    Default London clubs...yep another thread...

some help please, ive looked over the old threads/club reviews on London, but im wondering if some of that info is outdated.

are there any clubs in central London (ie zone 1 or 2) that allow touching? i dont have a clue how to sell a non-touching dance, and am a little worried ill get over there and fail because of it.

also, i like large busy clubs, is spearmint and stingfellows the only big clubs?

oh, and how does it work when the club closes for the night, like, the trains stop running before the clubs close, so are there busses to get home still, or is it a cab ride only thing? (weird question ,i know)

Selling a non-touching dance is the same as selling a touching one, dont worry about it!
I was in London two (UK) summers ago and it was fairly dead from what i could make out in terms of stripping and the clubs already full of dancers. It took 2-3 months for a space to come up at one of the clubs I applied to in London. I dont know if that was a freak year or just the norm for summertime, but I was told that things pick up from around September.
I cant remember about the trains now sorry - I stayed in central London so it didnt really matter.
I know its been said many times before, but unles you specificaly need to be in London or the South, try other cities in Britain. Everyone flocks to London!
Good luck though, how long are you going for? I want to go back!

    2-3 months!! GULP!

we are planning to book flights for 3 months there, but if i can find a decent 'home' club, and my partner gets a decent job, we will stay on for a few years.

we arent limiting ourselves to London, but it depends where he gets a job as to where we will live, and London is the usual starting point

i am, as always when i 'decide to move countries' stressing about the unknown. sometimes i wonder if its this feeling i love that makes me keep doing this, over, and over, and over... lol

    Yeah London sucks for dancing.

All clubs in London are strictly no contact. The big clubs are Stringfellows, Spearmint Rhino which seem to be horrible to work at (too many girls, high fees). There is also Sophisticats, Windmill in Soho, a few different branches of Secrets, Metropolis and the pubs Browns and The White Horse.

Summer will be particularly crappy but at any other time you will get hired straight away, most of the clubs take everyone because they stuff the clubs full of girls and charge outrageous fees. Welcome to paradise!

Oh and night buses run all night, there is always a way to get home. Cabs (like most things in London ) are very expensive.

Ok just reread that and it sounds horribly negative If you are a good hustler you can make good money in the clubs, you've just got to work hard. I don't want to put anyone off

thanks for that Kabukicho, its not negative, its realistic

i know im gonna have some severe competition with all the eastern europeans and brazillians there, and ive heard so many times money is shit there, but we are attempting it for my partners career sake.

im a good hustler, and i im kinda sorta confidant i have the looks....

You could also try Browns and The White Horse. They are easier places to work at, I hear its difficult to get hired but I think you will have no problem.

I know what you mean about moving to new countries over and over again, something about the leap into the unknown that I love.

Good luck, I hope it all works out for you.

Don't worry about getting a job in London, most places take on most girls just to keep their house fee income up. Several clubs like Venus, Secrets { there are 5 across London}, and Metropolis recruit via " The Stage" trade newspaper nearly every week. As well as the central London clubs depending on where you live there are also places like Route 66 { Park Royal}, LA Confidential { Ealing}, and Majingoes { Isle of Dogs}. There are at least 20 clubs in greater London.

Generally speaking I always recommend the good strip pubs like the White Horse or Browns because they are busier, friendlier, and have less girls on. The system is that you collect before a stage show { full nude} from the audience who put in £1 coins. Browns is quite big and on a busy night often has 1-200 men there so the jug collection on it's own can be £300 or more. At Browns there is { non touching} private dancing at the back as well at £15 a throw, the White Horse just does stage shows { it's my favourite place} but they only have a maximum of 5 girls on so you do 6-7 shows a shift and the house fee is only £10. Browns has a sister pub called the Griffin and if you get taken on there { it's not easy} you will get maybe 5 shifts a week off them so you won't need to work elsewhere, at the WH you will only get 2 shifts a week so you will need somewhere else. Both pubs are near Liverpool St station and attract quite a lot of city trade, they are both open from 1pm, Browns stays open until 1 or 2am, the WH until 11.30. They both audition and expect a reasonable stage show, not just a bored shuffle holding the pole which will be enough in most clubs.

If you want more background look in www.strip-magazine.com or go into the articles section of www.mypole.co.uk .

Summer does tend to be quieter as a lot of locals are away though London gets lots of tourists and has lots of big sporting events { eg Wimbledon} , major pop events, and things like the Ideal Home Exhibition which fill the place up.

The tubes stop running around midnight but some of the proper railways run later and start very early in the morning. A lot of the central London clubs stay open until 4am now so you might be able to catch the first train back in the morning at 5 or 6am. There are all night buses on popular routes.

