    Who's with me?

I've been flaking out on my workouts this week and I ate three meals that had rice and bread. I'm getting back in gear tomorrow morning. Fruits, veggies, raw nuts, and sushi. Cardio, toning, split stretches, and group fitness. Time for the next set of six weeks. I plan to be a size 4-5 by the end of this set. Who's with me?

I'd join you, but if I got to be a size 5, I'd have to replace my entire wardrobe...

I'm with you on the workouts....I've been slacking lately due to the new job and all. I'm still doing fine with my eating. Don't need to lose any weight, but I don't want to lose all my muscle tone since I stopped dancing.

    Time to do it!

Count me in! I've lost 12 pounds already. IF I can do it 3 more times I'll be back to my Army weight.

    I'm with you too!

But i'll be including whole grains on that list as well...ideally "real" whole grains, not just whole grain bread... as in boiled barley (almost can be like oatmeal if you add some margarine, cinnamon, and brown sugar or honey), quinoa, or those kashi grain mixtures you boil up (it taste reaaaly delicious!). I tried the low-carb diet waay back, didn't work, it was torture, and it's not good for your body to skimp on carbs. Ketosis is unhealthy..all I lost was a ton of water weight from the low-carb, and there's scientific explanations behind that, you can find it on the internet somewhere (but I had to learn all this the hard way...and it's difficult to sort through a
ll the diets thrown at you and choose the one that is best and works for life).

I want to aim for veggies at both lunch and dinner. So far I only eat veggies at one meal, but it'd be better to double that. I think I wasn't eating it that much because I only had salad and tomatoes around...and that got boring to have twice a day. I've just realized, hey, it doesn't have to be a salad...it can be steamed cauliflower, spinach, squash...yummy! Gotta get to the grocery store... Veggies at both meals might make me feel more full at the end of the day ( i think it's because the fiber in them slows down the absorption of cals, soyou get more sustained energy rather than a sudden jolt then decline), and thus less likely to indulge in other stuff. I'm a 6 now, gotta get to the 4 (which migh not happen because I do have thigh muscles...from elliptical, stair climbing, etc...oh well..i'm not a tiny petite small-framed person, but at least i'll look and feel leaner).

I think it's great you started the thread...will help motivate me more (usually i'd never do group get-fit things, but hey, it could help, right?). Maybe we should track our progress (saying what we did well at and what we could've improved on/hope to incorporate a habit during the next week)at the end of every week...Let's say beginning this Friday March 23rd...then Friday March 30th...etc etc. Just an idea...

This week sucked for me. I gained 1.5 pounds. Had a gigantic dearth of willpower to refuse unsolicited and mainly unwanted drinks. Didn't go grocery shopping 'til Thursday and wound up eating a lot of leftovers from my son's b-day party last Sat. ANd took my little guy out for supper Thursday, since it was his b-day and all.

Well, thank God that it was only 1.5 lbs, and I can regain that lost ground this coming week. You know what I need to do right now? I need to et off my ass and go exercise. See ya!

I'll join. I know I need to eat more veggies, and run more. I ran (well, with walk breaks...I'm outta shape) almost four miles this afternoon. I felt like I was gonna throw up for that last sprint, but that's the way it is when I start serious excercise after a lull. And then after showering, I feel so much thinner, even if I'm not. Hooray for endorphins.

lol, one pound down, nineteen to go. It REALLY helps to have other people to stay accountable towards.

That's sort of how I eat most of the time. Fruits, veggies, meats/nuts/beans. I avoid grains because they give me...digestion issues. I love eating this way because it totally kills cravings for junk and I feel much better in generally. It's good for shedding water weight.

BTW you don't need to eat grains to avoid ketosis. No grain doesn't mean no carb. Sweet fruits and dried fruits esp. have lots of carbs. You don't need grains to be healthy...I can't think of a nutrient that is specific to whole grains.

Colleen, weight fluctuates. Molly, I agree with your last statement.

I forgot about how the fruits help keep you from going into ketosis. And then with the beans, that helps too, because they're a complex carb. Heard red azuki beans and black beans are the best...they have the highest amount of antioxidants or something like that.

I have already taken two "rest" days, so for the next 5 days i'll have to work out every day, since i'm aiming to work out a minimum of 5 days a week, and rest a maximum of 2 days a week. I think that beginning Monday, i'll aim to work out 6 days a week, with a day of rest on the 4th day. Exercise always make me feel great. If I skip working out more than 2 days, I start feeling "crappy." I guess my body simply needs the movement...as if it craves it.

So far eating has been good, although I will not buy any more Dunkin Donuts glazed donuts. i bought half a dozen, thinking it's cheaper that way, and thought i'd have only one a day...but when those are around my place, I'm tempted to have more than just one. So in the future, if I want a donut, i'll only allow myself to buy one single one..not a whole bunch i'l lend up eating 3 in one day. Too much refined sugar and saturated fat at once, when I really should be filling my body with fresh fruit and vegetables, etc. Since I count my calories every day, and don't allow myself to go over 2000 cals in a day, eating 3 donuts makes me have around 450-500 calories less of healthier options... I usually end up feeling hungry/unsatisfied and gross after the indulgence that just lasts for 10 minutes.
By the way, as far as weight fluctuations, like someone mentioned, water weight fluctuates...so if you weigh yourself on the scale, you might be 1 to two pounds heavier even if you just had drinken 4 cups of water (one cup of water=8ounces, and there are 16 ounces aka 2 cups in a pound). Rather base your progress on how your clothes feel, or monthly body fat percentages (could be done using a caliper...some gyms have trainers who can measure your body fat percentages that way).
Good luck ladies with this! I suppose finding ways to keep it fun is good. Think of how healthy and fit and good looking we'll look by doing this exercise/eating right is great for our moods too

Yay I just went for a speedy mile run! I'm in terrible cardio shape, so I'm trying to take a step in the right direction. Later I'll hit the gym for upper body and abs.

I'm in too as of tonight!
I don't own a scale so I don't know exactly how much weight I want to lose, but I have been eating like crap lately and only managing to work out about once a week.
I want to have my clothes fit better and to look better naked!
