Default Who works at a dive?

So I'm fed up with the Vu (it's detailed in another post) and I've decided just to leave before they suck the life and money out of me. There's a club not too far from there that's an alcohole and pastie club, and kind of a dive. Not many girls, even fewer pretty girls and I guess it's not very clean. I'm young, I do pole tricks, I'm not full of myself, but I know I'm attractive. I think I could be the big fish in a small pond. I've already "cut my teeth" so to speak, and know the hustle and how to dance, and then there's the legendary "new girl" money, so I think I'm gonna go for it. Anyone else enjoy being the big fish? Any advice for me?

um it depends on how crappy the club is how well you will do becuse if its the custy base that goes there has been going there for awhile they are going there becuse they want what the nasty girls provide but if its just an average place your theory should work. Try it if you don't like y ou don't have to stay.

I've been to the Ypsilanti Vu, and had a SO who worked there for a couple of months--she hated it. I don't blame you. She made good money working there even after they took over 33% of it (she was very beautiful and confident), but she hated the constant specials and the general atmosphere.

Is the club you are talking about the one west of there with the jukebox? I went there with her, she tried it too--but the drive was a bit much.

Being the big fish in a dive can be kind of cool, I worked in a busy dive in Daytona, and the attractive women who had a sense of humor and a lot of spirit did pretty well.

What the hell, try it for a few nights, it can't hurt...

The girls might be mean to you because of the competition you'll give them. But, if it's better money, who cares?

It depends on how crappy the place is. It could be like, so crappy that there aren't many custys and the ones who are there expect extras.

Good luck to ya, and let us know how it goes!

Djoser - I'm at the Ypsilanti Vu now! What was your SO stage name, if you don't mind my asking? I'm currently bound for Leggs, hopefully the money and the atmosphere will be better.

I always preferred "dives" to the high class gown clubs. Depends on the dive though..i've worked in scummy drug and hooker riddled ones(and hated that just as much) and small neighborhood bar type...which were usually MUCH friendlier laid back and fun.

Djoser will testify that the club I work at when I am in Key West coudl def. be classified as a dive. But I can leave for months and come back and people cheer and hug me and say how happy they are to see me. When I broke my toe and couldnt get my foot into a stilletto..the manager let me dance in flip flops! I always have fun there...as opposed to other places where I ws miserable and everyone was crabby, bitchy, and generally an asshole most of the time!
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.

Hmm I started at a dive (in MI actually, Centerfolds) before moving up to a bigger better club. I can't work in a dive now, ever. I've tried to go back, but I don't do as well since I am accustomed to better and that comes off as snobby/bitchy to a lot of customers.

Same applies here, I would guess--though I don't know you as well as Cally.

Furthermore, a certain toughness is absolutely indispensable to survive more than a few months as a well-adjusted person, from what I have seen. Some might perceive this as bitchiness. I generally admire it, especially when it is used to put asshole customers in their place

Cameron, I wouldn't call that club a dive. Sure, it's not Scores, but it is fairly well maintained and clean, it has a great stage and nice furniture, etc., for a club its size. There are no obvious drug dealers, the customers don't smell, etc. Especially compared to my last club in Daytona, with associated murders, dealers, fences, felons, and at least half the dancers turning tricks on any given night.

I could go on, but I'm tired from a great night at work.

ChubbyChaser, I will PM you her probable stage name (I forget which one she used for sure) in the morning--about 5PM for me, lol! I don't want to compromise her privacy even if it's been a bit over three years.

    1) Not all dive clubs are dirty/nasty. I've worked in 2 that were really lacking in extras. They really were TOO small to hide any (and they had a hard working management/bouncer staff).

    2) Don't let it get to your head. I was the Top Girl at a dive once. Even if it IS good for your self esteem, don't become an effin diva. No one likes it, even customers... especially regulars at a dive. They tend to like the laid back, realness of the un-divas.

I have been at my dive club for almost 5 years, a few downfalls I have noticed
Lots of D guys, who don't go for "A" girls.. Sometimes they seem th prefer the chubby homely girls.
We had a thread a little why back about guys prefering inperfections.
We have a jukebox, UGH!!!!! I am so picky about music this can really suck.
Extra's girls, and just beyond drugged and drunk.

    A few bonuses
no pay out, we tip our door guy, and bartenders, the most to be paid out in a night is $9.
The neighberhood feeling, and the reagulars are there alot....
Give it a shot, 5 years later I never thought I'd still be there..
There is no better buzz then busting a nut !!!

I agree with all that...by dive I meant that compared to big show clubs..its a small crowded neighborhood bar. It has girls girls girls in neon outside! And girks can dance in cut offs and a wife beater....none of that is bad,.it's what i like about it!!

You have a different idea of a "dive" than I do, lol. I definitely didn't think the place you work at in KW was a dive. Sure, it's not fancy, but I thought it was just as nice as the other ones we visited.

Well, no, it's not a big upscale show club. And as soon as you walk in the door, there's a sort of a comfortable, relaxed feeling, that you aren't going to have in a big club in Vegas, for instance.

I still wouldn't call it a dive, but I totally understand what you are saying, Cameron.

It's like the 'neighborhood' strip club, I've worked in a few of those, in addition to the 2 that were more or less dives in the way I would define the term. It's also physically bigger--it's a medium-sized club, not really small.

ChubbyChaser, maybe you should just come down here instead--the hell with Michigan, lol. I'm joking, but the club Cameron refers to could actually use a few more dancers (especially since she doesn't show up enough!), and money is way better down here than up there!

I used to be like "oh yeah, a dive! Big fish, small pond!" but the truth is that it isn't about the looks exclusively. It's about the personality and the hustle and every guy is into his own thing - which may not be you.

make sure your ego doesn't go to your head.... don't rely on the big fish status.

I will admit to being guilty of this sin...the joke is my ego grew apace with my tits. I've calmed down since then but still my horns and claws do pop out every so often.

oh I'm still guilty of this, too. I guess that the club that I work at now is a bit... better re: looks of the girls. Even when there is a "holy fuck this girl is hot!" girl at the club though, it doesn't mean she will bank... sure she has a greater chance but there are some girls in their 40s at my club (and look it) and they still make bank.

I look at it like this. Yes I am top of the food chain at my dive. I am an apex predator (recently got 34DDD/32E tits, faux blonde hair) I'm the hottest thing since sliced bread there. HOWEVER apex predators don't have a 100% success rate when it comes to kills. :/ But when we do nab a kill we usually nab a big one.