Just to say that although London is expensive to live in and congested it is a great place and has culture, history, night life etc etc to keep anybody interested. there are loads of Aussies and Kiwi's there { in fact loads of every type of person} and there have been plenty of Aussie strippers working over here succesfully over the years. currently Heidi is probably Browns top girl and she is an Aussie. If you were to try Browns don't tell them you may be gone in 3 months as that would probably rule you out.

Touching is not officially allowed at any of the clubs though there is a thriving private party scene where full contact dances are the norm.

Oh thats a good amount of time! There is so much to see and do over there though. I stayed for 4 months and didnt want to leave. I cant wait to go back.
I was just blogging the other day about how hard it can be to settle in one place once you start moving around. Watch out - once you get over there the rest of Europe is so close, lol!
Youll have a great time Im sure!

Ha, nowhere really. Im from Hastings England originally and once I got back there I didnt want to leave or at least I didnt want to go any further than London. The closest strip clubs were in Brighton so I did 4 nights at Top Totty but it really wasnt worth it so that was it.
Next time I shall probably venture further a field. Hastings has a strip club now, but I doubt its very busy either since Brighton wasnt.

^^^ Haha, I know - it is one of the best run clubs Ive ever worked in though! They were so nice there, its just a shame that the club was so quiet. Also it was heaps conservative compared to Aussie clubs, Ive heard alot of the English clubs are though. It was also a topless only club - last I heard they were still trying to get a full nude license.

Since you worked there a new club called Grace has opened in Brighton which is full nude so I think Pussycatt and TT { both owned by the same man} will be full nude as well by now. Spearmint Rhino has a license to open a club there and FYEO also have one in the pipeline, it looks like there will be 6 or 7 clubs in Brighton by the summer. The change of licensing laws meaning that pubs can stay open very late now has resulted in lots of old fashioned disco type nightclubs closing and some have been turned into lap dance clubs. It's created a 2nd boom in clubs and now places like Birmingham have 12 clubs, Leeds 9, Leicester 5, Bournemouth 5, and even somewhere like Huddersfield has 3.

It's far too many and a lot of clubs are only being kept open by house fees, I expect club closures to start exceeding club openings in 2008 but for the moment new clubs are coming thick and fast.

The reason London sucks for dancing because it's completely counter intuitive. I worked at Stringfellows and there was no contact, not even sitting on someone's lap to get a closer, more intimate sale. And no private rooms, nothing, so what are they really paying for???

I'm pretty confident that Browns and White Horse are always busy, perhaps even more so than the clubs. As Tyke says they are close to Liverpool Street which is the big financial area. Less girls and more customers unlike the clubs where the girls often outnumber the guys.

Yes, if you want busy the strip pubs are generally much busier than the clubs and have far less girls on. Browns and the WH also have decent changing rooms, good sound system { you use your own music}, professional DJs, and proper stages with poles etc. Some of the other strip pubs are grotty though you can still make money.

Some do, some don't. Browns has private dancing { very strictly non contact} at the White Horse it's stage shows only.

    Hi babe,

have just some new info about London scene so thought I would share it.

Lots of new dancers are coming to my club for an audition now, at least they are very picky in who they hire as my place is not big at all.

There's this Brazilian girl who worked in Stringfellows for a few years but said that now you cannot possibly make money anymore, there can be around 140 girls on Thur night and sometimes around 100 customers !!!
So very hard work indeed, plus all your money is monitored (you are not allowed to accept cash anymore...that's been going on for a few months) - not great for the taxes...

I've spoken with a few girls who used to work in Browns, all of them said it was a great place to work and all of them were sacked (needless to say, they were in the club for years, and I mean 4+ !!). Thus it must be quite a good place to stay, money is said to be steady and OK but you cannot make a grand. But your shift is just 4 hours. As Tyke said though, it's hard to get hired.

I've heard lots of things about Secrets in Holborn, but don't know to what extend they are true. Most people I spoke with said the money can be very good, BUT that there are lots of extras going on, a friend of mine saw dancer giving customer a HJ,some dick licking, etc. I just cannot imagine how that would be possible if in most of the places you cannot even touch the customer at all, but on the other hand, I know that this particular girl is not a lier and I've heard similar things from others too.
Maybe somebody here works there and can tell us what's going on ???

As far as the public transport goes, you can use night buses but it's much safer to take a taxi, it's not extremely expensive especially if you live close to centre.

Let us know if you decided to come over

    x

Stringfellow's newer club in Soho has stopped having dancers on Friday and Saturday nights, I think there is going to be a big fall out of clubs soon as I think there are far too many similar ones. Mind you I know a couple of new ones in London looking to open soon !

Browns does have periodic culls of their girls but many have worked there for 10 years or more, in the end once you hit 35 it will be your last year there even if you still look great.
