Default I, Minette, do solemnly swear

that I will go to work tomorrow(today technically), no matter what, even though I'm going to bed way too late tonight, also, I will go on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I admit to the world that I am a huge slacker and need to expose myself to the threat of (more) public humiliation to go to work. Having a part-time job that sucks does not excuse one from going to the fun night job that really pays the bills. If I miss a night, I will come back to this thread and 'fess up. In such a case, I will fully deserve to be beaten soundly with pink flamingos. No excuse, short of broken legs or the club burning down, will suffice; all criticism and mockery will be accepted. Of course, I realize I'm opening myself to criticism and mockery just by admitting to such slackerism, but, hey, it's the internet. The important thing is shaming myself into going to work. Virtue through shame - it's the new hot thing.

You sound positively Catholic in that last comment.

As long as you work three out of those five nights I will not shame you in public. Five in a row is a bitch. Unless you have worked less than five nights total in the last month, in which case we will all point at you and do the hypocrite dance as we shout "Slacker Stripper!"

The fact that the OP was magnificently written will not excuse you from severe and merciless chastisement, should you violate this sacred covenant you have sworn to us, your industry associates.

Does that make you accountable for my accountability?

Nah, if I'd been raised Catholic, the virtue through shame would be old hat rather than the new hot thing. The hypocrite dance - I love it! What kind of music does one do it to?

Why thankee - I'm, as Emily put it in another thread, 'putting my expensive Smith education to good use'. I've gotta use it for something, and what better than SW? I now flee to work to avoid chastisement both severe and merciless. Also shame.

Totally went; totally made my goal in spite of suuuuuuuper slow night. [Doing a little dance! Sha-kin' my booty! Doing the washing machine! ] And now, for my next trick. . . I go again!

Virtue...shame...*cringe* Those words should be eliminated from the English language.

But anyway, just a suggestion - you can tell me to fuck off if you want - but why not quit the shitty PT day job so you can have more time and energy to work the fun night job?

You better be there tomorrow! Or I'm TELLING!

Oh don't worry - any use of either of those words coming from me is totally flip; I agree that in serious use - they totally shouldn't be allowed. And, no fuck offs from me, it's a reasonable suggestion, and I'm really only doing the job to avoid my resume gap getting any longer. The gap I have so far I could explain away with the fact that I was taking classes, but now it's getting a little questionable. I've already had problems with the last sex industry-related gap in my resume from years ago. Sometimes I think about tossing the whole straight job thing, but I really do want to grow up to be a couples counselor, so I've got to take care of the resume. Boo, hiss to a society that doesn't see what we do as valuable work.

Does that mean I get to tell on you, if say, just hypothetically, you weren't there? See you next week?

Thank you. You'll notice I had to post to get myself to stick to it though. It's worked better than any other technique I've tried to get myself to go consistently - I highly recommend it. Want to make any public declarations about your upcoming week? C'mon - join the fun!

Well that makes sense, then. To me, having a resume isn't as important as it might be for some people so I don't think about these things much. Good luck!

*hangs head guiltily* I KNEW you'd call me on that, as is your total right! I had both car issues and event-that-weekend issues. But ya, when I called in I totally thought "Man, Minette is gonna scoooold meeee!" I WILL be there this week though, unless there's some sort of act of God that prevents it . . .

I worked all the days I said I would this past week, so no public chastisement for me!

Heh, heh. Sucks about your car though - I've never met it, but it kind of sounds like a bitch, seems like it's always giving you grief. Do you and your car have an abusive relationship? I'll look forward to seeing you this week - I too will be there short of acts of god, Wednesday through Saturday, babeeee, so I'll see you on Friday.
