Saggy chin and circles under eyes

It took me over a year to clear up my skin, but my acne is nearly gone. (And when it isn't, I know why. Thank you, Casual Observer).

It took me 7 months to find a diet that works and that I can actually follow. (Much love to all who have recommended the South Beach diet. It's not always easy, but it is simple.)

It took me all winter to find a workout I like ( Goddess Belly Dance workout rocks! thanks GCG.)

Now I have even more problems. Or actually I probably had these issues all along, but I was distracted by all the bigger issues. But I am depending on you to help me out again.

Issue 1: I frequently have dark BLACK circles under my eyes. This seems to be loosely related to, but not totally dependent on, the amount of sleep I get. Products that do NOT help are Mario Budesco eye cream and Sudden Change. The Mario Budesco gel seems to help some, but I cant wear it under makeup because it has a sort of rubbery texture. Please let me in on any products, foods, techniques, or anything else that may help me. I do try to get enough sleep, but it doesn't always work out that way, as anybody with kids knows.

Issue 2: the skin under my chin is starting to sag. I am totally losing all defintion between my chin and my throat. This really really bothers me. Again, all advice is appreciated.

Thanks ladies. I know I can always count on you for great advice.

Kinerase eye cream totally helps dark circles. It's $75 and you get it from a plastic surgeon or dermatologist. It really does make a difference.

Thermage laser treatment can fix the chin sag. It's a bit pricey but it will take years off your face.

For the chin problem, whenever I see or feel my chin starting to sag, I'll do "exercises" for a couple days and it fixes it for a while. There's a muscle under there and it can be tightened just like anything else. Ok, it's very hard to explain but...it's sort of like a sucking and lifting your tongue up at the same time. You'll know you're doing it right when you can feel that area being tucked in with your fingers. I usually do it driving down the road or sitting at the computer, etc.

I hear preparation H is good for under eye circles. Models use it. I know there is a thread somewhere on it.
For the chin you probably need very minor plastic surgery.
Also see if there is a school of asthetics by you. You can get all kinds of dermatology done for cheap by the last year students.
    Good luck.

Yeah, my b/f's mum, for one, had bad circles as well as other symptoms from a pot-a-day coffee habit. She eventually cut it out because of the other symptoms, and a happy side effect was no more dark circles!

the chin thing bugs me too ..esp lately when I can see it so clearly on film..looks like I have a damn double chin. I havebeen doing the excersizes Lioness describes. I've got the dark circles too. They're really dark when I don't get enough sleep. Honestly, I'd just find a really good method of coverup. I do a light layer of foundation and then a creamy coverup stick from Smashbox. I've heard great reviews about the YSL Touche Eclat (sp?) coverup. I think I'll get it when I'm out of my current stuff.

As far as creams and lotions, I have a gel I bought from the drugstore called Vita K or something. The ingredients are all pretty natural, just chamomile, cucumber, aloe - stuff like that, but it also has a ton of vitamin K, which I guess is good for the skin, and it actually has seemed to help a little bit.

Kinerase is also sold at Ulta now! BTW, what is your age? Or is this due to the wight loss? I have done IPL, which made my skin firmer, there are laser treatments to increase firmness and elasticity. You can also get a peel. I have even tried magnetic therapy. Do an online search. I lost my magnets, but need to buy new ones. I am also from Chicago, and enjoy local recommedations. For dark circles use vitamin K.

I just found this site though and it seems pretty helpful. Maybe this is what Lioness was talking about and I just didnt get it. I did their chin thing and it kinda confused me but I think I got it and my under chin is sore like workout sore, which I guess is good.

Dairy gives me these awful dark dark circles under my eyes, circles which were "genetic." it was just a food issue, most of my family has them. My baby son had them before we realized it was dairy. Too bad, I LOVE dairy.

I've always had them. Badly for a while too. I found that knowing exactly why you have them is key. I always assumed that it was simply caused by my insomnia. Now I know that it's 1 part insomnia, 1 part allergies, and 1 part hereditary coloration/puffiness from my real dad. The first 2 parts I can deal with on a regular basis.... the last bit? Perhaps I can have a surgeon look at it someday.

As for the saggy chin - my dad's cousin had this and she had surgery to get rid of it and WOW what a difference it makes. It literally took years off her appearance!

I just dont believe in creams and lotions and potions or exercises for things like that.

Looking at the saggy-chin exercises now. Surgery is out of the question at this moment. I am trying to improve my look so I can get into one of the better clubs (which was not such a big issue until the housing sales slow-down, which rendered most of my regulars unemployed) so then I can afford to look like I belo99ng in a better club. So off to the chin-gym I go . . . .

I am 38, BTW. (Someday I will have to give up this nonsense of dancing, but I aim trying to wring another 5 years out of it.)

Holiday--what is the Vita-K supposed to do? Circles or chin?

Does anybody know whether taking vitamin K will help? Any other supplements that might help? Arrgh!

Here is a pic of what I look like, or at least whet I did look like in January.

Nope, not a goldfish thing. Like I said, it's really hard to describe, but your cheeks won't suck in and you keep your mouth closed. The only thing that should move is the area under the chin, kinda like you're pulling it up into your mouth and hold it for a few seconds, then release and repeat

Ooooh ok, I get it!! How often do you do it??

I tried the thing that they show in the link I posted... I was doing while reading threads on here actually on and off for about a half an hour before class and oh my god I felt like I'd been attacked for like three, four hours afterward. My under chin and into my neck muscles hurt so bad... it was crazy!! I think I'm going to alternatee between what you're suggesting and what they say. Thanks!!

Vitamin K is used for the under eye circles, you can get this at Whole Foods, or at a health food store. You should also moisturize under your eyes before putting on undereye makeup. I have been using Prevage which is for face, but I also use it under the eyes. It seems to help w/ everything

There's a pilates exercise I was taught called the Tight Chin Minute. You basically lay on your back and slightly lift your head and hold it up for a minute. You should be able to feel it under your chin, in the muscles there, and not strain your neck. You just lift it about and inch maybe. I'm not sure if it'll help that but it's worth a try I guess.
