    Default Jewellery Appraisals

Was just wondering... What is the use for the price that is written on your appraisal certificate? Say, you paid $100 for a loose stone, and it appraised for $50, does that mean you got scammed by the seller, or what? Could it be that the appraiser is wrong/misinformed?

Also, can you resell at the appraised value?

appraisal/valuations are usually higher than you will actually get in the market.

it depends on the circumstances surrounding the sale and who you sell to. a private buyer will give you more than a 2nd hand dealer (who will screw you).

valuations are more for insurance purposes.
