    Lightbulb dancing or 9-5

    hey ladies,

i just wanted to know (based on your experience) which do you like more... working 9-5 or stripping. yes, i know you make more money dancing but, what OTHER reasons do you have for not doing 9-5? i am working a 9-5 now and my reason for possibly leaving is the fact that i can work when i want and no one to tell me what to do ( i hate it so much). get back with yours. thanks

Each has it's good points. My 9 - 5 jobs are guaranteed money. No ifs, ands, or buts. No real fluctuation. But the club money has the potential to be better, and it's off the books.

I mean working 9-5 where? I mean CEO of a pharmaceutical company or at McDonalds? hehehe If I was right now offered a $12/hr job Id turn it down because dancing makes much more than that.

Im going to school to work a 9-5 really good job. Dancing is my means of getting there. I like dancing for the hours, freedom and money but it is just my hat I wear (or thong) in between.

I like stripping alot more. Ive worked too many 9-5 jobs and I hate them. its always the same shit, different day. with dancing, you have variables. You can make a hundred dollars or a thousand dolars. You can wear this outfit for one set, and another for another set. You talk to hundreds of different types of people. the variables are so broad - I have yet to find a 9 - 5 job like that.

    I agree with burned rose.

I also like the independance it has given me as well as the fact that I can find employment in any city as long as it has a strip club of some kind within it (or even if it didn't, I could go work for an agency doing private parties).

Give me a 9-5 that pays well and the same flexibility, employment and travel options .....

Plus I love the whole being self employed part. Being an employee is not my style.

I like the flexibility, the money, the fact that it enables me to do my studies and have plenty of time to dedicate to it. I am more of a night person and I like having the days(especially nice weather) to enjoy to myself before going into work.

I can't really choose because one benefits me just as much as the other. For example, my day job has free full health benefits while dancing does not. When, I become really ill and can't go into the club, I can take days off from my day job and not lose pay. If I need to save up fast for something, I can take paid days off from the day job and "go hard" at the club. At this point, I can't see doing one without the other because they supplement each other.

I like the time and flexible hours that dancing affords me. I like the fact that I can invest money now that may make me a millionaire by the time I am 30 if I ride out the stock market. I am glad that I don't have to deal with a boss b*tching at me. I like being creative and expressive all of which I can do at work. I like the fact that if anyone messes with me I can always curse them out.

So no, I have no interest in a 9-5; been there, done that.

I love working a 9-5 job. Every 2 weeks I know EXACTLY the minimum amount I'll be taking home (unless I work overtime and then whoo hoo time and a half) LOL honestly I miss working a normal job. I made less money, but it was much easier for me to budget making $850 every 2 weeks vs. working as a dancer and not knowing how much I'll make per night. It can get pretty stressful

I like a lil of both... I have a part-time 9-5 that I keep for the benefits and the cover it provides for my dancing. It's boring though, and doesn't pay so well, so I get my dance on on the side. Symbiotic is the word ;]

    Re: dancing or 9-5

For me, dancing is definitely better! It allows me to spend as much time as I can with my children during the week , while I work Thurs.-Sun. evenings on the weekend. I have had 9-5 jobs before, and I was miserable with the hours, pay, etc. I love the freedom to take a night or weekend off if I want to, and to not have to be on a rigid schedule of "requesting" time off or being 5-10 minutes late for work and such. I have always been a night owl, so the club hours work great for me!! The money is awesome, too!

Who are you telling! I was driving home in tears this past weekend because it was so terrible. These past few days I've been contemplating going back into the military...and just thinking that makes me want to cry even more.

I've never had a 9-5 (working for Uncle Sam is more like 24/7) but I guess I'm about to find out. I'm going to doth both as long as scheduling permits.

oh god this is a no brainer for me. stripping! i thought stripping was my means of getting to my 9-5 but apparently after college well.. i missed it too much esp the freedom of it. so no 9-5 for me.

    Love it!

