Default WOOHOO! NuvaRing is in Australia FINALLY!

You can't believe how excited I am about this development. I switched Chn 7 news on to hear this great development. I keep hearing how great it is here in the forums and was always disappointed it wasn't available here. You can bet that I am going to give it a try !

OOh I remember seeing that advertised on TV when I was in NY last year! Very curious to find out more (since I can be forgetful about my pill), but it's a bit boring that you still have to remove it to have a period... I don't like periods.

My only question is do I have to have a period? I am soo soo used to NOT having a period (and really prefer not to because I have adapted to not having one) and havn't really had one in years due to being on Depo for so damn long. What would happen if I took it out after the 21 day cycle and just inserted a new one in .... kinda like skipping the sugar pills in re The Pill ?

I dunno... I mean I'm under instruction from my gyno to have only like 3-4 periods a years so I am constantly skipping the sugar pills and it's done me more good than harm! (I used to get yucky imbalances when I had my period so it's easier if I don't have them). Tried depo but it really messed me up.

You'll have to report back how it goes! Veery curious...

Exact same thing. I've been using the NuvaRing for almost two years now and insert a new one every 28 days so I only have a period four times a year. It's great.

Nuva ring is great, I've been on it for nearly 2 years now and its far superior to the pill. You are allowed to take it out for up to 3 hours at a time, which I would suggest if you are having particularly vigorous sex or the guy is very well endowed, otherwise it may just come out without you realizing it until much much later.....

I love the ring! Such a regular cycle and all I have to do is mark 'ring in' or 'ring out' once a month of my calendar. No daily worries!

I tried to skip my period with the ring, but it didn't work Did my normal 3 weeks, then kept it in during the next week when I should have had my period, and replaced it with a new one at the end of week 4. Then one week after that, my period shows up and lasts for like 12 days. Ick. I guess I just have a willful period.. it will not be suppressed, lol. I've heard of this happening to a few other women, too. I think it's just the luck of the draw whether this trick will work with your body or not.

I totally agree. When I was on depo I always had about 1 1/2 months of freedom then another 1 1/2 months of spotting. But then so many other gals I've talked to had no issues with it at all.

GCG I'd hazard that if depo worked well for you that skipping periods on the nuvaring would probably work as well. Your cycle may be more "pliable" than mine and lolagetz!

http://www.contraception.net/vaginal_ring/faqs.asp -- didn't really answer my question yet I will post the link for others to understand this new contraception here in Aust.

The only time I had any period (and it was very very light) was when I went off Depo for over 6 months... so I'm guessing I will have the same scenario with NuvaRing if I don't do the three weeks "in" one week "out" thing (just three weeks "in" and replace with a new one for another three weeks).

The only reason I'm changing from Depo even tho' it is working for me is because as I am recently experiencing... it can be rather 'hard' for me to find the time to go to the Doctor and have the shot. I have to get to the Doctor before 9am in the morning and if I am getting home at 4am... it isn't convienant.

I'm way over-due for my Depo shot. So I figure now is as good a time as any to give this new contraception a go and if it works better than Depo than I will keep with it.
