I have a friend who's been in line waiting for citizenship for two years. He has a work visa BUT no citizenship yet. Is it wrong to try and get him married off in case he isn't granted citizenship before the work visa expires?![]()

If you have to ask, it is probably wrong.
I have taught that the sky in all its zones is mortal and its substance was formed by a process of birth
You can try to play matchmaker and if they really hit it off and fall in love then its not wrong. But, getting married just for citizenship, obviously, is not a good idea!

i dont see anything wrong with it. many people in my family have done it to live here legally. now most of them have homes, families, and most of all their own businesses.

PJ, he's been here for two years, he's been working steadily and attending community college. He's a standup guy. I think he's starting to panic about the future , though.

Hold on, please double check that. I went on the INS site and they don't say you have to wait five years.
Can you automatically keep working until given a decision on citizenship?

Here is an overview of the requirements

yes, it's wrong.

It's hard to judge a question of any behavior as right or wrong, because it suggests that all situations are black and white. But on my own scale of judgement, with the small amount of information given, I would put it farther on the "wrong" scale of things, yes.
Yes, it is wrong. He is better off making sure he gets a new work or student visa instead.
It is wrong. Simply because getting him married off has to involve another person. It isnt right to affect the life of an innocept person.
Now...you could play matchmaker anyway, just because he is a stand up guy, and he deserves to be happy wth another person. If they hit it off and ended up married for the right reasons, or if this girl he met wanted to marry him to help him stay in the country, that isnt wrong.
Realize you cant just get married and thats it. You have to go through reg checks by INS to ensure your marriage is "real". They will ask personal questions..if you dont know things a wife would know you are flagged and he can be permanently deported. They will come to yor home on unscheduled checks to see if you are really living together(and sleeping in the smae room, etc)And it isnt an instant thing. My friend and her hubby have been married 5 years and he JUST got his perm. resident card. NOT a citizen yet. You have to be married for years AND live together as husband and wife
IMO....it's a lot for anyone to ask. Not right or wrong...but it's a HUGE commitment if you dont love him and actually want to be married to him
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.
