I just got a call from my doctor's office telling me that Zelnorm has been pulled from the market. That really SUCKS. Those happy little white pills were the only thing that helped my IBS when it got ridiculously bad. They regulate the serotonin in the intestines, and when I'm not on Zelnorm I am sometimes constipated for over a week. That is the worst feeling ever. I am oh so sad.
Apparently the pill has been giving older women heart attacks. I have been told "not to worry" because it's not affecting younger patients so much, but also that I am S.O.L. for the only prescription I have ever found that helped my gut.
Imagine having a broken digestion system, when nothing at all makes it move and things just pile uncomfortably up, and then you find magical relief that switches it back on, and now that magical relief also happens to destroy your cardio functioning. Bugger that.
Fuck a duck, man. It's back to gallons of peppermint tea, hypnotherapy, and witchcraft. Oh, and triple helpings of ex-lax when I get desperate.
This was just a rant, and also a warning to anyone else who's taking Zelnorm? Corsicafire maybe?
