Heh you just break them in and get used to the height. Wear them around the house before you go to work...like my friend said you will eventually become one with the shoe.
If they dont have ankle straps take two garters and with the shoes on pull the garters to ankle height then take one end and twist it(like a figure 8 sorta) and slip the loop you just made under your heel. That will strap the shoe tight to your foot, eliminate the wobbly feeling and flip flop effect and it will make you more stable. Sorry if i didnt explain that right but i learned by watching at work...just play around and youll get it.

I feel your pain! I'm getting ready to audition and just got my first pair of shoes, and I totally almost fell right after putting them on!
I've made it a point to wear them while doing housework, though, to break them in and get used to them. I'm walking just fine now...you'll get there!![]()

what about the pain!! there killing me feet...

From the height or the fact that they aren't broken in? Mine have stretched a lot from walking and they feel much better than when I first put them on.

fromt he height

Hmm...I don't know what to tell you about that. Maybe some of the veteran dancers can help you out!![]()
it probably depends on the platform to heel ratio...the higher the platform the less stress there is on your feet. Example if you have 7 inch heel with a 3 inch platform then technically youre only walking(stress and pain wise) on 4 inch heels. You could also get some inserts that will cushion the ball of your foot, raise it a bit to relieve stress and make a snugger fit(which will also stabilize and reduce the wobbliness that contributes to pain)

I hate to tell you this, but you really just have to get used to them. But trust me, you WILL get used to them, mostly. The little muscles in your feet, ankles, and calves will get stronger, and it'll feel way better after awhile. My feet still hurt the next day after work, but its better than it used to be. It also depends on your feet type, like how high your arches are.
Keeping proper form in your legs and ankles will prevent you from falling. Otherwise, know that everytime you buy a new shoe you will go through hell breaking them in. It's hard learning to function in them and breaking them in all at once! Take them off and massage your feet as often as permits when in the dressing room and walking flatfooted plus stretching foot back to normal to minimize pain later. Your feet most likely will get blistered, red, and cut or chaffed during initial wearing. Sucks but true and we've all been there!
very good point...also, what type of heels are they? stiletto? chunky? squared? for many girls who are first starting, it's easier to work in shoes where the heel is blunted rather than spiked....that combined with emiliana's advice about the angle of your foot. don't feel that you have to start wearing 7 or 8 inch shoes. also, consider knee or thigh high boots (with the same heel consideration) if your club allows...i've personally found them to be more stable than shoes. good luck....it takes practice, but you'll get it.
"Seeing the landscape at this superficial level only captures its boring uniformity, not allowing you to immerse yourself in the spirit of the place; for that you must stop at least several days."
~Che Guevara, "The Motorcycle Diaries"
You will get used to them. Now I find stripper shoes to be way more comfy than normal heels.

I used to walk around in my house for like 30min a day, just to get comfortable in them. I would also do my "model walk and turn" in them..if I could do that, then I can wear the heels at work haha.

I find the stripper shoes more comfy for me too. I could walk and run in 6 inch heels without missing a step, but as soon as I wear regular low heel shoes, I twist my foot...

don't worry, you'll be walking in those shoes like a pro in no time.
i know its really really hard at first. i totally sucked at walking in heels. i had a hard time walking in even 3 or 4 inch heels, so i couldn't wear "real stripper shoes" for my first few months of dancing. then i finally got some 6 inch, clear dancing shoes and they weren't too bad. i wore my 6 inch heels as much as i possibly could and switched back into my little 3.5 inch heels when i couldn't handle them anymore. eventually i got used to the big heels, but i had so many blisters on my feet when i first tried and it was very painful. it was also really awkward dancing on stage and trying not to lose my balance!!! but trust me, its gets a lot easier. i can walk in those 6 inch heels just as well as i can walk in tennis shoes now, and the blisters are gone. my best tip for you is to wear shoes that have an ankle strap, or a heel that is a bit more chunky. if you don't like chunky heels and want the classic stilleto, try walking on your tippy toes... like putting all your weight into the front part of your foot rather than the heel. your toes might hang over the front part of your shoe, but it will give you more stability.
hits from the boooong

Try boots. They may be easier on the beginner.

Also were you walking on padded carpet? Cause I still have trouble walking on carpet with my shoes.
He said “make me a sandwich” so I made him a sub.

^^^ True, for the life of me I can't figure out how to walk on squishy carpet, although I can easily walk on harder surfaces.

aha! so many good ideas!
i like the garter one too but i dont think ive ever seen it used.... hmmm...i had to buy 2 pairs of stripper type shoes to get into the groove. i bet sometimes it has more to do with a shitty pair than anything. boots are cool if you're scared of breaking an ankle!

walk carefully around liek CK said for 30 mintues a day. do chores in them. and ya, i agree, i feel better in stripper heels than i do in reg heels. i trip all the time in flip flops. i dont think boots are any easier actually. i started in shoes liek Deni's. those are great beginner shoes. the chunky ones paris posted as beg shoes definitely are but they arent attractive IMHO. they make one look very clunky.
Love it!
ya, its NOT easier in boots, weird! i did find it felt safer in the beginning tho. then i got some strappy stilletos and they were actually easier to walk in and felt more comfortable. funny how they get easier to walk in than reg heels too. so weird.
... but squshy carpet? hell no.
