    Default Nursing Bra Suggestions

I tried searching but couldn't find anything on this topic.

I'm due to have my first child in about 3 weeks and am planning to breastfeed.

I have all natural breasts that were pretty big before I got pregnant (34D) and are now huge (36E or F - I think).

I am having a hard time finding a good, supportive bra at these maternity shops and stores.
So I was wondering if any of you ladies had suggestions on a good, supportive nursing bra and where to get them. My main concern is support and comfort, but if it's possible I'd like one that I can wear regular clothes without it showing.

And of course any advice about the whole thing will probably be useful to me too.

    Thanks in advance.

I know that with my regular bras I have to get the right cup size and take in the band to fit, more often then not.

you might try the same thing.

I know you were asking for attractive bras... but as far as comfort goes (I'm 38 E for nursing) nothing beats sports bras. You just pull them up from the bottom and whip out the boob. I find real nursing bras to be very expensive, not terribly comfortable and a pain in the ass with the little clips. When my babies want milk they want it NOW and aren't really nice about waiting while I undo the clip, then do it up again and undo the other one when switching to the other side

^Is there even such a thing as an attractive nursing bra? It's been 11 years since I've nursed so I don't have any suggestions as far as supportive bras go. However, I remember that those nursing pads got pretty expensive, so I would reserve those for going out in public and while at home I just used a wash cloth folded into quarters. Yeah, I would stuff a washcloth into my nursing bra to soak up any leakage (you just never know when you're going to let-down) and save myself from changing tops a gazillion times a day.

When I was nursing ALL day long I wore the http://www.glamourmom.com/ tank top bras. And the http://www.bravadodesigns.com/ bras. But after a while, I just started wearing regular bras. I saw some nice ones at babystyle, but they were too expensive, but actually they look like they're on sale at the moment - http://www.babystyle.com/common/dPro...sp?ClassID=639

    those are pretty.

I should mention, that I'm only a small C cup though - so I can get away with a lot less support than you.

    I'm still looking around.
I might have to do like Lola suggested and just take in the band size.

At this point, I am most worried about support and comfort. I've been shopping around looking at nursing and non nursing and even sports bras. I have a hard time finding anything that fits around my rib cage and my cup size at the same time, even sports bras.

    The search continues.

I was going to say the same thing. Sports bras for every day, definitely. They are much easier to handle with one hand. DO NOT believe any advertisement that says nursing bras can be operated with one hand. You can get them open with one hand, but you need 4 hands to get them closed up again, and there is no way to do it without either ruining the neck of your shirt or else exposing your entire breast.

I wore a loose t-shirt and then a loose button-front shirt unbuttoned. That gave me plenty enough coverage in most cases.

If you want a couple of pretty bras for special occasions or whatnot, try Medela (sp?) the company that makes the pumps. I know they make nursing bras, and I am pretty sure they are nicer than the ordinary ones.

Another note: If the hospital where you are planning to deliver does not have a trained nursing specialist ON HAND, be sure to find and bring one of your own. I had a hellish time getting my son to nurse, and there was nobody around who could help me.

Here is Medelas website. Apologies if somebody else posted it, but it is 3 am and I need to get to sleep. there is a lot of good info here, including who to find a consultant in your own area.

Never had or will have kids but I watched my sister nurse and I have big boobs...

Check out a front closure bra at lane bryant. thay have all cups up to FF or something and from 32 or 34.

    I love my bras.

Thay would probably work, be big enough, and have enough support for sure.

Geeze I have no idea where to get ones as large as you need.

I just bought my nursing bras in Zellers...they had the quickest release clasp and one I only needed one hand to release and snap. Playtex is the brand name.

I have one from Wonder Bra but I don't use it as much as the clasp requires 2 hands to fasten.

As for nursing pads I bought environmental ones made of terry cloth with a soft mesh on the nipple side. You just wash n wear.

The bras I bought are comfy although no where near sexy...and no matter what they are going to stretch eventually.

    My cup size is also a C during nursing...prior to that I was a 34 B...went to a 36 C .

You could also try out THYME Maternity if they are in the US. I bought some great maternity jeans there that do not look like pregger jeans with the stupid elastic panel on the front. The ones I bought there look like REAL jeans and have hidden adjustable elastics inside to adjust both during and post pregnancy.
