    Default herbology?

I have always had a real interest in growing my own herb garden, and learning about the uses of different herbs. Lately, I've been thinking of learning herbology, and possibly making a business of that when I am done dancing.
Does anyone know anything about it, or how one becomes a herbologist?

Do a search on the site naturalhealers.com, they have a directory for herbal studies and holistic health schools.

My best friend is studying something like that. She lives in Portland Oregon and right now is on some kind of trip with her mentor/teacher and a few other students. They are starting from New Mexico and working there way back up to Oregon studying the plant life and their uses. So I can't really get a hold of her to ask questions. Just know that she is really into it and enjoys it.

I've been involved with herbal applications for years ... both with the 'spiritual' applications (a.k.a. green witchcraft) as well as actually growing them and preparing them. I typically plant tons of herbs in my garden every year along with the vegetables.

In fact I'm trying something new this year since spring is taking forever to get here ... herb hydroponics. I just bought a couple of these units and have high hopes ...

I'm studying ethnobotany, which is kind of the theoretical and historical side of herbalism...unfortunately, the herbalism field is unregulated in N.America, so you'd never be very 'legit'. You can study Naturopathy, but herbalism is only a teeny tiny part of the curriculum.

The Pacific Northwest has a few (seemingly) legit academic programs that focus on herbs...Bastyr in Seattle comes to mind. I'm sure there are analagous schools elsewhere.
