I'm never there. Why watch a show on it?

Yeah, I'm watching and I came here during commercial to post about it!! It is awesome! I love shows like this and I've been on pins and needles waiting for it! It has not disappointed me at all! It will be on every Sunday for the next several weeks, each with different focuses. I think it's very well put-together.

yes me too! I've been waiting for over a month for this series to start and it sure delivered as I found it to be visually stunning! For those who haven't seen the trailer:

"More than five years in the making, PLANET EARTH redefines blue-chip natural history filmmaking and continues the Discovery Channel mission to provide the highest quality programming in the world. The 11-part series will amaze viewers with never-before-seen animal behaviors, startling views of locations captured by cameras for the first time, and unprecedented high-definition production techniques. Award-winning actress and conservationist Sigourney Weaver is the series' narrator."

If you like this sort of programming, you should really try to catch it next Sunday at 8pm! Next week is Deserts followed by Ice Worlds.

Awesome, just awesome. Loved the mountains episode and the ocean episode. Hell, I've liked everything so far, and I don't watch TV much. Just stunning. It's a wonder of filming. Not kidding.

Are they eventually going to release these on DVD? I mean, they'd have to, right? I hoep so.

It was really amazing, I couldn't believe the quality of the photography and videography.

And how about that blue bird of paradise that does the little dance?! That was hilarious.

^I would imagine so but probably not for awhile...maybe they will rerun the series for a bit first.

Oh and wasn't he handsome! All puffed up and doing his little dance, and she dissed him anyway hahaha.

I was saddened by the little baby elephant, lost in the dust storm following his mother's tracks...in the wrong direction. Broke my heart. He was a little trooper too trucking right along like that.

I wish I had a DVR. I was totally feelin terrible for the little elephant.

So, just a reminder to those interested, it starts again in a few minutes. Like LSM said eariler, it's Deserts and Ice Worlds.

Edit: OK so I'm watching this and what do I see flash across the bottom of the screen???? Something about going to www.discoverystore.com/planetearth and buying this on DVD!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't physically checked out the site yet since Im trying to stay on the treadmill (except of course to share the news) but I will be checking that out very soon!

Edit2: Holy shit - it's only $80 for the whole set, available after the series is over - Apr 30!

For $50 you can buy the whole series on DVD...which is what we did. Makayla, Joe and I love watching this!!! And, it's always on at the time the kids are getting ready for bed...so with the DVD's we just watch it during the day on the weekends.

Noooooooo DVD! Planet Earth was just plain made for HD-DVD/Blu-Ray. I watched it on Discovery HD and if you think it looks good on DVD...just wait. The series is available in all of those formats right now, but I'm waiting to pick an HD format before I buy it.
