    Default Pole Hurts Ankles

I think I will def be paying that tip out to not be on stage now that I'm working where there's poles again...

At my first club, wow. I am hw proportionate and was at my prime working-out stage when I started there, and everytime I tried to climb, I wrapped my ankles around and OW!!!!! And then I would try starting with gripping it in my inner thighs, and in that case it was even harder using my upper body to pull myself up...

Has anyone experienced this? What they thought was an xtremely hard time getting up there in the first place (not even talking about tricks!) Did you overcome it and why does this happen??

Once you get the correct climbing technique it wont be as physically challenging that you think.

    To climb:

    - one foot in front
    - other foot behind - using the top of your foot

the movement is: arms higher, feet, arse (moving your arse kind of pushing it out) is the key to climbing the pole without too much physical exertion.

Hope this was helpful, it's very hard to explain a pole move in writing.

You can go on stage and not do pole work.

see if any of the girls would be willing to teach you pole tricks. Go in during the day, when its not busy or something, and ask for one of them to teach you a few things. I have a class today that I am taking. I pay her $30 for an hour to an hour and a half. I can climb the pole, do the basic fireman's spin thingie and a few other lil tricks..but it gets me by.

Hell yah it would hurt if you tried to climb a polee using your ankles!! Climb it my hooking the top of one foot on the pole and "stepping up" with your other foot, repeat.

You can go onstage without doing pole tricks. I'm starting to think they're overrated...whenever I do them, all I get is more wear and tear on my shoes, bruises, and dumbfounded stares from the custies. They watch me flipping around 25 feet above them, looking like they're about to start drooling on themselves...but they don't pony up any extra $$ for it. Not worth it, really, IMHO.

When I first ever started climbing the pole, it was the top of my foot that KILLED ME! Seriously, I had the ugliest, largest bruise on it! I hook my foot around the pole (so that the pole's touching the top of my right foot) and then I hook my left foot behind my right foot to sort of keep my right foot gripped. I've seen a girl climb the pole just using her arms and thighs and I thought it looked better... I'm currently working on toughening up my inner thighs to do the same... Oy, it hurts!

I'd suggest leaving the pole alone for a while so your ankles can heal. You'll get stronger and tougher soon enough!
