    Default whirlpoo bathtubs

Does anyone have one? if so, do you think it was worth it (if you put it in yourself)? how often is it that you use it?

im totally thinking of pimping out my bathroom. see this is the danger of online shpping when you are totally stir crazy from being sick and inside for days. no but really, i set out to buy new faucet/knobs for my shower since i broke the hot one, but... i really like the idea of a whirlpool bathtub. thoughts?

They're awesome for relaxing, there are other brands that can be cheaper/more expensive as well. The jets also lend a hand in masturbation/sex if you know what I mean .

I had my bathroom redone last year w/ a whirlpool tub installed. In theory, it sounds great. It is not so great if you don't like to clean or have your house cleaned as the jets get very dirty. It is extremely hard to clean the jets, I use a brush or q-tips, but they are still never clean enough. You can also run the jets periodically to loosen up the dirt. I used to love putting the tub on, but now, just take baths w/ epsom salts.

Also- I think unless you understand electrical work, it would be difficult to put in a tub by oneself. I gutted the whole bathroom myself, and hired some workers I found to install everything. I watched the tub and shower being done (some parts) and it seemed very complicated.

yea i wouldn't be putting it in alone, i have someone who is totally into it. actually was looking at this one:
    http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...959&lpage=none

but i *hate* cleaning. in fact, im pretty sure im gonna hire a housecleaner for 1x every three weeks so.. if i do that then theoretically ill never have to clean it but i would because im sorta ocd like that.
these are good replies.. keep em comin.

That's a nice one. Be on your housekeeper though to clean the jets. Some "forget" them.

What a coincidence Chrissy! I bought that same model except I got the one with the right drain. It just got finished putting in last night. It was a two day job because I had to have a plumber and an electrician. Its a cool tub , the 10 jets make it great. i wanted to get the one thats 36 wide but my bathroom space isnt that big. Plus with the slanted back rest it offers less leg space. Im 5'11 with long 35 inch legs. Oh well I still love the tub for the comfort and price. Have you bought yours yet ?

It works great , the bath jets are awsome. It just sucks that I cant strech my legs out completely in the tub because my tub area only accomadates the 5 ft. tubs. I saw this awsome whirlpool at Lowes before I bought mine. It was a bronze color and 6ft long , it was also about $3,000. Theres no way that I could fit that size of a tub in my bathroom though. You can also by a kit (extra moolah) that keeps the water temp. from getting cold while your bathing. Im gonna check that out this weekend. Let me know if you wanna know anything else about it. I was researching tubs for awhile before I bought this one.

I have one, and I love it. It is a saving grace. I've been know to go in it, after an awful day, with a bottle of wine, lots of good food, and my laptop or a book on a bath tray.

DO IT! you'll never regret it!

even if you don't use it much, it's great for when you resell it.

I use mine more frequently in the winter, but still...maybe once a month.

i measured the space, it appears i need a 5 ft one also and wont be able to stretch out completely unless im sitting upright. i think, as my bf pointed out, i should do other things in my house before this one. but the issue is that i need new shower system/faucet handles since i snapped one off and now it looks all ghetto. so im at a sort of impasse until i decide this one...
(gosh i only said impasse because i fell asleep watching Princess Bride.. "well then we are at an impasse, im not match for your strength and you are no match for my brains!" )

I would go for bigger, but for one I guess it is ok. More fun with two though! lol

I think I'd prefer an outdoor jacuzzi myself.

That is my husband's response as well. I think he has visions of playboy bunnies coming over to soak with him.

VG brought up a good point, make sure you have the hot water heater capacity to fill your new tub. My in-laws purchased one, and never used it because their hot water heater was too small to fill it.

I had an oceanfront condo for a while in Daytona that had a large 2 person whirlpool, and I loved it. It was very, very relaxing!

I might be frustrated in not being able to stretch out my legs in that model you gave the link to, though, but I am tall at 6'2".

I have a huge tub...but my shower, damn if I can effectively wash my hair while staying out of the water...the shower is so small. So, when we redo the bathroom, the tub is getting downsized and the shower is getting enlarged.
My tub and shower are separate. I shower. I've never been in the tub. It exists only as a plant stand. I did put a hot tub in the back yard last summer, though.

VG i have just the one bathroom and tub/shower. im putting in a half bath but that wont have a shower in it. i think that this is a great thing to have.. but i dont know that it's going to fit my idea of what i really want. and while i think my hot water heater can handle it (it's HUUUUGE) i dont like the idea of not being able to have someone in it with me AND not be able to stretch out.. i guess this was a good fantasy while it lasted

    Love it!
