Default i take excitement where i can get it.

this may not be the most amazing story, but i was amused. (adam is my boyfriend btw) so here it goes..

adam and i get home from my parents house tonight at about 9pm. we're hungry, since we ate easter dinner at like 3pm with them. we finally decided on grilling some food. i go to the grocery store around 9:30 to pick up stuff for dinner. as i'm finishing up checking out i noticed i missed a call from adam. i finish paying and call him back, while still standing in the store, in case i need to run back and get something. he answers the phone and tells me he needs some floss. just as i'm about to tell him i already paid, but i'll run back and get some, the power in the store goes out. pitch black. adam and i said "woah" at the same time... and then we both said "the power here just went out..." it's fairly odd since, our house is 2-3 miles from the store i was at. i got off the phone and one of the baggers pushed the door open for me so i could get out. i had to drive through a few out traffic lights, which is irritating because people lose their minds and forget how to treat it as a 4 way stop. then i pass by the cause of the outage. it looked like a truck smashed into and fucking -took out- a giant power line poll. the poll was in the middle of the street. the only cop anywhere (there were none at the lights yet) was thankfully infront of the poll, directing traffic around it. i get home and adam has all the candles in the house lit.

here's why everything seemed so lucky.

#1 we planned on grilling food anyway, a choice we had just made
#2 i JUST paid for the groceries before the power went out, or that would have been a disaster.
#3 i found out when i got home, that adam, for some strange reason, decided the best way to dispose of easter eggs was with a pellet gun. since he doesn't have any pellets, he was in the process of breaking off parts of wax from our candles (to make pellets out of) right when the power went out. so the power went out while he had a lighter in one hand, a phone in the other, and a candle infront of him.

also, we just unpacked our tealights that fill the giant candle holder that can light up our whole kitchen. i used it for light while i cut veggies and make meat patties.

the power came back on about 15 minutes ago. adam just walked in here to show me what an easter egg looks like with a wax pellet shot into it. our food should be done in about a 1/2 hour.

    good times.