I'd like to go back to dancing, however I know mentally and emotionally I can't handle it right now. If I had the choice and finances were stable, a 9-5 would have it's perks. I would like to establish a job history and work experience, because it was pretty spotty up to my dancing, and now i have a huge gap in my work history.

Damn, this is something i've been contemplating for a while. I have a 9-5, would like to drop that and strip for a bit, then go back to 9-5. What i'm gonna do is pay off some credit card bills, as soon as that's done then start looking for a new SC. With the bills that I have I want to cut some of it down, before I make the flexible stripping switch. Because with the 9-5, I know that money is promising.

But when i'm ready, i'm gonna do wknds only before I completely leave 9-5. I'm too much of an emotional mess right now to dance too, and my farking big toe nail fell off. That looks so sessy.

Stripping wins hands down for me!
I NEVER liked getting up in the morning for starters - I love working nights!
And theres just so many things I love about stripping no day job can come close!

When I first started working at a club, I liked it better than any job I'd ever had. Then again, that wasn't saying much, since the only jobs I had before paid shitty and were not much better than McDonalds. Dancing allowed me scheduling freedom, much more money potential, and (my favorite) a chance to dress up and show off my sexuality. These days, however, I kinda prefer working a 9-5(or, an 8-4:30 as it is for me). This is because, as Cinnamon Kisses said, the money is less but steadier. The paid sick days and the somewhat "guarantee" of money helps me feel a lot less stressed about things. Then again, my last days of dancing(almost half a year by now) were so dismal that I don't know if I can even say that my 8-4:30 pays drastically less. The health benefits help, too.

There are a few other reasons that at this stage in my life, I like a "regular" job better. The #1 reason is that I do not have to worry about family or old high school classmates finding out. My family doesn't live in my immediate town, but they live close enough(1-1.5hrs away) that I wouldn't want them to find out. Plus, I feel like I am finally utilizing the college degree that I'd worked so hard to achieve. Another big reason is health related. Last year and the year before, I frequently got sick...apparently one of my clean-appearing clubs was a huge germ fest. It is inevitable, with so many people in superclose contact to each other during lapdances, girls touching the pole one after the other, and running around skantily clad in cold weather(I don't care if the club's temp is warmer than outdoors, it's still too cold to be wearing a bikini in January! LOL) One time, I went to work for literally ONE HOUR and in that short time, came down with strep so bad that I could barely talk and had to go home; I was out of work for a week, in pain, and had to pay for meds and doctors' visits out of pocket. This year's winter, I've been a lot healthier, and that's considering that I've been eating a lot more junk food, getting less sleep, hooking up with multiple people, and not working out nearly as much. To have added health stressors is like adding "insult to injury" when you consider that I had to pay for my own health insurance and/or uninsured medical expenses.

I think the issue all depends on peoples' needs. Some people have better equipped immune systems than others. And if I lived say, on the other side of the country from where I'd originally grown up, I wouldn't have the paranoia of people potentially catching me dancing and then having to explain things to people that I already feel intimidated by. Plus, some people are just better suited for sales(after all, dancing is a "sales" job) and work well in an essentially "commission-only" workplace, whereas some people get stressed out with selling and work better as teachers or analysts than salespeople. It also depends on the person's money situation, timing, their life goals and ambitions, their personal desires, and basically their individual situation.

LOL Vyanka I'm dancing sans BOTH big toenails ATM. I just paint a fake nail on my skin with polish, lasts thru the night usually, and even when it doesn't nobody seems to notice (they're not in there to look at our toes y'know hehe).

i am a stripper purely because i made a promise to myself never to do a 9-5 ever again.

i absolutely HATE having a boss to tell me what to do and how to conduct myself. i am bored out of my head sitting at a desk.

i would much rather give someone a good time and make money doing it than be chained to a desk.

to me having a desk job is like a slow and painful suicide.

9-5, oh ugh. I just got a part-time 9-5, and I had forgotten how dull it can be. I'd forgotten about clockwatching, too. Stripping may have it's occasional bad night, but it's is almost never dull, at least for me. Three cheers for nudity for money!
