    Default Evil in-laws and revenge........muahahahaha

......so yesterday afternoon I was in a mood. It was cold outside, I was just in a generally pissed off mood and it didn't help when myt husband got home and got on the phone and started arguing with his ex-wife.

I went in the bathroom and was sitting there opening the mail when I see this handwritten envelope that's sticking out. I open it to find a card from his grandparents that says "Hallelujah!" on the front of it and some over-the-top religious bullshit on the inside. Then it says a donation has been made in OUR NAME to Trinity Missionary. Happy Easter, it said. This is the second such card we've gotten in two months, the other one was a huge bday card to me that had about 50 religious psalms on it. They are fucking crazy.

I was livid. First off, I'll tell you that his family is UBER-Catholic and like to rub it in anyone's face that they can. My husband has made it clear that we don't believe in their lunatic Catholic bullshit. And that while we do respect their beliefs (well, I don't, but they don't have to know that) we do not want to hear about it.

So, I sat there and thought.......what could I do to send the message that we don't want our name put on any lists, and we don't want religious bullshit sent to us EVER AGAIN?

I went and googled "Pro-choice charity" and this came up: http://www.charitynavigator.org/inde...orgid/4151.htm

Perfect. I entered in a donation of $20 and it asked me how I'd like that money spent. Well, that was an easy one. I wrote "To help women enter abortion clinics without being accosted by the religious right." Click. And then it let me check a box and write in the names of the people I'd like to have this donation credited to. Click and write. And then it let me send an e-card to THANK them for their generous donation and to let them know that someone made a donation on their behalf.

I added to it: "Happy Springtime! Your card inspired me to give back in the same way that you gave to us. Isn't it wonderful when we can help others? love, Adrienne and Ben" Click.

It's just his grandparents who he never sees anyway. I probably wouldn't do that to his mom and dad, although if they put me on a fucking Catholic list I just might.

They are just trying to save thier blood. This is what they believe in. It is like the same way you feel about what you believe in. They just have not understood that you should not force thier beliefs on people. Why cant you ignore them? It was just a card. Yet what you did, will make them think you are more evil. You might even cause tension, with other family members. I can only image the gossip. They brain may not be able to comprehen that thier more to this world.

The difference is that I don't force my beliefs on them. I wouldn't ever do that. We asked to be left alone, and they decide to DONATE IN OUR NAME. That's the part that riled me up. I can throw away a card, but now some fanatical Catholic organization has my fucking name. I will not ignore that.

Non-religious people are sick and tired of being beaten over the head with religion. It already controls our entire country, I'll be damned if I'll have it in my house.

I kind of agree with this. While what you did is kind of funny and I can see the appeal in it, a slightly more mature approach would have been best. Sometimes taking the high road is better.

Think of it this way...his grandparents are very religious. To them, right now, their grandson is going to hell...that is VERY serious to them. Imagine if you thought YOUR child was doing something that was very bad for them. You'd want to try to help, right? That's their mindset. So maybe a little more sympathy and a little less bile might be a nice thing, you know?

    Just a thought.

They disowned him when he didn't get married in the Catholic church (his first marriage) and they disowned his gay brother. They are the ones with bile, not us. They don't love their family they are very bitter and mean.

And fuck them. We don't believe in heaven and hell. They can cry a river for my husband if they want to, but if they put my name on any more lists they can expect more of the same.

Well If they disown him and his gay brother that is not right. So you are saying they put your name on the list just to be mean. Not to make amends with you guys. If so I have nothing more to say about that! I guest they got what they put in!

Evil in-laws? Are you talking about yourself? I think it was a bit much for you to do that.

Bwahahahahaha, I think this is hilarious. I had a few relatives like this myself, they kept sending the missionaries to me to 'bring me back' to the church. I started telling them about my great job as a stripper

I was actually referring to both of your actions. Neither needed to be done.

It is funny. But at the same time I wonder why you couldn't just take the higher road.

Good for you! Why should you be worried about offending them, when they obviously weren't concerned about offending you? Besides, given the way you have described them, I really doubt their original actions were done as a loving gesture---more as a passive-aggressive mind-fuck if you ask me. Just because people get old, doesn't mean they get nicer, grandparents or not!

I don't know how you all are managing to do this in the US---trying to live a normal life while having to trip over a growing body of empowered religious freaks/thought police. Good for you, Andygirl, for taking a stand.

HAHAaahah! Andy you've got balls! My bf's family is like that, but at least they don't have the nerve to send donations on our behalf. For that your actions are called for. Tit for tat. You are lucky that your man supports you in standing up for yourself. I'm forced to bite my tongue to avoid 'hurt feelings' and that really gets old.

I do know the situation though. My fiancee's grandparents would and have disowned anyone in the family that has lived together or even stayed in the same hotel room before they got married.

Considering my fiancee and I have been living together for over a year, the entire family is having quite the time tiptoeing around them to not let them know.
