    Default Outdoor Wedding?

Anybody ever have an outdoor wedding? The clock is ticking and I really need to get on with my planning. I've always wanted an outdoor wedding but am worried about a few things. LIke if it will rain, and WHERE is a good location. A friend of mine had hers in her dad's front yard, but he lived out in the country in the middle of the corn fields. It was actually beautiful and hidden, so it seemed very private out there. I have no idea how to even start looking for a place. Southern Indiana is beautiful, but too far and I don't want my guests driving too far. And if you find a nice location, can you rent out or how does that work.

Any advice would be helpful, Ive been procastinating this whole thing and now time is running out!!!!!

I've always wanted a beach wedding, so I say go for it. Don't really have much advice for you since I haven't been there yet. I would so need a wedding planner myself. Not organized enough to keep track of every little detail!!

Have you signed up on www.theknot.com ? It's almost just as good as a wedding planner.

I have a friend who had her reception at her parents house and part of it was outside. People could walk in and out. They had a tent over part of the yard in case it rained, which it did.

I did my wedding for about $4K. It was outside at a family member's farm, we got a tent because we thought it was going to rain, and I got a deal on all of my tables, chairs, linens, etc. from A Classic Party Rental or somesuch. They also put up the tent.

We made the centerpieces and did the food ourselves. It was very relaxed, yet elegant and we didn't spent an arm and a leg.

You soooo do not need a wedding planner as long as you take things SLOWLY... plan at your leisure.. do what YOU want.. pay for everything as you get the money over time... muuuuch easier.

My partner's mum is making the food. My gifts to others are pretty cheap but meaningful.

Only my dress and my photographer were expensive.. and even my photographer gave me a GREAT deal.. only costing $900... normally $2500... so yay. My dress was $2500 though... still need to upload a pic...

My wedding was outdoors - a garden with a view of the ocean at Hanalei Bay in Hawaii. It rained all day long until about an hour before the wedding was supposed to start, when suddenly it stopped. Our wedding was under a really pretty sunset that started with a big rainbow.

We did the outdoor wedding thing, and it rocked. The entire thing cost about $4000. We did the invitations ourselves, the cooking, and the setup. The only thing we did was hire 3 servers to take car of the food the actual day of, so we could all enjoy ourselves. The whole thing was at my parents house, we had the ceremoy in the front yard, and the party by the pool in the back. We also had the tent in case of rain which it didnt, The whole wedding was very casual, and people still tell me what a great time they had. I say go for it!

My first wedding was in a beautiful park by the beach. My 2nd wedding, this August will be held outside at our friends Golf course....also by a beach! I have a good feeling the weather will be beautiful, but just in case, we have arranged to have the ceremony inside if it rains....but I know it won't!

We've planned at our own leisure and have saved a ton of money on things this way.

We did ours at an indoor/outdoor hall; had the ceremony outside and reception indoors. Look for "wedding halls" or "event halls" in your area and you can look for the ones with really nice grounds. If there's some gorgeous local park, often you can book them through the city for your wedding.

Aww....thanks sooo much for your replies ladies!!!! Tons of great advice. I did once look at www.theknot.com but didn't bother signing up. I'll go ahead and do that now.
Two of you said it ran around 4K. Is that pretty average? My parents and his parents are going to take care of the food. and we have a photographer in mind, but haven't checked his prices. this weekend, my mother and I want to go look at some dresses. Now, my wedding dress, I AM picky about. I want a SEXY dress.
Andygirl, did people have a hard time finding the farm your wedding was at? I know some country areas are so hard to find around where I grew up. so many guests got lost going to my friend's wedding (the one who had hers at her dad's in the country)

    4k is cheap, imo.

I'm not even 50% done with my wedding and it's ran me over 5...

Ehh, I guess 4K wouldn't be so bad. Our parents agreed to help us with $$$.
I am so jealous of the beach weddings!!! No beaches around here. Last night, we discusses just eloping (sp?). But I really want my family to be there and my dad to give my away.
