Default Does the black light make you glow?

This just occured to me, and it's porbably a dumb question but here it is... I have very fair skin also I'm covered in freckles which is ok until I'm under black light and then my pale skin glows and my freckls dont and I look really really weird/yuck, if I could take a picture I would. The one club I'm looking to work at doesn't have a black light, it just has those red lights, but the other two (which I haven't had a chance to check out) might. Has any one else had this problem? Can it be fixed with makeup or something?

I'm really fair skinned with freckles too.. I don't have a problem with it, but then again I've never really looked. I'll pay more attention next time I work and let ya know

Black light always made me look more tan. Even when I stopped tanning for awhile and was so pale i was practically transparent. Esp when coupled with clothes that glow(anything white or neon colored).

God I love black light...it is so forgiving!

It will not make your skin glow -- it will make it look darker. It'll make your teeth and the whites of your eyes glow, though.

It does make my skin glow, sort of a light yellowy pink and yeah my eyes and teeth glow too but my skin glows. I dragged some of my friends into the bathroom to see it. Their skin didnt glow but I thought it was just because they have darker skin than I do. Now I'm starting to think I'm the only one...

I've always been the Token Pale Girl in the local clubs, and I've never glowed... only my teeth and nails... the only time I've had glowing skin was when I washed clothing with bleach... my palms glowed for a day!

Yeah - the bathroom has a black light... I'm not sure why, it wasn't my house. maybe I have radioactive skin haha no but really now I'm getting a little concerned with the fact that no one else has seen glowing skin... Maybe I'm just a lot paler than most pale people ... once when I was in high school this girl told me that if the sun was a black light I'd blind people. I told her that I can change being pale but she'd always be ugly and walked away. (I wouldnt generally say anything this but this girl was an uber bitch - slept with all of my ex boyfriends)

If it really bothers you, using some self-tanner should help. Even one of those gradual lotion-type ones should give you enough color to stop glowing. Unless, of course, you really are radioactive, in which case, I suggest you just get outfits that complement it and revel in your uniqueness.

Do you use Jergen's gradual lotion tanner? Cuz it makes your skin glow. Mine had ugly patches from it.

I dont really use lotion. When I do it's for a specific area (hands, elbows, feet, etc.) and I tend to use this medicated stuff I have, or I use the cheapo suave cocoa butter stuff when my legs feel kinda dry.

I've never used any gradual tanning products, any suggestions? i can't really go tanning because I just burn. If I go to a tanning salon (I did this a few times with my friend for prom because she didnt want to go alone, so she paid for me to go with her) I have to put on like spf 50 on my tattoo, also i just dont like the idea of laying in those beds... Anyway... taning creames?

Be careful with the Jergens stuff. I know a lot of people on here that are really pale that use it. I can put that stuff on once a week and I'm way tanner than I'd like to be for the first day or two until it scrubs off a bit (I use the lightest color it comes in). It doesn't smell tooo funky either.

Ive never worked with dancers who have glowed, but weve had the occasional extremely pale customer from far north Scotland or somewhere that has been so white that they glow - its feaky!

you are not the only one! i totaly glow (i'm irish/scottish) esp. where big patches of freckles are. i glow worse in clubs where the blacklight is super close to the stage. the club i'm at now isn't bad because the blacklights are fairly high up. i hardly glow at all.

customers usualy don't give a damn. if they notice it at all they usualy just think it's cute/funny. you'll notice it more than they will. from further away it doesn't glow as much as you think. when you're looking down at your own skin you can tell a lot more.

It's esp freaky when it's you looking back at yourself and look like an alien...

I glow, too. I HATE it. And you know how they do those TV specials or magazine articles where they show women's faces under blacklight to show sun damage? Yeah, that happens, too. I will never, as long as I live, know why clubs use predominantly black light. Luckily I work in a club that is more on the red side--MUCH more flattering.

yeah I love the way I look in red light... I have this really tacky light in my room that happens to be red and the first time I had it on w/o other lights on I felt like I was in a strip club. my b/f loves having it on when we have sex, and so do I... I dont know why, and silly as it sounds I feel sexier with it on, haha.

Yep, I glow, but I have a friend who is paler than me, and she doesn't. I'm starting to wonder if it doesn't have something more to do with skin undertones than just the paleness? I don't glow if I use the sunless tanners, even if it is really light.

Some black lights emit traces of UV (Ultra Violet) light.

This is light of a wavelength outside what our eyes can see, so it's invisible to us.

This UV light is absorbed by our skin/clothing/teeth or whatever and re-emitted in the visible spectrum - i.e. at a wavelength we can see.

This is why some parts of us look brighter - they are reflecting the normal background light in the club and also re-emitting the absorbed UV light.

Some clothing in particular is good at absorbing and re-emitting UV light - that's why it really stands out in a club.

I just bought this lotion at wal-mart, it's a square-ish brown pump bottle that says hemp on it, and it's a gradual tanner and has skin firming stuff in it. I've only used it once so far, but it works really well. I think it was $6 and it didn't smell bad!

I'm the dancer from north Scotland who's so white she glows! It kinda sucks, but not enough for me to want to tan.

also, don't ever feel like you -have- to tan if you don't want to. i will never ever tan. #1 i can't unless i -realllly- work on it and #2 i just look stupid with one. i get a lot of compliments on my skin. also, i look younger than i am and i am truly think that my lack of direct sun exposure is one of the largest factors. i'm not dissing the tan people. i just think people look best when they keep their skin color fairly close to what is natural for them. some girl can tan beautifully with minimal damage to their skin because of their genes, and some "white girls" can go a shade or so darker and look fine. i just think a natural redhead (i dye it brighter..but it is red) with a tan looks ridiculous... as does a very naturaly pale blonde who decides to get a dark tan.

I do glow too! I don't full on glow like a white t-shirt does but I emit an eerie glow that no one else seems to have.

I look really stupid with a tan but I use the Jergens on my legs to even out some of the blotchiness and hide my veins. My skin is basically transparent. I feel like that Bodies exhibit thats touring around right now sometimes. Swedish/German genes FTL there!
