    Default Party Monster

Has anyone seen this flick?? Just watched it on Independent Film Channel. What a fucked up movie! It's about the club kids of the late 80's/early 90's and Peter Gatiens club, Limelight. It has almost (almost!) put me off any partying for a long time. A good movie tho, I recommend to anyone who likes movies about clubbing/drugs/partying.

    Re: Party Monster

I have been intrigued by this movie ever since I saw it in the art house section of my local video store. I have always wondered what it was about.

The Limelight! Dang!!! That's taking it back girl ...

I was up in there with my crew almost every single weekend during the 90's (I had connex and business there).

Judging by the way you described the film, the film is dead on !!!

We thought of Limelight as the Studio 54 of our adolescence; and it probably was:

You would not believe this ish that went down in there, and if I told you, you wouldn't believe it either.

You were watching IFC last night? Tee hee, you and I might have been doing the same thing at the same time yesterday .

Did you see Boogie Nights ? I hadn't seen this one either, but it came on last night and I thought it was hillarious! It basically illustrated the technicalities of pornography.

The names were hillarious; Jack Horner (pun intended) and Rollergirl-

    ROFLMAO !

Below, some of the film dialouge:

Dirk -"The name was so explosive that the neon sign just blew up."
Jack - "Well, what was the name?"
    Dirk - "Dirk Diggler."

Dirk - "So, where do you want me to come?"
Amber Waves - "You could come on my tits if you want. Just, when you're ready, pull out and come on my tits, okay? You'll be fine honey."

Jack's partner - "So, Jack tells me you've got a huge cock. May I see it? "

Interviewer - "So, what do you like about Dirk?"
Rollergirl - "He's so special, you know? He's got a huge cock, he knows how to fuck gentle and he knows how to fuck hard - he's just the best. I love him."

    >Cue cheesy porno loop.

    Chicka bow wow...

    ROFL .

The acting was a bit meh for me but I thought that it was about time that they did a movie about those guys.

I've seen this movie a few times. I like stuff that is out of the Hollywood norm so I enjoyed Party Monster.

I remember seeing the actual talk show that the real "Party Monsters"appeared on so that part of the movie was a bit wild for me.

Haven't seen the movie, but have watched the documentary (they have both at Netflix) and loved it. Documentaries are awesome; I just saw one about Annabel Chong last week that was really good as well.

I thought Seth Green was hilarious in it. James St. James' original book "Disco Bloodbath" was fun, too. Over the top and oh so gay, but in a good way, ya know, like Mast.

I met Keoki once and he actually introduced himself to me, hand extended like a woman, palm down, as "Superstar DJ Keoki". What a fucking douche.

So you're saying the movie was nice enough to call you the next day?

I ADORE James St. James! He's someone I would love to be friends with. He has such a fun vibe about him.
I loved his first book so much. His writing sytle is so laugh out loud funny & adorably gay. Thanks for the link, Alexxa. I just pre-ordered his new book. I can't wait to read it.

Yes it came out 4 years ago. And I know the people that they based that on and needless to say the character Chloe played was actually a man in real life ( freeze ) the only chick that really hung with everyone was Jenn.

    James is the shit

    and while Im ranting

Keoki is a fucking child molestor eom

    Tart,

Isn't there a "Freeze" person in the film? Did they just split the actual personality into two parts for the film or something? Any opinion on why they made it a part for Chloe rather than having the guy who played "Freeze" or any guy for that matter play it more real to actual events?

I also want to hear more about Keoki being a child molestor. That was a hell of a bomb to drop with no details attached. Talk about leaving us hanging, lol.

Inquiring minds want to know more!

Gitzie (the person Chloe portrayed) did actually exist. She died of a heroin overdose as portrayed in the movie.

So let me get this straight. Gitzie was a real chick but not a SO as it is shown in the movie. The SO was actually Freeze. Is that correct?

Any idea why it was changed around for the movie?

I don't think either of them were a real SO - Gitzie was sort of his fag hag and Freeze was a drug dealer he hung out with/lived with. Michael Alig's boyfriend was someone completely different from both of them at the time he was arrested. I think his name was Brian (?). He was not in the movie but he was interviewed in the documentary.
