    Default Sappy Romantic Movies

So i have lately become very into sappy love stories, and wonder if it's partially my hormones haha, or maybe a desire to be swept off my feet. but i just watched the movie with reese witherspoon Just Like Heaven, and of course, was all teary eyed at the end. it was surprisingly good! and the uma thurman film, Prime, was fantastic.

being as i now have a bit of an unhealthy obsession with good love stories, anyone wanna recommend something for me to watch?
is anyone else going through this?

    Love it!

Ohh...the movie just liek heaven was based on a book I read years ago. I will have to go and search for that book, cause I cant remember the title, but it was the BEST book ever. Much, much better than the movie.
"If only it were True" Best book ever.

Anyway...as for sappy love movies..Titanic was on TBS the other night, and of course, I had to watch that. The bitch of it is, now thta I know what's gonna happen, I start crying halfway through the movie, just cause I know whats comming.

The Notebook is a good sappy love story.
Crazy/Beautiful is a stupid movie but I like it. Kirsten Dunst is in it. Her bf in the movie is hot.

ETA: Thoes posts came in as I was typing mine, but yes, Nicholas Sparks is the best. Read anything of his you can get your hands on. The books are always better than the movies. A walk to Remember was a good movie.

I hate the sappy, predictable, unrealistic romances. I HATE Nora Ephron movies. But I love a good love story. I'm with rozz, Eternal Sunshine is the best romance ever.

If you're willing to try a foreign movie, you should definitely check out My Sassy Girl. It's a Korean romance flick based on a popular set of love letters that was penned by a college student about a GF he "inherits" by pure chance. Wacky story about an unlucky-in-love, unassuming college kid who ends up with a psycho GF and ends up nurturing her, whilst she tends to be rather reticent... can't go much into it w/out spoiling, but it's arguably the best ending ever.

There's an American remake in the works (with Elisha Cuthbert & Jesse Bradford), but I'd highly recommend the original. (besides, I can't buy Jesse Bradford as an unlucky chap. Dude's too pretty for that role. Would've bought into someone like Jason Biggs or Jon Heder.)

    Something less exotic? Love Actually.

"In life, we DO a lot in order to accomplish mundane trivial things before we die, but it is in death and after death in memories that we will truly live, because it is in the level of care and detail that a person paints of us with stories from their memories and experiences with us that give us meaning."

Eternal Sunshine rocked my socks. Love it.

Some of my favourite romances are The English Patient, The End of the Affair (yup, this one is the best of the best...I dare anyone to watch it without crying...Julianne Moore is sooo good), and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

And My Summer of Love. I will plug that movie until I die. However, it's more girl gets life than (lesbian) romance...but it's still excellent.

I recently saw Just Like Heaven and loved it!!

I also love most of the JLO romantic comedies - Wedding Planner, Maid in Manhattan, and my fave of hers, Monster-in-Law.

I like romantic comedies better than ones that make me cry. The Holiday with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz just came out and I really enjoyed that.

Lots of good ones on this list!

Some movies that I find romantic aren't the typical romance movie.

How about Il Postino, that is a gorgeous film!

Dance With Me. With hottie Cheyenne and Vanessa Williams. Of course its about salsa dancing, and my friend Richardo Lemvo is singing in a scene. Love it!

Oh, and "Shall We Dance" with Richard Gere and J-Lo. Terrible, but once again I loved it!!

Oooooh, and The Terminal, with Tom Hanks. Not sure if its truly a "romance" movie but its another one of my (ssssh, don't tell anyone I like it) faves.

Classic: "The Way We Were". I don't know why, but I really felt for Barbara in this movie. She just reminded me of me.

True Romance. Lots of violence, but the chemistry is awesome between those two!

Out of Sight. Grrrrr, also good chemistry bet Georgie and JLo.

If you want to go uber-sappy, there is always "Pretty Woman." I saw that so many times when I was about 13. Now I know why I became a hooker, lol!

There is this amazingly sappy russian romance about a guy who places the flute for his lover, but I cannot remember what its called. I did bawl my eyes out though. I think its from the early 80's.

Oooh, oooh, "Like Water for Chocolate."

Okay.. sappy guy here who has kind of a thing for sappy movies.. not drippy like the Notebook.. but sappy nonetheless..

All time favorite.. Lost in Translation.. where I fell in love with Scarlett Johansen
Close second, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but that's already been mentioned.

    Other favorites:

Elizabethtown.. where I fell in love with Kirsten Dunst.. last 15 minutes of this flick always kills me
Garden State.. where I fell in love with Zack Braff.. no, no.. but I am quite fond of him.. this one Natalie Portman stole my heart..
City of Angels.. probably the sappiest of my favorites
50 First Dates.. very sweet Adam Sandler flick
    Edward Scissorhands.. classic..

Oh an old school favorite... Say Anything.. John Cusack holding up the boombox blaring Peter Gabriel!
