i work a 9-5 now and as much as you know what you will be bringing in every 2WEEKS... 1. its boring, 2. i feel there is more out there and I want to go to school ( day job makes it hard). 3. I can find little work on the side with stripping (like pso work) to help with income. 4. insurance may be more expensive yes but IS ANYTHING CHEAT THESE DAYS? 5. I hate people telling me when to go to lunch and all that shit!! STRIPPING like so many of you have said is alot better but again it depends on the person. right now... its for me!!
Yeah, but come on, even on your worst week you know you make more than $850 if you work at least three nights. Budget low, earn high, that's my motto.
I hate office work, office politics, cubicles, long hours of boredom, not being able to say what I really think, having to pretend to be nice to people I hate, having to get up early and stay late, having no time to myself, rushing around every morning and evening, not having time to put my child on the bus and get her in the afternoons, not being able to dress the way I want to dress, not being able to take time off when I need it, not being able to afford a vacation or take the time off for one................I could go on and on.
Oh, and I'll add that I hate the power play within offices. I hate being bossed by people with the same level of education and experience as me, I hate being discriminated against by other women because of the way I look, and I hate never being able to get ahead because I won't kiss the asses of the higher ups.
In fact, the only good thing about working in an office is the benefits, and I get those from my husband's employer so no loss there. I can get my own retirement plan and I will certainly save more from dancing than I'll ever be able to do from some crappy job making $35K a year.
Honestly, if we liked working 9-5 I don't think we'd be sitting here on a stripper board. It's not like it's that difficult to find a basic office job. If that's what a woman would rather be doing then by all means she should go and do it. I'll work McDonald's before I'll sit in a cubicle ever again, but maybe that's just me.

Well, it was more than just the $850 paycheck though. I have health, dental insurance, I had tuition reimbursement. You're right, I do make alot more dancing per week but at least when I worked a 9-5 I kept my sanity. I didn't have to worry about drunk guys slurring their words, "heyyyyyyyyyy babbbbby" at me. I didn't have to worry about being fined $50 for being late to the office. Yea, stripping brings good money, but it also takes away mentally too.
Some Douchebag: "[Pimp C] 12:43 am: its true we got to stick together the black people on SW CK you is teh condoleeza of SW"

I work 9-5 and have for a few years. I started dancing about 2 years ago (twice a week). I like the balance, and I like my day job cause it utilizes my education and keeps me in check (from drinking, etc.) But there were many times when I came close to quitting the day job cause I could have made way more $ and had much more free time if I decided to dance about 3 or 4 times a week.
I still dance twice a week, but am so glad I never quit my day career. My day job is a much more positive and healthy envirmonment for ME. It took me years to accept, but now I realize what I can and cannot handle.
Wow, when I saw this thread title all I could think was, a 9-5..... F*CK THAT!!! I really don`t think I could handle a "normal" job after dancing.
this thread is making me almost rethink stripping! is it really THAT much more money? wouldnt seem to be if you could actually compare it... hmm.....
but the thought of dancing nakie sounds so much more fun...

I do both and it's been great for me. Regular job 3 days, dancing 2-3 nights. For me, full time stripping is just as monotonous and unfullfiling as a regular 9-5. I guess I've been lucky that I've had many 9-5 jobs but nothing involving an office, cubicle, or having to cut throat fellow employees. In fact, I feel like I need both, one that's more grounding, and one that's more wild. When I do just one there's a tipping point where I feel trapped and crave the other.
As I get older, I really prefer getting up early, getting work done during the day, and having nights free. That wasn't the case in my mid twenties when I started dancing. Then I wanted to drop out of everything, stay up late and sleep late, so full time stripping worked for a while for me until I got burnt out and realized I needed more balance.
Say you're doing your part to narrow the wage gap between men and women. They might go for that, otherwise, I'm guessing....no.
But when I went to my reunion, I noticed lots of Smithies trying to get out of the 9-5 rat race. I think I was the only one making money though.
