    Default Sauna's at the gym

I am not sure where to post this but i am posting this in lounge so people can comment on it. This is just a little rant I have to get off my chest. The public sauna's at the gym are so gross i went and sat in one yesterday and there were like 5 people in there wraped in some riduclaous contraption that looks like a garbage bag sweating all over the place ewwwwwww I was creeped out seeing the sweat just drop and then one of them got up and there was a nasty sweat ring under them I can never go in a sauna agine becuse i think it is a sess pool for germs and other nasty things. If you go in the sauna please bring a towl and please do not even go in if you think it is a qucik fix for your wieght problem the gym equipment is in the next room go there. ug end rant.

Well, saunas are FOR sweating the toxins out of your body and pores. That's the purpose.

So, if you go in there without protecting yourself with a towel, then you're just asking to be grossed out. Personally, it doesn't bother me.

I'd be more worried about the hot tubs where you're sitting with other people and literally stewing in their toxic juices.

BTW, doesn't stop me from using either one. I'm a risk taker, lol.

My advice? Take your precautions and don't overthink it. Enjoy it. It's supposed to be relaxing

Hee. At my gym, the staff calls the hot tubs "petri dishes." If the sauna creeps you out, just bring in some clorox anywhere spray and apply it liberally to every surface you intend to touch. I do that with the dumbells at my gym.

    That's pretty funny!!!

I've had to spray at the gym myself. I've actually went to sit down at a machine that had a back and head support and there was someone's sweat and hair gel dripping down it, yuk!

^^Eeww! My gym has disinfectant spray bottles all over, so it is gym policy that after you use a machine, you are to wipe it down....especially if you just left a pool of sweat all over it!

I suggest people to look at their local hospitals and rehab clinics. Typically they have a small community gym that's not expensive to get into that is clean and part of the hospital.

I work out in one. It's small but it's CLEAN and mostly mature people in it's membership when they're not eyeballing my junk in the locker room.

The most disgusting thing about the sauna or steam room at the gym, is when someone gets out and jumps in the pool to rinse the sweat off. There is a shower right between the door to each of them.

Sometimes, I stop and thank the repeat offenders for depositing their 'body urine' in the pool.

    same with my gym.

i like the sauna at the gym. i use the steam room, not the dry sauna, and it always makes my sinuses and skin feel really good. i always have a cold shower afterwards, and i always take in a little towel to sit on.

It was policy in my gym as well. Doesn't mean that the cerebrally challenged musclehead adhered to it. Ewww.......bad memory.

Thank God I work out at home now.
