    The Lusty Lady, Seattle

Ok, so i went down there today to see if they were hiring girls and they were. So I filled out an application, got an information packet, and am now waiting for the show director to call me for an audition. So, I took the first step and i'm pretty proud of myself! Now to stuff myself full of dexatrim to get rid of the last bit of chubbles. lol. Just wanted to share, that's all. If anybody wants any seattle LL info, I've got it.

    Hey, Mandy!

I'm sorry I've been away from SW for a long time.... can't really say why.... sigh...

Anyway, yeah, I live in Seattle. I don't dance here, but am involved in other aspects of the modeling & adult biz... the Lusty Lady's prolly the best of the clubs in Seattle, but the dance scene here still sucks compared with other places around the country. Best of luck, and tell me how it turns out!

argh, entry level office work pays more than the lusty lady in seattle does, fyi. so does waiting tables, and seattle customers are among the least demanding and highest tipping restaurant customers i've ever seen.

I worked there 1-2 shifts a week for over 3 months. Girls were cool, but the money was NOT. At the same time I was working at the Vu. Well I started at the LL b/c I was afraid or raids at the clubs. But after a month I sucked it up and worked weekends at the Vu with one midweek shift after my internship downtown. I was already downtown, and it gave me some midweek structure. But it turned out to be a total pain in the ass. Yeah, don't tell Deberah that you know Sapphire...

I worked there for years, although never as my only job. I loved that place. It's true that you won't make the same kind of money you do stripping, but the ladies are awesome, and it's a fun place to work. It's kind of nice to just go dance and not have to worry about hustling at all. I miss the place often, not for the money, but for the people. Mandy, I wish you good luck on your audition and interview. Try to have a well put together look, be polite and professional, BE ON TIME, and you'll likely be fine. Say hi to Debra for me! I was Minette there, too. Oh, and Debra can come across as sort of a hard-ass, and she kind of is, but she's pretty fair, and not as scary as she can seem as first, so don't let it throw you.

Hey Sapphire - when did you work there? I was there from 02 to 05, I think? There was a Sapphire there for a little while when I was there. Slender, short hair, I think. She left a rather sweet note on the board after she left. Was it you?

No, I was there this past fall ('06). I did hear about the other Sapphire, though. I liked the girls too. I had a lot more fun when I started wearing flats!! The first time i danced in striper shoes for 4 hour my back hurt so bad!! I worked at night, no one was in the office so i wore flats, many girls did. I did very well in the talk booth, but in the end it just did not compare with dancing across the street at the Vu. I kept my wed. evening shift tho, i am not sure why. Glad you liked it there. It is a mini culture for sure!

i guess i never understood getting naked for no money, especially when better paying and low-stress work of nearly any other kind is available.

^^^ ayup. But that's been an argument here before, with some of us saying that dancing for $100/shift is bogus and others saying all that matters is your happiness . . . and if the LL really is the highest-paying PT work you can find, well, go to it. $16/hr is rough for naked, though.

It is less than 16/hr. I would work 3 hours at that rate and then finish up my shift with one hour in private pleasures talk booth. In the booth my avarage was about 65. I rationalized it for about 3 months. On a wed. I could very well go to the Vu and owe money. At the Vu they are not fans of letting you leave early and i had to be up at 6:30 for work. Even when I told some of the girls at the Vu that I was doing it and making 90-100bucks every wed. it was agreed that is was not a bad deal. With all that said I still think it was a horrible idea. I can still picture the guys jacking off and taking off there clothes. They really want you to make eye contact there, after a while I had a hard time with that. I never have a hard time with eye contact at the club. My lap dances always seem so personal, but the are so routine, and sometimes I am just in another place. Watched all the druggie LL addicts jerk off and cum, shoot up, smoke crack in the booths, I think it affected me in a bad way. I did like the girls, but I kinda wish I could have my wed. evenings back.

There's no question that the LL isn't the best-payed naked work out. I know I could have found better paying part-time work, but it wouldn't have been as fun. I really love dancing though, and the nudity part has never been an issue for me. Besides, while you couldn't pay me to wander around in the real world all girled out on a regular basis, it's kind of fun to me to get paid to play with make-up and wear six-inch heels. I worked there even when I didn't need extra money, just 'cause I loved dancing and hanging out with the fabulous ladies there. Most of the women who worked there certainly could have gotten other jobs, and many had them, but worked there because they liked it. I think that was part of the great atmosphere of the place - everyone was having fun. On the other hand, I'm not going to say that I wasn't bummed when they had to give us pay cuts to stay afloat, and it would have been nice to work there when they had lots of business and hadn't had any pay cuts at all, and you could make oodles of money in the one-on-one booth (still behind glass). Shasta, were there really guys doing drugs in the booth when you were there? That wouldn't have been stood for a couple of years ago.

