Default R.I.P. Embyr (sorry, another pet post...)

Well, the original Embyr (my Pembroke Welsh Corgi) was put down yesterday. She was old (13 1/2) and had lived a healthy, happy life right up til the end, when her liver started to fail. I cried all Sunday and much of Monday... today (still tuesday for me until I go to sleep) I've just been antagonistic and cynical, and I feel like some of that has translated into my posts- certainly not excusing them, but I felt I ought to mention this and apologize if I have been, well, a bitch.

I miss her; most of all I'm sad and angry I wasn't able to say my proper goodbye's... I was originally intending to fly back to NY (where my family is) if her health started to go downhill, but it all happened so quickly that I couldn't get back in time. Now it's weird to have "Embyr" as my stage name/handle... I suppose it's carrying on a namesake, but right now it's just rather sad. She was a 10th birthday present; I grew up with that dog. I have read many of the pet posts, esp. the animals passing on posts, and they actually helped me prepare for this... but it still really hurts. Here she is:

I'm very sorry for your loss. How strange and sad that my friend just called me to say his dog died while he was on vacation!
This must be a bad time for doggies.
But...please don't have any regrets. You spent so much time and energy making her feel loved throughout her whole life. That is more than a lot of animals get in this world.

Please take care and feel free to vent about it if you need to. Stripperweb is always here.

    I am so sorry, Embyr.

I still miss my kitty Guinevere something awful, and it's been years.

As far as using the name, I think you should. It still really fucking grabs me to play Incubus "I Wish you Were Here", as I did the night after my best friend was shot. It's supposed to be a love song, but I put my own meaning on it--we all missed him that night, and I still do. So I play the song, and it feels right even if it hurts--in a good way.

I have been catching up on SW since I got off work, so maybe I missed something, but I didn't see you being nasty anywhere.

She looks sweet, I am glad she was happy and was lucky enough to have you as an owner and friend.

    Oh Im so sorry sweetie.
Embyr had a nice long life - 13 years is a grand old age for a dog. Im sure she knew how loved she was too. Still it doesn't make it any easier.

When Zaine passed away 3 months ago Goldcoastgirl suggested a great website www.petloss.com
I wrote a tribute on it to Zaine and it helped me express my grief.

Someone - the rainbow bridge poem? its a beautiful poem. Ill see if I can find it in a post.

    Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I am so, so sorry to here about your dog. I know how bad it hurt's to lose a pet, they're like family so my heart really goes out to you. There are some really good books on pet loss that you should check out when you're feeling up to it. When one of my rabbits died it helped me grieve. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss
