Did anyone make it to Bikeweek this year, have you ever been there before? I went this year, man what a blast. Here's a pic that I don't remember taking...

I was there again this year. It was sad how dead it was compared to other years. I feel so bad for merchants and bars.

And, a gripe of mine, this year was severely lacking in Hot Chicks. I mean really. Every Bike Week has the obligatory Really Old And Scary or Really Fat And Scary chicks who try to dress like strippers... but damn, this year there was so many of them and so few hotties.

I lived in Daytona for several years, and wound up working Bike Week for most of the last 8 years.

It's a lot more enjoyable to work for Bike Week than to just be a resident of Daytona participating, though I have several friends who live there who love it.

I used to ride, until the third accident that should have killed me, then I decided not to push my luck anymore. But even if I still did, and I had a week's vacation every year (as most of the working class participants do), the last place I'd spend it is with 3-500,000 people who were all dressed exactly the same, walked and talked the same, had the same attitude about women, etc., etc.

But it does always make me want to get another bike--and then ride it as far out of town as possible...

And the vast majority of the women look absolutely terrible, I can't imagine it being any worse than it was in past years, lol.

Now working the clubs Bike Week is a different matter, and can be a lot of fun. A lot of new dancers from out of town, a high energy atmosphere every night, a lot more money than normal. But you have to play non-stop classic rock, and way too much Lynyrd Skynryd (or however the fuck you spell it), etc. In one of the clubs I worked in, a major motorcycle gang would pretty much take over the club every year, which was quite interesting.

Most of the years I worked Bike Week I wound up doing a lot of bodypainting, so that was always something to look forward to. Never make the mistake of painting a gang's colors on anyone or anything, though, unless they ask you to. They do not consider it a compliment.

The past 2-3 Bike Weeks have been slower in the clubs money-wise, and a lot of the dancers have been unhappy.

I didn't miss it at all this year, I am making a lot more money down here anyway.
