    Default Cervical Polyp

So i have posted before about having a lot of discharge and a funny smell when in my work thongs. someone suggested rephresh, so i went that route for a while. well, the discharge is worse than ever and last week i gushed blood after sex. i mean gushed as in dripping down my legs, like nothing ive ever seen. pretty scary. but i thought it had to with having sex at the end of my period. well, i was wrong. and my discharge from my supposed YI was not that.. i finally went to the doc and i have a polyp on my cervix! anyone else ever have this? i was totally freaked out when he told me and he coudl tell, so he got me a mirror to show me, which was totally ewwy and weird. but sure enough i have one. my boyfriend had been ocmplaining for weeks now that i was extra dischargey during sex and apparently this polyp is a mucous thing. i did some research on it and im a lot less worried bec i knew polyps could lead to cancer later but the articles i read said very rarely does it lead to cervical cancer. anyways anyone else out there ever have this?

ETA: will have to have minor surgery to correct this.

I think my ex-roomate had this once, but I'm not 100% sure. Whenever she had sex, she would just gush blood everywhere and she had to have surgery to fix the problem. She didn't say anything about a discharge though.
Well, at least you know what's up and now you can take care of it! It could always be worse.
    Feel better soon!

I had one. Bled after sex like Carrie at the prom. My gynecologist opened me up with a speculum, saw what it was, grabbed that sucker with forceps, and twisted it right off. Didn't hurt a bit. Had it tested, and there were no problems detected whatsoever. After that, no more bleeding after sex.

omg like carrie at the prom.. thats classic! dead on description for how i bled too.
yea he didnt remove it today because he wanted to make sure i wasnt having other infections since discomfort isnt always associated with a polyp necessarily.

i keep reading (which makes no sense for me though) that this happens most often to women over 20 who've had kids. im 25 but no kids (that i know of haha). seems odd.

Sorry to hear that Chrissy. Are u going to have to have more regular check-ups because of this?

I know when it comes to polyps in other places such as the nose they usually monitor the person just incase a cancer develops.

    Hope u feel better!

yea i usually do go regularly, but was overdue for my yearly visit.
with the cervical polyp apparently (from what ive been reading) they rarely lead to cancer. i knwo other polyps are more prone to it. thansk jaizaine.

retail therapy was great. bought myself a ton of new kitchen-related items.
