Default Covering up burn holes on dress

I have a series of small burn holes near the bottom of my favorite gown by the side slit. I can't find another one, i have been looking everywhere online and the shop I bought it from doesn't carry it anymore. So I tried to sew up one of the little holes, but it looks bad. I was thinking about maybe like an embroidered patch to put over it, like some sparkly flowered trim or something, but I am not sure if spandex will hold up to embroidery. Ideas?

My last resort is to take it to the tailor and turn it into a short dress, but I would love to save it as a gown.

    Thanks ladies.

Maybe a seamstress could cut if off, then resew the slit. It would help to see a pic of it. You could put some rhinestones on it if you sew them closed.
