Well nevermind about my last question, my brother explained it to me. I should of asked my brother before about all this cause apparently he's managed strip clubs!

He says "I think you would do better having a burlesque (sp?)"

He used to work for HOuse of Dolls in NC and DeJavu in San Diego oh and Crazy Horse in Mertle Beach.

    I didn't even know this!
    lol

I was just gonna say that...Burlesque is way more focused on the art/creative side of strip tease and dance. Research it because i think you will enjoy it!
It is how i can really express myself, i love burlesque because i love the female artform of dancing partially naked! Strip clubs involve way more "business" so i separate the two. I used to think how you do...i can open the ideal club based on artful performance....like the others said...there is just way too much more involved and the creativity/dance/stage aspect is not that big of an element in most clubs.....its $$$.

If you ever form a troop let me know ill come perform in it im not far =)

^Because if you don't already have a shitton of cash to invest, good luck finding anyone to loan it to you for this kind of business.

You are too sensitive for this business. If you had the cash I could see you being an investor but the last thing we need is another hyper sensitive manager making decisions on emotion and co-dependency.

I won't be doing this alone.

I'm not asking for investors I was trying to see the other side of the business, see the performers view.

    Oh I just got that.

Well I spoke to my mom and she said "baby I'll help you as much as I can but it's a tough business"

I don't know but I have my family's support and maybe yes, maybe no but I will try to learn more about the business and then make a decission.

Strip clubs can attract predatory type of people. Just as fair warning, people who enjoy the con artist gig get away with it for a much longer time working in sexually oriented businesses, than they might running an email scam or whatever.

You've got to cover your ass in this business. I've known people who were destroyed by con artist/ strippers. They may seem innocent enough and victims themselves, but after they have conned customer after customer out of all the money they can get with tales of woe, they will go after co workers and staff of the club as well.

Some of these con artists don't even see themselves as con artists. These people just figure that is how the game is played and lie and make shit up and threaten to get money and power. There is no guilt in those types and they justify their actions with statements like 'I didn't hold a gun to his head" or "The guy was just asking to be taken advantage of".

Club owners with big hearts will also become targets of these con artists, too. You've got to be more than a little paranoid and cold hearted to run a strip club successfully.

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

It's cool that you are on the board!
We are giving honest answers, not trying to give you a hard time. I know it sucks when the answers aren't what you want to hear, but its better to know the truth --especially if you are serious about this business.

    Your right.

    Thanks

I'm glad my friend told me about here, seems to have cool people, I have a hard time with expressing myself sometimes & understanding emotions so yeah.

I'm a bit shy but I warm up fast. Thanks for the advice. I do appreciate it, it is hard to have a bubble burst you know, specially when you've tried other things and failed. The weird part of it was telling my mom she looked at me and said like well there is money to be made here but in Jersey? really? I looked at her and she just smiled lol then she told me she used to baby sit for a dancer and how well she paid lol

If there is a decent club in the area you may want to frequent it a little and try to buddy up to the manager a bit. Perhaps he will share with you who is their legal counsel. A couple hundred dollars spent talking to a lawyer with experience in the industry (in the locale in which you are interested) may help you decide if it can be done.

It is probably easiet to purchase an exisitng club. If you want a good one it will cost you. Me and a couple associates have looked into buying a nice club in our area. Asking price is $7 million. Cash flow probably warrants it, but the owner currently has the IRS looking up his butt with a microscope. Price may drop soon.

    Thanks for the sugestion.

You could also look into the local government records office. See if the club has been involved in any litigation. This is public record. You can find out who their legal counsel was from those records.

Have u got any business experience or business degree or anything?
Most new businesses fail within the first 6 months to a year. The money that you invest in any business that you decide to operate MUST be disposable income. Do not go out and use the equity in your home or something. Business is a gamble and you have to take into account that you could loose your entire investment.

Are you planning to operate under a corporate structure or partnership? I would only ever run a strip club under a corporate entity otherwise you don't have the benefit of limited liability.
You need to research all of this before you even worry about location and type of venue.

Hey, you should come and open up a club in Roanoke Va. We really need a good one here. I'll give you all kinds of inside info and help you get started. I've been dancing in a local dive for 7 years. The money potential is there but the owner is a moron, of course. Anyway, keep the dream alive. Do your research and who knows? Anything's possible.
