    Default Your first stage dance

Just wondering about other people's experiences. Did you memorize some choreography to a song and come all prepared for your first show, or were you confident enough to just wing it?

I'm starting Monday and so nervous about getting scared and standing frozen, or falling on my face, or any of a number of things that could possibly go horribly wrong; even though I know it will most likely be fine once I've done it for a while. Thank you to everyone on this board who has replied to my many questions, I do feel alot more prepared than I did a couple weeks ago when I first began considering doing this.

You are thinking about it too much!! You will be fine. If you try to memorize choreography, you will come off more stiff and unnatural, IMO.

Yeah, like LR said you'll be stiff if you memorize something. I'm sure I'll get hated on for this, but if you drink I'd recommend having a drink before you first go on stage. It helps to take the edge off. Don't get drunk though! Drunk=disaster. Just go with the flow and try your best to dance as slow as possible. Good luck! Let us know how it goes

My first night was last monday, and believe me I was so freaked to get up on stage. It will come to you as you go, just move really reeeeaaally slow...and it also doesnt hurt to watch the other girls as they go up and kind of incorporate some of their moves into your sets, BUT add your own twists to it, cause it's asking for trouble if you outright steal moves. I have gotten a bit more stage confidence over the course of the week, but I still have alot to work on. Best of luck to u!!

Exactly what they said, relax and remember to slow it down, think sensual. I remember my first time on stage, after I came off one girl grabbed me. She said 'you used to be a cheerleader I assume?' I replied that I had, and she laughed, saying 'yeah I could tell..your too stiff and too fast.' Dont worry about pole tricks, their good to have in case you feel like it one night, but you dont need them. Dont be afraid to be the one who sways her hips and doesnt do much else. You'll pick up tips and moves later on, right now just worry about getting comfortable up there. The sooner you feel confident on stage, the sooner you'll get more attention. Good luck!!

You know my first night I was scared sh*tless when I got on stage....I work the slow shift, and got up there to practice a few times. I also stuck around after work for the first week just to see some of the other moves from the other girls....I've been doing it for a little over a week now, and I've noticed that once I brought in music I know I was allot more confident on stage, and I did better. My confidence is higher now, and even though it's slow, and I don't make much..due to no custys....I am learning the art of dancing. I have also found that it has helped in the bedroom at home too. I am more confident, and I have an easier time teasing my man now. He loves it!

My first stage dance, I let the dj choose the music and just dance slowly. I was soooo scared not because people are watching but because of the shoes I was wearing.lol

Don't think about it too much. Once the music start, the nervousness will fade

To be blunt about it, us guys are more likely to be interested in the finer points of your anatomy than your dancing skills.

We also like to be noticed by you - it's nice to know we register on your radar.

In effect you could summarise the advice you're going to get in two sentences:

    (a) Move slowly (so we can look).

    (b) Make eye contact (so we know you're aware of us).

Concentrate on those two things and you won't go far wrong.

It's more a case of trying to put your personality across than your dancing skills.

Your stage show is in effect advertising your lap dances - guys will assume how you dance on stage is going to be how you'll do a lap dance.

Making eye contact during a stage show is a good indicator you'll make eye contact during a lap dance and hence react to us during the dance. Conversely, if you don't make eye contact during a stage show, guys will assume (rightly or wrongly) that any lap dance you give will be similarly unemotional.

if you can pick your music pick the songs that you totally love, something that if you were at a club you would jump up from your seat and grab the nearest guy, pulling him to the dance floor. Linkin Park and Jay-z is mine, if im dancing my ass off to that i dont even have a second to be nervous about being naked or what everyone thinks, im smiling with the confidence other dancers are faking...

I was so nervous I was shaking. I started on the day shift and that really helped. For my very first shift there were 3 guys in the audience, and when I had finished the waitress had to bring me over to one of the men who wanted private dances. Start on the slow shifts and you'll be fine.

Hmmm...good to know! I doing my first audition on Thurs, and I figured (maybe cuz I was raised on BET and MTV) that ass shaking would've been the way to go. I figured the eye contact thing would've been a good thing to do. So, would you recommend a mix of both, ass shaking and the slow hip shaking thing with the eye contact and lip biting, etc? What about getting on the floor and grinding or crawling across the floor? I don;t know maybe I'm thinking way too much into it, but I just want 2b sexy as possible so I can get hired and start making this $$$ =)
