Oh, it's from China. That explains it. They have the worst English translations in the world. Seriously, while I was in Beijing, I was reading the instructions on a bottle of hair dye. In Chinese, it said, "Do not use if pregnant." It was translated into, "Do not harm fuck the Empress." I also saw "Deformed man parking" instead of "Handicapped parking." That's only the tip of the iceberg. I saw many, many bad translations.

In fact, due to the upcoming Olympics, Beijing is having a crackdown on bad English translations in order to save face.

I've seen a lot of those on Jay Leno. He'll show a bunch of funny translations. But "Do not harm fuck the Empress"?!!!! HAHAHAHAHA

But the racial slur is pretty out there. It almost seems like something Dave Chappelle would have on one of his sketches. Unfortunately, it's in real life!

I hope she is able to get a full refund on that sofa. I'm white, and even I wouldn't want an item with that title. I hate that word.

I believe that nigger- brown is actually a colour. I'm doing some research on it and I'm finding it used quite often. Here's one example so far:The school is a grammar school and prepares pupils for the Oxford University General Certificate of Education at Ordinary, Advanced and Scholarship levels.School Uniform.

    Girls

    Winter

    1. Nigger brown coat and/or nigger brown gaberdine mackintosh.
    2. Nigger brown velour felt hat with school hat band and badge OR nigger brown beret.
    3. Fawn or white socks.
    4. Brown shoes with low heels.
    5. Nigger brown tunic - pinafore slip, similar to Butterick pattern 9011. A standard tunic is provided by the outfitters.
    6. Blouse of tussore coloured material, with collar and long sleeves.
    7. Brown leather belt with purse attached, OR shoulder purse.
    8. School blazer and/or nigger brown cardigan.
    9. School tie.

here's what I found out about the colour:
Used in combinations (e.g. nigger-brown) since 1840s for various dark brown or black hues or objects

So basically it's the Chinese companies using very archaic translations. Wow, that's worse than using British English, hehe.

    I also just found this:
In the UK until relatively recently the term "nigger brown" was used for a particular colour and one of Agatha Christie's most popular stories was named after the nursery rhyme "Ten Little Nigger Boys". The change in acceptability of the term meant, that when the book was made into a play, it was re-titled "Ten Little Indians".

Moore, who has a younger son and daughter, said she's heard the word used many times, although it has never been directed in anger at her....quote
I fail to see where it was used in anger, directed at her in this instance????

I work with alot of black girls who are forever using this word. It pisses me off. It's an outdated irrelevant word, and anyone using it, only keeps the hate alive. It is stupid...except in this instance, where I think it is just a harmless miscommunicated translation. If I were that woman, i'd keep it. I'd be laughing my ass off

^^^It made me laugh too, I guessed it probably was a case of Engrish. Still it needs to be changed. As much as I am ok with the use of he N-word these days, alot of people arent and there was a time when I wasnt too so i remember how it feels.

Edited to add: ^^ That was a reply to Misha.

Above: No Negro is Spanish for black

According to Wiipedia Niger is latin for black. I must say I dont recall having heard that before which surprises me if its correct.

Edited again, I just googled "nigger toe" and it seems to be a brazil nut.

My grandmother called Brazil nuts "nigger-toes". It always made me cringe a bit.

Nigger was use to describe a color of certain things. It just whites tooks it back in the day and made the word demeanor African Americans or shall I save slaves at the time. That had color to them! Sinve whites have been using that word for a long time. In such a bad way many african Americans. Feel straight out offended by the word. ALthought it's meaning is not ment for racial slurr. Yet It has been use for so many years as a bad racial slurr. It just get lots of people all hot and bother.
