Default Day 2 of my diet and i feel great, but very tired...

Im on a big health kick and im really pleased with myself, tho im feeling really really tired.
I have been havin special k with skimmed milk for breakfast with a glass of pure pomegranite juice, for lunch i have fresh green salad with grilled chicken with paprika and a small dash of balsamic vinegar on the leaves, i have had a mid afternoon snack of fresh fruit and for dinner i have had steamed rice and vegetables withgrilled chicken, And if i get puckish i will have a few grapes or almonds, tho i havent been hingry at all to b honest.
Anything i can add to stop makin me feel so lethargic?

I know its only day 2 but ive never even dieted before and have a terrible snack habit so its a big acheivement for me lol

well it doesn't look like you're eating very much. don't go below 1800 calories (well, that is 200 calories below your needed intake acording to weight, height, age, etc..they have calculators for that online) or else your metabolism will slow, and you'll be craving food all the time... then when you get off the diet, you'll gain weight because your metabolism slowed.

Just work out, count your calories, eat normally and healthily, including your veggies, use the gym time as the way to loose body fat. that's the only thing that worked for me, after years of miserable trial-and-error. feeling tired, mentally deprived, all that crap, it never worked. Now, I get to have a snicker's bar every day, waffles, milk, some sweets, veggies, protein, grains, chocolate, almonds, i never feel deprived, i feel awesome, and i'm the thinnest i've ever been. I do it through just counting calorie to not go below my needed calorie intake to maintain my weight, and work out seeeveral times a week for 1 hour with cardio to help make the doesn't-need-to-be-there fat on my inner thighs go away. Also, my ass cellulite has disappeared. My thigh cellulite, gone. There's no quick solution but working out and counting calories/measuring your food to make sure you don't overeat. But extreme diet food deprivation never works. Take a lot of trial and error to come to that conclusion, but i am damn glad i've finally come to that conclusion. As i have no coke or prozac to keep me happy, and i don't want to smoke to keep my energy up, while on a crazy silly diet....and I feel wonderful.
There were times when I overdid it....thought "but I want to looose weight faster!!! 2 pounds a week isn't fast enough for me!" and then i'd cut back to let's say 1600 calories a day...it was a big mistake. still felt miserable, not enough energy....
Just do it the normal way, you'll loose the weight. Just do the cardio, at the right intensity (make sure the ellipitcal or treadmill says something like 700 or 800 calories per hour burned), and that's a good intensity to do it at

Another problem that may be the cause is the drastic cut in sugar. If your previous diet was loaded with lots of sugar, and you cut a good part of it out, it will take your body some time to adjust to it.

I doubt you should be eating 1800 calories per day to lose weight, unless you're very exercise-focused. Da probably is, but unless you have considerable muscle on your body and do frequent and intense cardio, you could bump up to 1600 calories to give yourself a bit more energy.

And amen to the sugar post.

You can feel tired when you lower calories. That's why I'm a fan of doing it very gradually.

Plus if you switch to healthy foods from junk, you are losing the stimulating effect so you have less energy. Think of it like going off a bad coffee habit...you feel bad at first because you are losing the upper effect, but it's better in the long run.

Also, just my opion but I would try having more protein and a healthy fat at breakfast, like an omelette and avocado or fruit and nut butters. I find I have more sustainable energy that way and don't crash early.

Yea i can see now why im so tired. I have been goin to the gym for an hour every other day(i had a trainer work out a plan for me which has a lot of cardio as i like doin it).
But yea the sugar was a big thing actually, i used to always have a sugar cravin, now i just eat grapes or fruit to substitute it. Tho it may not seem im not eatin much, i am very full and ive never been hungry since i started. Which i thought i would be and ive even resisted the belgium chocolates contantly been handed out at work lol
But its quite strange as the thought of eatin junk doesnt appeal anymore.

Hi all i just wanted to post a little update on my diet, its been about a month now and ive stuck to eating healthily and goin to the gym 3 to 4 times a week and ive lost just under 10 pounds! I feel really proud of myself as ive never done anything like this before,my arms are toned and my stomach and hips look a little smaller and my thighs are lookin smooth and less wobbly and my skin has never looked better!
I'm not denying myself anything either if i wanta little chocolate, i will ahve a couple of squares of dark chocolate a week and if i want a drink i will have a couple of glasses of wine but only on the weekend and if i do drink i will put in a couple of hours at the gym on the sunday.
But other than the odd square of dark choc and glass of wine i havent craved anything, chips, crisps, fry ups are a thing of the past and ive not craved them one bit. my main concern was pop, i used to have a diet coke and dr pepper obsession, now i will allow myself one can a week if i want it.
But im just stoked for bein able to stick to a diet!

Congrats! I'm doing the same & it's tough but it's a work neccessity.

Many people I know have a "treat" program where they have "cheat" meals on the weekend or a daily treat, like the dark chocolate or wine. The Mediterranian Diet contains a lot of "cheat"-type foods but is apparently healthy and effective.

Have you looked into taking Gamma Lineolic Acid-containing supplements? They help a lot, especially for women.
