    Default Severe knee bruising HELP!

Everytime I work I immediately get large painful bruises on my knees, just under the kneecap, from floorwork onstage and when I go low during LDs.

First, is there some trick to minimize this? Like, I have been doing moves where when kneeling I extend my toes to be flush against the floor, perhaps if I kept on the balls of my foot only it would be better? Or something... or are 'soft' knees normal for a new dancer, that will toughen up the more I work?

Second, what can I do to make them fade faster? Poultices, creams, massage, anything?

Third, what's the best thing to cover these bruises? I have just been using my face concealer, but it seems ill-suited to the task. Also nabbed some leg makeup yesterday, but it was from a dollar store so I really don't expect it to be very good. Have heard mentions of Sally Hansen's stuff and DermaBlend but I can't recall in what context- I need something VERY heavy that'll stay put and won't break the bank, recs?

ARNICA. arnica cream helps bruising. and are you anemic?? you'll bruise more if you are. the other thing... when I was first beginning (it's been almost a year now) I was MUCH harder on my knees... they still bruise because I am so goddamn pale and don't have much ... padding... but work on your gracefulness, slow down your moves, use arnica, and POINT THose toes.... honestly, it'll move your entire leg into better, more dance-worthy positioning. promise.

OK, where can I get some arnica? Pretty sure I'm not anemic... that's where you have low iron right?

And I do point my toes when kneeling currently, that's why I was trying to say- was thinking that if I stayed on the ball of my foot instead my weight would be resting higher on the knee, hopefully on my kneecap enough to not bruise below it.

You can get arnica cream at health food stores or chemists. I use the cream and it rocks. if i have bad bruising i use the pills too which are also fab!
Taking extra vitamin C will help reduce the bleeding too. It helps the body absorb iron properly (-:
