Infertile?
How easy is it to get pregnant? Not that I am trying but am just curious. I do not use any b/c (been w/with my guy 3 years now) and there have been at least 20 times where he just let it go without pulling out but I have never gotten pregnant. I am beginning to worry that when I actually do want to have kids I won't be able too

Re: Infertile?
It's 20% per ovulation cycle to get pregnant. It's rather difficult in all honesty, especially if you're trying. You have to time it right. Some people get lucky(or unlucky) to catch that time right away. Average is 3 months, normal is up to a year, after that it's concerning and you should see a dr.
I am not fertile. I had a miscarriage and finally had 1 viable pregnancy (my daughter) the month I was to see a fertility specialist on base. I'm satisfied with 1 child if it never happens again, and I'm glad I had her now rather than wait till later to have kids when it might have been more difficult to conceive. I had sex for 3 years with no protection and never got pregnant before my miscarriage. Like I said, I'm no where near fertile.
20 times for you, not timing it? It shouldnt worry you too much. You'll probably be fine if you time it right and give it a few months. As long as you're regular with your cycles you shouldnt be too concerned with fertility.

Re: Infertile?
Boyfriend and I were loosely timing it--what happens, happens, but knew when the best times would be--and it took less than 2 months from the time that we agreed that it was something we both wanted in the near future until I was pregnant.

Re: Infertile?
Check your cervical mucus daily. When it is clear and stretchy like egg whites, you are fertile, as sperm can survive in and swim through this type of mucus, and ovulation is only about 4 days away. The egg lasts 24 hours, so there is about a 5-day period where you are fertile. After ther egg dies, the mucus goes back to being pasty.
This is how I have avoided becoming pregnant--by checking my fertility cycle. I don't use the pill or condoms when I am in long-term monogomous relationships. There is also a tiny "microscope" you can buy behind the counter at the pharmacy called Luna. Every morning, spit on the slide, and check the pattern of the dried saliva through the lens. When you are fertile, the pattern changes to a ferning-like design--kind of like frost on a window.
Your body can't lie--just have to know what to look for!

Re: Infertile?
If you're not trying you should NOT be NOT using birth control! o.O; Hello thar disaster!
There is definitely a specific time frame in which one gets pregnant...
Not to be mean, but what DO you know? I mean, it seems like there was no sex-ed at your school.... :/

Re: Infertile?
Umm, my best friend used to say that she didn't think she was very fertile. Now she is 7 months pregnant. Just when you think you can't get pregnant, that is when you do. Better to be on the safe side.

Re: Infertile?
I wonder about my fertility also. I have had many accidents over the years, and dont think Ive ever been pregnant. There was one time, I thought I was, and Im still not sure if I was or not. One doctor said yes, the hospital said no when I started bleeding. Anyway...there was a time when I (stupidly) had sex with a guy without protection, he came in me more than once( I told him not to, but again - stupid) I did the math, and turns out, it was perfect timing for me to get pregnant. I couldnt get ahold of EC. Thoes 2 weeks were the longest of my life, and the most expensive. I took 2 pregnancy tests a day. Finally, I got my period, and about 100 negative tests. But I've always wondered. Did being on Depo for 8 years mess up my fertility? Maybe I never was fertile?
Theres only one way to find out, and I'm not willing to try it. I'm sure I'll figure it out in due time.

Re: Infertile?
i think it's a fair question. in my 20s, i would've been knocked up in 2 seconds had i not been on the shot.
however, i have not used any form of b/c with husband at any time and wondered why the hell in 3 years i didn't even have a scare. (including narrowing my eyes at depo wondering if it made me infertile).
that said, you get older and your fertility drops off; your life gets stressier and bingo, you couldn't buy a baby if you tried. we have definitely NOT been careful and it took me this long to get pregnant. (happened in the holidays when stress was low)
i had given up on the prospect of being able to get pregnant... then lo, ticker central.
