oh I've been wanting to try this but they don't sell it maccosmetics. I just mix my pigments with visine. Let me know how it works out for you!
visine? I've never heard that. I've been using water.

Well I've made specktra.net my new second home away from home. SW being "home" Anywho, I read in a thread over there that it's not good to use water because it can mess up the makeup, plus breed bacteria. And just today I read in there that some mua do use visine. Em, here is the link for you about wetting e/s: http://www.specktra.net/showthread.p...ater+eyeshadow
LSM: They actually have a recipe on how to make your own mixing medium. Lucky me, I didn't find the recipe til like 10min after I won my auction. Anywho, the recipe is as follows:
-3 parts water (I use distilled water)
-1 part glycerin
Combine. Both can be found in any drugstore or pharmacy.

bacteria growth is probably just related to wetting eyeshadow pans but I don't imagine that would create any problems for pigments since those are mixed up fresh each time. I wonder if there is even an advantage to using mixing medium, like, it the color even more intense or what? thanks for the recipe, I'm going to try that!![]()

yeah, well I wouldn't recommend sucking your brushes to begin with.![]()
so they are saying not to use water because it makes the shadow crease and crust.
I wet the brush for lower lid color, so that's not the issue. I still don't understand using visine. I read the thread and didn't see it.

using visine is just another method of "wetting." either water or visine is fine.
I assumed the thread was started as another method of applying loose pigments, not eyeshadows in the pan.

^Thank God 'cause you never know!!!![]()
I have it, but honestly I don't use it very often. Only when I need a color super bright, but I find most MAC shadows vibrant enough not to need it. Still a fun product, great for getting glitter to stick.

^^^^ And you know this! I'm not a creative person. I always keep the same screen name when I go to different sites. I actually added you to my buddylist, cause I recognized you

Yeah, I also have to keep the same name and password for everything or else I'll forget it! That's my home away from SW too, so I'll look for you on there.
Hmm, I've always used water if needed too, though maybe I'll get some of this...
I believe you Dottie and you have my support

I'm on Specktra too! I'm BadBadGirl with 139 posts currently. I don't post on there too much because I'm still learning about makeup.
My favorite section is the sale/swap- I'm expecting a package from someone any day now. Anyway, I need a mixing liquid for all the loose glitter I have. Someone in a MAC group told me that Ben Nye has a great liquid thatcan workas well as MAC's for less. So I'll try that one.

^^Yes, I too heard the ben nye was just as good. If you wanna go even cheaper Pleasure, you can buy glycerin and use water. Same thing..

I bought a mixing medium off of ebay a while back....I wish I could remeber the sellers name, b/c it was disgusting. It worked good - I tested it out when I first got it. I had no need for it for a couple weeks, so I kept it in my bathroom, which is well-lit and the cap was tightly closed. So, time goes by, I went to use it again and it worked fine. It wasn't until I was doing eye # 2 that I noticed there was MOLD growning in the container!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost threw up all over the place. I completely freaked out and threw away all the brushes and pigments it had come into contact with. Ew.

I use it for my piggies. I love it.

Oh my god, I love mac mixing medium. It's like my secret weapon! It makes pigment colors incredibly more intense and radiant and stays forever. It's a bit of trial and error to figure the right amount of medium to put on your brush but once you do, the colors are so intense. I'm actually getting low on it...
