    Default Becoming a BETTER stripper

I have been doing pretty good money wise (for Portland standards) but there are so many talented pole dancers, so many creative outifts, and so many beautiful girls here. I feel like I do OK, but I wanna step it up a little, just to feel better about my job.

    So I am going to:
    - Actually give a shit about my looks. Work out (I never do). Invest some money in some makeup and go to MAC and figure out how to wear it. Right now I literally just wear a little eyeliner and moisturizer.
    - After I get my own place, I'm going to buy a pole and become a pole champion.
    - I'm going to get manicures and pedicures.

Any other ideas? I find that I have my hustle down pat. I just try to be as nice as possible to the guys. But I am not a top stripper, and that bothers me. I mean, I have other things in my life to focus on, but I've been such a slacker in this department, and I think it would make me feel even more confident if I tried to look more glamorous.

(I need to figure out those goddamn falsies!)

    Well anyway. Any tips?

Don't forget to take good care of your hair and skin! If you have a rat's nest up top and dull, zitty skin, all your working out and pro make-up tips won't be of any use!

Biggest thing that I would suggest, outside of what's already been said- a POSITIVE attitude. Doesn't matter how bad your day's been so far- it'll be better and you believe that. A positive outlook has helped turn otherwise horrid days into not so bad ones for me.

Could you work out at a gym or at home? I feel better when I do it.

Looks are just a fragment to becoming a successful stripper, but if it makes you feel better about yourself then pamper away...

But if you really want to see a return in your investment, focus on your hustle. There's always something to learn in this business. Make goals and map a strategy to earn more money.

Don't sweat the small stuff, if no ones's complaining. If it has worked for you so far then don't waste time fixing what ain't broke.

^^ working on the hustle is certainly the most important, but there's a certain level of stripper look we all need to maintain.

SC, get real stripper shoes! It will make me smile.

You have lovely raw materials to work with, so it won't take much; and you will notice the benefits of polishing up a bit immediately.

i also think its been mentioned before that good sex makes you feel sexier, among other things. i think massage works wonders for the body, relaxes you and puts you in a sexy place, great for my money-making too.

Yeah, real 'stripper bits' are great. On an unconscious level, at least, the big spenders will notice if you're wearing pretty tattered lingere and boots from Hot Topic.

Also, real, solid financial goals. For instance, by the end of this year I'm going to have my CC debt eliminated, $4000 in savings and a ROTH IRA opened. (I'm less than a year out of getting my pretty useless liberal arts degree and starting to battle with my student loans and living totally independently.) Just knowing that I have those goals makes thinking about my future and the weird anxiety that comes with making large amounts of cash much, much more tangible.

Then at the end of the month, I reward myself with a day of shopping on NW 23rd. (There's even a Fascinations gear store there now!)

Read The psychology of selling & Superflirt. Reading those two books really helped me snap into the idea that this is a job with specific motivational goals and a specific language. Both books are available at powell's, as I just checked their website. Right now I'm reading the Art of Seduction, but it's a bit of a slog.

Also, there are some great pole dancing classes out there, both at gyms and privately. I know that Athena (miss nude oregon) and Aine (from the acropolis) both have cheap private lessons. I'll bet you could get hooked up w/ Athena pretty easily if she still works @ DI.

Good sex does make me feel sexier, but I've found that I have better nights when I'm not getting some. It's like I send out a vibe that I'm "on the prowl."

I second having a positive attitude. Even if you're having the shittiest night, just try to be positive and keep smiling.

Act as if you are the most successful and hottest property in the club. If guys think you are the most in-demand dancer, then you will become the most in-demand. You don't have to walk around with your nose in the air, but walk around like you own the place. Good posture, head held high, and a sexy walk. Think of the most successful dancer you've ever met, and then pretend to be her.

Oh, and tanning. I always pooh poohed tanning because it's bad for you, but now that I'm tanning I realize that I look at least 50% hotter than I used to look.

^^ self tanners! self tanners! A far better alternative for those of us who only turn pink.

Obviously, being a top earner has to do with your looks. You must look "done" at all times... hair done, nails done, well kept out fit that matches, neat make up.

But also, it's in your head. I think you are psyching yourself out by saying, "Oh, I can't do what those other girls do" or " I can't make as much money as they do."

You're throwing out energy that says, "I don't deserve to have that."

Try putting a more positive spin on it and say, fuck it, if so and so can make that money, so can I!
