    So, hypothetically speaking..

A dancer was involved with um...the media and they were interested in say....ending up on Cable tv or something...would you be nervous that you'd eventually be outted and lose your job later on if you got that dream tv job?

I know I'm being sketchy....let's just say I've worked in various areas of the media and am just wondering about those types of politics...and if anyone's been there, done that or even been fired from another job because someone found out that they worked in this industry?>

I worked in radio and a little tv, but only overlapping with dancing for about a year or so. Yeah, it could bite you in the ass, depending on the company, what sort of demographics said media job caters to, etc....

So do you think the more public the more risky, and cable would be much better than say a public station? Cause I'm looking at a second higher education in this field and I'd hate to get in and then get outted, I'm getting outted in a twisted way and being condemed by a christian group right now....

Well hmm... when I was in school for radio, I was in a class with another stripper, and 2 SC DJs... none of them ever got major jobs in radio, but they were willing to go for it anyways, despite their jobs. I was as well. I never got outted.... most likely because a) I was in radio, so my face wasn't becoming familiar enough to be spotted out and about 8 out of 10 times, and b) those who WOULD see me in the club and know who I was... were not about to out me since they didn't want to be outed as BEING in a SC....

As I see it, If you're in a local establishment, you might be spotted more often, but that's in general... anywhere. Then again, those who DO spot you in the club probably don't care. As long as there are no photos or video clips of you being a stripper, well then, who can prove it, besides the folks who were patrons? Not too credible to bible thumpers and politicians. Working for a regional or nationwide station will get you spotted less frequently in your town, but the implications could be worse. If you get outted while working for a small station, local to your one town, less folks will gripe, really. If you're some big and famous, or work WITH a big and famous, for a really well known and reputable station, the flack will be bigger. The shit talking will last longer, and your chances of working at a smaller or different station afterwards will be lesser.

Really, though.... either way, you're taking a chance. It's possible to not get caught, if you are VERY low key. Remember, people tend to hunt for the video clips on youtube or the photos anywhere on the net. Now that it's "trendy" to be "scandalized" by risque stuff on the web, that's where everyone will be looking.

I work in film production and I haven't been outed, although I was once caught by a producer I've done some work for. It was hilarious in retrospect, but not at the time - I spun around the pole and landed on my side, legs spread, pussy right in his face, and then recognized him! Turned out that the woman he was there with wasn't his wife, so we agreed to keep each others' secrets. But this is Hollywood, not Christian television, and people are a little more understanding of people's peccadillos.

I don't know if you're in production or if you're an actor; as an actor, you'd be a little more likely to get caught and I'd say you should probably quit or travel to dance. If you work in production, though, evaluate the risk and act accordingly. And watch what you sign.
