    Default CHI or Sedu?

So, I've read through all the threads on flat irons, and I can't seem to find any specific comparisons between a Sedu and a CHI. I'd be buying the 2" CHI or 1.5" Sedu, I have almost waist length fine, thick, wavy, frizzy hair. My old Jilbere has served me well but it's just not cutting it any more, and I'm ready to spring for a new iron, I have it narrowed down to those two, but I wanted to know if there's anyone that has had both, or has any insight into which is better. Thanks!

I don't own a CHI flat iron but my salon uses it on me and it's fabulous. Last weekend (maybe now still) the CHI irons were on sale at ULTA for like $50 off. I was all excited and almost bought one, but then I realized that I don't really flatten my hair often enough to make it worth it.

    Never heard of the Sedu.

I was in Ulta the other day and there was no sale that I saw (then again I don't always pay attention when I should lol...) they're like, waaay more expensive than folica.com. I think even with $50 off they might still be more expensive. I was ready to buy one but when I looked at the prices I almost had a heart attack and walked back out of the store. I'm willing to have frizzy hair until it ships haha.

SEDU SEDU SEDU! I talked to a girl who worked for the Chi company, and they are notorious for returns and breaking down. I love my Sedu, but I wish I had held out for the latest model. Go to folica.com.

I have a CHI and love it. I makes my super curly hair (think all over ringlets) to slick straight hair in under 20, and my hair is mid back length.

Okay, I have fussy curly hair and here is my input.

I love love love my sedu. It is the only iron that got me stick straight WITHOUT having to blow dry. I found that amazing.

CHI did nothing for my hair. I kept waiting for it to straighten and it couldn't get it stick straight at all.

Also, Sedu is the only iron that gives me virtually no damage. Seriously, I noticed very little damage in 6 months of regular use...and my hair is fragile to begin with.

I used to have a Chi but it broke after 2 years. I honestly think my sedu works a lot better than my Chi did. My hair always feels so silky after I use it. I have really long hair, so I got the wider one which works better for me since I can get more hair at once.

I would recommend buying a CHI. I have had mine for over 3 years now. Its worth every penny that I spent on it.

Yeah, that's what I heard. Even my stylist said she didn't like the CHI because it feels cheap.

Did you purchase one yet, Vegas? I need a new flat iron too, but I'm kinda waiting to see what you get and how you like it. I'm thinking I may go with the Sedu.

Sedus have a year warranty. Be sure to sign up on their website after you purchase.

I've honestly never tried the Sedu, but I SWEAR by my CHI iron .. When my stylist told me a few years ago to get a CHI I was very unconvinced, because of it's size. Since I have very thick, curly hair, I figured I needed something the size of a clothing iron to get me straightened out. But CHI is amazing. And it seems like it didn't damage my hair as much as my much-larger, cheaper straighteners...
The only problem I ever had with a CHI was that (apparently) I stored it with the cord wrapped around it, and it broke. Like I guess that messed up the wiring in the cord. It lasted me for almost 2 years stored that way, but after it broke, I searched online for a cure for my baby, and saw that others had the same exact problem. So .. I dunno, like I said, never even touched Sedu ..

Tourmaline is superior to ceramic. It doesn't wear off or snag, and it's smoother. Get this Sedu. It's got an improved design that I wish I would have waited for.

I had a Chi and LOVED it. BUT, about a year later, for no reason at all, it just stopped working. Wouldn't turn on. I was pissed. I payed $115 for mine. I now have a cheap $40 one that works the same.

Hmmm... with all the breaking and problems I'm hearing about the CHI, I think I'll get the Sedu. Plus it has a warranty? That's awesome.

LatinaRose, I'm gonna order one this week and I'll post when I get it... hope I can give you some insight

Oh, another thing.... does anyone have any idea about plate widths? I always thought I needed wider plates for my hair but I also think a 1" would be fun since you can do those little flips and curls with it. Would it be less effective on straightening?

1" is fine. I actually wish I had gone with an inch so I could tame those little baby hairs along my hairline, or make waves or curls. You can always straighten more slowly, or go over it again. I have long hair as well, and 1" was just fine. It's the heat settings that really determine the straightness. I have the 1 1/2" Sedu, and like I said, I wish I had done 1" and waited for the latest model.
