    Default Sewing custom stripper costumes...

My agent for stripping hired me to do sewing.. it's been two years since I owned my sewing company but I was confident I could do my work - it's something one never forgets!!

Anyway, I quoted her $2500 for 8 corsets and 10 terri-cloth drawstring one-piece outfits for girls to wear after a show...

I'm not sure if that was too low or what... Each corset will be similar but she wants them each to be a little different plus they're made for each girl... and boned. So that's only $250 a corset.

How much should I really be charging for these? I ONLY sew high quality gear plus it's made specifically for the tortures showgirls put their clothing through.

She said she's willing to pay whatever.

Hell, she's buying a solarium for the girls for 6k.

    :/

Quote her a price however have a disclaimer that it depends on time and costume-ing constraints whether that quote is the final end price or not. Best to define what your time is worth per hour devoted to what you will be doing as well as the cost of materials.

You could always give my costumer (guy) a ring as he has been "in the biz" for what seems forever. He might be able to give you some tips. Give him a call (he is Gold Coast located).... just text me for his number.

That sounds about right in the US, but it sounds like costumes are more expensive in Australia?

$250 for a corset is about right. Gallery Serpentine in Enmore sell most of their fully boned corsets for around $200-$300 each or thereabouts. Costumes are different of course, but hey - it's worth whatever she's willing to pay!

I'd say you're doing well with that price, since it's a bulk order. Custom corsets go for a lot less than that around here: it's more like $200 CAD, after retail markup, for boned corsets, depending on material. I charged $150-175when I made them, and that was a bit high.

Assuming the terrycloth things are easy and won't take long to make, as it sounds like they're a 'bonus'?

I've shopped for custom corsets before, and prices usually head right up to 500-700$ a piece depending on fabric. Most of that is for time in sewing, i've sewn corsets before and materials cost me under 50$.

It really depends on how much you want to make off it, since they ARE a bit different, i'd think your quote was a bit low, but if its someone you know, its probably better.