Hmmm interesting, I read a book called Bare and the author worked there and talked a lot about the place. It was in the 90's, but from the way you guys describe it that sounds about right. I read it before I became a stripper, but glad I never worked in a place like that--naked is naked and it comes with a hefty fucking price! Good luck--

Yeah, that's kinda how I'm looking at it. I know I could be making more money somewhere else but the more research I did on this place the more I wanted to work there! lol. The starting rate is $13 which would honestly be the highest hourly rate I've ever gotten. And I don't mind. I just wanted to start out somewhere fun, be part of the Seattle culture icon known as the LL, gain a bit of self confidence, all that fun stuff. *looks away and mumbles* Learn not to fall in my heels . . .

And since it's only part time employment, I want to audition at the Lake Forest Park Deja Vu as soon as I get my car back. The Lusty Lady is in like getting my feet wet for me, Deja Vu is actually attempting to swim. That's sorta my big short term goal, getting hired over there. Besides, it's the Lusty Lady! When people hear that someone dances there, they're like "That's so cool!" lol. The LL is quite endearing to most Seattlelites.

Minette, Sapphire, was I the only one who found the application a bit uncommon? lol. I got the feeling they were looking for creative answers but I wasn't sure. I'm just so use to answering applications with the utmost proffesionalism and making sure to use "power" words. Thanks for your advice too! I really appreciate it! I will let them know you said hi.

um, you can start at 12-15/hr pt or ft doing office work as a temp or perm employee. a bit more in the downtown area where the lusty lady is located. you don't even need a degree. also, again, waitstaff in this town often average 20/hr or more, usually pt hours. this town has jobs falling from the trees at pretty decent wages. it's a pleasant surprise to be able to set one's terms at any pay level because workers are needed so badly.

seattle's not really the best place to be a strippar. i mean, if i really really really wanted to dance naked for money again, i'd go to portland occasional weekends and not bother with a peepshow or the clubs in seattle that ask up to half your money each shift. i understand you really want to dance naked, but the seattle clubs suck, and, well, i wouldn't be in a rush to earn very little per hour OR give 1/3 MINIMUM to the club each night i worked.

the greater seattle area is very cool in some ways, but it is just so totally NOT the place to start out dancing if there are any other options (which there are).

As far as the app goes, I think the most important thing is put across you that have a positive attititude about the sex industry, the customers, etc. I sort of think the application is just a way to weed out women who aren't really serious about the whole thing. You know, some girl gets a wild hair up her ass, thinks to herself, "Oh, I want to just try it once and see what it's like, hee hee, won't I be transgressive.", and then gets handed this long application and never does it. And go for the professionalism anyway - they're all about knowing that you will have a professional attitude towards working there. At the same time, for "What's your favorite part of you body?" question, I put, "My brain.", 'cause, well, I'm pretty fond of it, and I'm also a smartass, and not only did I get hired, but no negative comments were made about that answer. Oh, and don't let the hiring guidelines in the info packet worry you too much. Most women have at least a little cellulite, strectch marks, etc, and the LL is no exception. That packet makes them sound much harsher than they actually are, plus the stage lights are flattering.

And good luck - let us know how it goes.

I'd totally agree that Seattle is a shitty place to dance. Hopefully it'll be better there now that the four-foot law got overturned, but the real strip club options are still pretty shitty. I worked for the 'peep show' at the downtown Vu for a litte while, 'cause I wasn't willing to risk the, at the time, rampant vice cops in the club. It pretty much aligned with what I've heard other people say about Vu management. And, well, I never danced there so I can't really speak to it, but the Rick, Sugars, Honeys club all had a wide-spread unsavory rep. I think some girls who have danced there on here have said it's true, too. The Lusty is a fun place to dip your toes into the sex industry though, and personally, I'd rather get nekkid than be wait staff any day; I don't have the patience for that kind of customer service. I agree with Miabella, going down to Portland every once in a while might be a better option than the local clubs once you've settled into dancing, as a way to supplement admittedly meager LL earnings.

