?? lol

i was soooooo sad when it came out in dvd....you can't fully experience it at home, even with the so called "audience participation" feature. i think that by them doing that it ruined it for SOOOO many people that haven't truly experienced it...and yes, it's a weird movie, but that's what makes it fun!

    it is a cult CLASSIC!!!

i used to have the record...yes i said RECORD (i'm only 30, so i'm not THAT old lol)! I knew every song before I was 10 yrs old and the moves (cause my mom taught me! lol), i didn't even see the movie till i was i think about 14!! it ROCKED!!!!!

OMG SUSAN! I think they show it every weekend here in pdx at a small theater downtown somewhere...I think...hopefully they haven't stopped that, WE SHOULD SO GO!!!!!

you would make an awesome magenta!!! all you'd have to do is curl your hair!

    edited to add.....

SUSAN!! http://www.clintonsttheater.com/ every saturday! we should gather all the pdx girlies...if ya'll can take a night off that is!!

And just like every other movie ever made, everyone has their own opinion on the title in question. No real need to gripe about what other people like and/or don't force you to be involved in. Heh.

For the record, I love RHPS. Always have. I will bop on down to a showing now and again, and participate... and sometimes I assist in the filming of some of the local shows.

    LOL, Susan! So true!

It's not supposed to be a "good" movie. I first saw it when I was 12, and was highly impressed, which should tell you something about the fanbase demographic. And yes, I recall wearing a miniskirt, a gold sequinned tube top, and high-heeled red-&-gold leather cowboy boots to midnight showings in Greenwich Village. Suffice it to say, nobody who knew me back then was surprised to hear that I'd quit my Seven Sisters school to become a stripper.

And oh god, I had a huge crush on Tim Curry back then. Does anyone remember the movie "Times Square"?

I'm one of the lucky ones who got to go to 8th Street in NYC (The Original) to see it...AND I USED TO GO EVERY FREAKIN' WEEK!

Still love it, always will. I always thought that people who found it boring just didn't get it.

And I've even passee the torch. My almost 20 yr old daughter loves it just as much as I do.

If you want a movie to hate on, try the sequel (or is it prequel?) to RHPS, 'Shock Treatment'. Now there's a piece of crap, lol.

I agree with Scarlett, Shock Treatment sucked but I use the song in my Nurse theme set, ha ha. It's funny because nobody has ever heard it before until I play it on stage.

Hey, I'm young... and it's pretty much my favourite movie ever.

I went to see it at an outdoor cinema a few months ago and we got dressed up... and during the rain/newspaper scene it actually started raining! It was so awesome. We were completely soaked by the end of it but it was the funnest night ever. And me and the girl I went with know almost the whole script AND the call-back script. It was so so so fun

To truly understand RHPC, you have to go to a theater that allows people to act allong with the show. BUT you have to go with friends and act along with it. It gets INSANE! Its an absolute blast and I wish they would play it here again.

Last time the theater hear played and let us have at it, they outlawed the hotdogs. Not cool.

I grew up with it, was friends with folks who did it, did the live cast thing several times myself (as Eddie, Riff Raff, Dr Frankenfurter, and on one strange evening....I was Magenta) etc. I will agree with folks though, the movie flat out sucks. If you see it on DVD or something and haven't experienced it with 150 people screaming and romping about in their underwear, you just don't get it.
