    Default Breakfast

I'm having a premade seven layer salad for breakfast. Never had it before, not sure what it is, but it seems to be lettuce, peas, cheese, bacon bits, egg, and onion with a buttermilk dressing. What are you having?

Popeye's, my usual morning ritual. I believe it's called "Eggy Toast" over in England. It's the surefire way to turn a one-night stand into a boyfriend, if you're ever inclined to do so. I've recommended them to all my girlfriends, and 2 of them are now married and told me that Popeye's are the reason why. If you want the recipe, let me know.

    Yogurt.

I don't like yogurt. Yuck. But it's either that or cottage cheese.

I'm a bachelor for the time being, and I really don't feel like cooking or doing dishes. I think I'm gonna hop in the shower and go out for pancakes, or maybe an omelette. I would critically injure a small child for some Waffle House scattered smothered and covered right now, but there are none around here.
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.

What is this 'breakfast'? Does it involve sunlight?

Hahaa! No breakfast before you turn in after a night of work? I love breakfast before bed---I used to work at an after-hours bar in Vancouver, and never got to bed before 5 am--but going to the Vinyard cafe for eggs bennie before turning in always hit the spot!

Today, I had a breakfast shake with banana, whey isolate protein powder, and chocolate flavored almond milk, plus my vitamins and Tonalin.

    Oh, that "breakfast".

Yes, the 'before hiding from nasty sunlight' meal, I am quite fond of it.
Omelets are great! Pancakes are good too, but I try to avoid the syrup even though I like it, as I am sensitive to sugar, I think. But who can eat pancakes without syrup? Not me...

As far as the 'meal eaten when waking up after the sun goes down', I like yogurt and some fruit, usually. Sometimes oatmeal is good, too. But usually I'm not all that hungry after rising.

Snicker. Can I use that line - I'll totally give you credit.

This thread totally made me hungry for good breakfast food. I recommend scrambled eggs and chorizo with grated cheese in a tortilla. Super tasty. One of the only long-term good things I got out of my relationship with my horrid ex. Maybe worth it, too - such a good breakfast. There's even vegetarian chorizo out there for the health conscious.

we went to Noodle Chu on Rt. 46 in parsippany. it's part of three restaurants owned by that family. imo, that particular one is the best of the three.

there's another one (also on 46) just down the road (i forget the name but there's a panda out front ) in fairfield. it's better for soy milk/fried cruller (taiwanese-style breakfast for the non-chinese ). i like that breakfast style more, simpler and more like my childhood tastes when i lived with my mom in taiwan for a while (i was born here though).

nyc has the better spots obviously but too much of a haul. manhattan's is down to 2~3 spots in the tourist trap they call "chinatown". queens has the larger selection, of course (and more authentic taste imo).

i would think edison should have some spots nowadays though, given its burgeoning chinese population. there were a couple of other spots but they all closed due to the "buffet" competition that has become popular in recent years (or the owners just cashed in).

    Dim sum = THE BEST.

There's an awesome straight-Hong-Kong-authentic dim sum place a few miles from my house... too bad it's so expensive

This "morning"...okay crack of noon.......I made homemade pancakes from scratch with homemade scratch blueberry sauce for T and his friends. They're down for the weekend so it was nice to have a bunch to cook for. They loved 'em.

I almost always have a two egg omelette with tomatoes, portobello and some kind of gourmet cheese which is what I had this morning. If I'm not too hungry it's fruit and tea.

I shudder at the packaged sugary stale breakfasts most people consume...