MW, I know you pmed me about the Vu. I gave you some info, but now that i see you are talking about lake city that info is not correct. But the advice is the same, just go to the club to find out about licensing. That club is owned by talents west I believe, so i think you have to interview with them.

    Re: The Lusty Lady, Seattle

Yeah. Seattle does suck to strip in, no doubt about that. I will go to Portland eventually and other cities but for right now I'm pretty happy rocking my g-string and stilletos here. lol. Portland will be fun tho. I've got some friends down there so I visit every so often.

I should be getting a call tomorrow or Tuesday, so I will let you guys know when I have an interview set up.

Minette, what is the setup like? Like, I know it's a peepshow (lol, duh.) but do you get your own dancing booth or is it more open? Poles? Actual undressing involved or are you just naked the whole time? I was going to partake in a show yesterday when I was there but not only did I wonder if it would be frowned upon but I realized I only had enough money for the bus.

MiaBella, were you a dancer here in Seattle? If so, what clubs were you at? I know most have pretty crappy reviews/reps and have no hesistation to commiserate with WA dancers, lol. Just curious tho. I'm trying to avoid Sugars & Honey's, Downtown Vu if possible. Shooting for Lake Forest Park Vu.

Shasta, thanks! I'm just going to head down there soon and ask about the licensing and hiring and everything. Hopefully all goes well! You're an awesome source of help and info!

i haven't danced in seattle. in fact, one of the reasons i moved up to seattle was because the stripping environment is so bad there is no way i would ever bother dancing here. what girls average dancing in seattle is what entry level temps make. and it may not be 'fun', but it is damnsure less stressful than high contact, high house fees and sometimes owing the club money at the end of the night.

i understand the appeal of running around naked and having guys tell you how hot you are and making guys get all revved up on account of what you're doing, but even when i was doing it, that validation was not very meaningful unless i was making money. maybe you have a financial safety net and can afford to be naked for free/little money, but girls who can do this often have a hard time understanding those of us who get/got naked because there's money involved, with the fun part being very secondary.

Aha! Gotcha, Mia. Well, I honestly can't say that stripping is my only option. I definitley have choices here. But I really don't want to work in restaurants anymore, and I'm not interested in office work. I think that women end up in two sorta seperate categories when it comes to why they started dancing, so you're right.

I'm sure you're picturing me as some young, dumb thing looking to start taking my clothes off for a couple bucks, gobs of attention, and a good time with no real sense of what I'm actually getting myself into. I like to think it's not so but, hey, maybe I really am just that. LOL *shrugs* I hope not . . . I like to believe I'm smart, secure, strong, and quite aware that this a means to an end. Going to school and working full time to make my bills has been so hard, I've had to put school on hold while I catch up. And you are totally right, the money and clubs, the whole scene sucks here. I plan to move on. If the money isn't enough here (which it probably isn't), I can go someplace else or decide that it's more worth my time to get a job outside of dancing. At least I tried, and I'll be very proud of myself that I did. I really appreciate your advice tho! Just like the rest of the wonderful ladies here on SW, you really have a girl's best interest at heart! Thanks for looking out for me. It is not taken for granted, trust me.

Nah, wish it was me though. Oh wait, that's my Czech pornstar alter-ego, lol! I'm getting some professional pics done soon-and when I get 'em, I'll put them up. For now, I just have to put cheesy, self-taken digital camera pics in the Pic section...

Alright, I had a mini-interview today with the manager, Debra today. She just showed me around, told me how everything works, she showed me what the girls do, the show, just a really big overview of the whole place. It was pretty cool. So now I have an audition set up!! Yay! This Friday at 2:30. I'm nervous but I really just wanna get the scariest part over with. Wish me luck!!

Oh, Minette, I told Debra you said hi and she wanted me to tell you hi and that she loves and misses you!

Well hello! I am that other Sapphire you guys were talking about my hair is long now, but back then I had short henna-red hair. The girl with the Shiva tattoo on her back.
I miss the LL soooo much. It wasn't the greatest money, but ever since I was a teen I wanted to "get payed to dance" since dancing is what I love. It's a cool place if you aren't trying to get rich. I bet you will have fun there if you get hired. Good luck, and you can pm me with any questions
    peace out
